I was there. I bought tickets for what I thought was a full theatre to only find it was almost all empty. This was Captain Marvel, not the sequel.

This was extremely obvious when this was going on. I was on a lot of Star Wars Facebook groups when all this started. Google was full of articles claiming "Star Wars Fans Want Gina Carano fired" yet I never encountered these "star wars fans". Nevermind the fact that you can say "fans" without giving a number of any evidence that it is a significant number of people. The articles from various entertainment blogs and websites were often just copies or very slightly re-worded. There were Facebook pages like "The Batman" that just kept spamming these articles over and over again to create the false appearance of "viral".

I had an Achilles tendon injury at the time so I spent a fair amount of time online. I started to questioned those who seem so upset at Gina and found out most of them were from inactive accounts or accounts that followed no one which showed me they were not real people... Just bots!
Imagine the pettiness needed to do such a thing, the resources spent, and for what? To keep Kathleen's ego intact? Totally insane.

Them using a bot army against their own employee in a targeted harassment campaign prior to dismissing her, is enough to win an unfair dismissal claim and probably a health and safety claim for malicious creation of a psychological hazards and injury. If she had sued in Australia, she would be millions richer and the state and federal government regulators would carve Disney up. Unfortunately the damages she faced in Australia - a few thousand dollars of royalties and wages - don't make it worthwhile.
It’s worthwhile just to put a very public black mark on the people running Disney, regardless of the monetary value of the damages won.

I suspected that was what "beep boop bop" meant. It was a "robot" reference to an episode of SpongeBob. She KNEW back then this was a bot mob.

We did this thing saying that Gina is a horrible person, so I guess we should fire her for what we did.

It's difficult to forget that rian Johnson had a million Twitter Bots before he purged his account of past tweets. The "divide" in the fandom was bots vs real people and the gullible that followed the bots, in a mistaken attempt to fall in line with the groupthink that twitter-bots were intentionally distorting.
The worst part is we kind of knew this was going on we really couldn't do anything about it. Even Iger knew full well how badly the platform was infested with bots. I hope Gina can use this in court but I honestly don't trust the legal system with any of this.

People need to keep in mind that it isn't just Disney doing this. Bots are everywhere online and it isn't just being used by companies you don't like.

I’m a big reader and I always feel like Goodreads is full of bots. The scores on books never seem accurate and they screw ridiculously high. Even the reviews are all positive. Idk it might be a bunch of pixie dusters especially in the young adult books but it just seems odd to me.

What we know, though, is there were people at Lucasfilm that had it out for Gina, so had every motivation to use this against her. I'm sure KK wasn't on her computer programming Twitter bots, but it probably wouldn't be difficult to hire a bot service that can.

I wouldn't be shocked if Disney has even sent hate to their POC actors to gaslight them into thinking they have hate mobs after them and to get the media riled up, so they can accuse fans of being racist. My first exposure to bots came years ago on Twitter. Some lib account would post and within minutes had thousands of likes and hundreds of retweets. And these weren’t particularly good tweets, nothing funny or clever. It was evident a bot army was at work upvoting and retweeting to boost the boss account content.
I sort of felt this was happening just knowing who was involved. Bob buys Bots. Bob uses bots. Bob smiles and goes to lunch. Bob returns from lunch to find the results. Bob plays god and gets caught. Bob is sentenced to Corporate hell. May the losses be with him, ALWAYS.
So not only do they chase the "modern audience" but they also make that audience up lol. Produce crap products to sell to imaginery customers, while taking investors' money.
Of course the outrage was fake. She was the best part of the Mandalorian and she did nothing wrong.
