You really don’t want noise-canceling while you are laying on your side. The ear pod directly rubbing against the pillow causes wide-frequency noise which is interpreted as loud.
I agree. Plus, my memory foam pillow blocks a lot of noise on that side of my head, so it’s simply not needed. Although, I do want noise cancellation for the other ear. I doubt the sound isolation of these buds is enough if you don’t have white noise playing. Hopefully they add noise cancellation that intelligently turns off for the pillow-facing bud, if a gen 2 is ever released.
Why not? I've been using SOUNDCORE liberty 4 nc for 9 months with anc enabled and I sleep like a baby for 6 hours. The only problem I have is the earbuds get loose in my ears sometimes.
I had the Bose Sleepbuds for YEARS. The good news to other owners like me, Ozlo effectively licensed almost everything that made those work. I upgraded to the Ozlo versions after my old sleepbuds finally died and genuinely they're 100% as good as the Bose.
@@CMFT22 If you're like me and use the old sleepbuds, the best thing I can tell you is that to me as someone who daily drove Bose's version since the first one released, these are proper successors.
My Bose sleepbuds batteries are starting to fail after years of every night use. Gonna hurt forking over €325, but a good night sleep should be worth it.
@@rudymeow Even better, the team that made these is the previous Sleepbuds team. Linus briefly mentions that this team are "former Bose engineers" but the core team that made the sleepbuds with Bose spun off into their own company when Bose mothballed that product line and then they licensed a lot of the tech. So in all ways thag matter, these are the successor just under a different brand name.
this is exactly what i need but the $300 usd premium sadly is just a deal breaker for me and most people ima assume. Being a side sleeper is has been tourture finding good earbuds that cause the least amount of discomfort. You guys usually will educated on the price during these videos so i was surprised no mention of the price till i got to the sponsored link to see $300.
I think this is not really huge if you normally can't sleep it gives you a lot of qof for a tiny amount of money. Such things are the reason why we can't have non subscription stuff anymore. + There is ton of costs that one has to pay for these things to be certified especially things that are so near to you also do you thing software for this will just fly in?
They always bury the lede on price. Sleep earbuds are expensive because it’s such a niche market and it sucks. The “cheapest” option is the Anker A10 at $200 CAD, but I tried a set and they were pretty crap. I’m not willing to take the same risk at twice the price.
And no mention of a battery replacement service. It's basically going to be E-waste in a few years. (edit see replies below, they have a warranty program)
$300 is a bit of a premium for something you are going to wear just to sleep. I'm surprised there weren't any notes on the Ozlo Flex subscription. Pay $20 a month to rent a pair. IMO $20 to try something for a month before buying sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Yeah final total of the product is $320 but at that point you know you are going to like the product and you don't have to futs with a money back guarantee or anything
" just to sleep" ??? You spend 1/3 of your life sleeping dude. A bad night of sleep fucks up your day. So sleep quality should be on top of everyone's priority
@@bioticgod so many people around me ignore their bed and pillow quality which fucked up their sleep. The moment I spent $10 (SEA pricing) for a good pillow they lost their mind
I bought the soundcore sleep a20, and they do absolute everything this one from Ozlo does, and even more, since the soundcore have a ton of touch input combos. I cannot speak for the comfort, but the soundcore do their job good enough. The big difference is that I paid them around 120 Euro (about 130 US dollars), and the Ozlo distributed in the EU zone are 349 Euro, therefore we pay them around 375 US dollars. Tl;dr? thanks, but no thanks.
Also been using the a20 for awhile, I live next to a highway and they've been doing a great job. Only problems are my ears have been stretched from using the wfmx4 daily so they fall out sometimes, even with the correct tip and largest wing. The touch controls for me are also inconsistent.
Yeah, when I saw these in the video, I thought how much they looked like the A20s and being 3x the price, I don't think there's value there you can't get with the Soundcore ones. I like the headphones I have from Soundcore, though I haven't tried their earbuds.
to this day I've always wondered why Bose discontinued their Sleepbuds... odd that everything is the exact same thing, down to the case and sound selections. Glad I can finally replace mine when they break.
@@AverageVibes24 iirc a couple Bose employees believed in the product even when Bose discontinued them. Bose agreed to sell them the original sleepbud design and they just added a couple bits on top of them.
Our founders thought the same thing, which is why we've been fighting to keep them alive! Our engineers actually added in over 370+ new parts so you can now stream anything you want! We also plan on launching new sounds very soon! 🎉
There are a couple things that didn't mentioned in the video that I think is worth to address. 1) Price. - $299 2) What do you get from their subscription? - Yes, they do have a subscription. 3) The earbud does not have a headphone. - There is mic in the case like Linus said, however, it does not work for things like phone call. 4) How many device can connected at the same time. - I am still looking the answer. Hope someone tell me if they can connect to 2 devices.
The fact they have a subscription is insane, I know that shit companies are trying their hardest to include a subscription in everything, but if I buy some $300 earbuds, they better be straight out of the box experience with no additional charges.
@@JCLB1001 The "subscription" is in lieu of paying the $300. You pay to "rent" the earbuds. Supposedly comes with lifetime warranty and free upgrade every 2 years. Still not worth it.
I also use Airpods almost religiously for sleep, and I just made peace with playing hide-and-seek the next morning for my buds. This might be huge for me!

I'm a light sleeper who's sensitive to both light and sound. I'm not convinced of the concept of "brown noise" nor listening to audio to fall asleep though. I'm using a pair of Alpine DeepSleep silicone earplugs since two years and that's the perfect solution to me. Blocks out all the noise that used to disturb my sleep, fits comfortably (unlike foam earplugs), doesn't make disturbing noise itself (unlike foam earplugs), is infinitely reusable (unlike foam earplugs) and still lets me hear my alarm clock in the morning (unlike foam earplugs). I would highly recommend anyone to try out those or a comparable product first, before you spend 300 - 350 bones on this!
My sleep schedule is completely fudged lol Wasn't expecting this product to cost 350e considering its basically a slimmed down earbud. An issue I with foam earplugs is that I end up hearing the muscle itself and sometimes heartbeat, just wondering if thats a thing with the alpines?
the problem with devices like these, earplugs, melatonin, noise machines, whatever is you're essentially training yourself to be even more of a light sleeper and become dependent on those things for a basic biological function in a vicious cycle of bad sleep. whilst they're useful for travel or shift workers, I'd highly recommend practising sleep hygiene and fixing things so you can sleep normally. Spend your money on a sleep clinic instead to test for sleep apnea etc
@@factzilla1868while I do agree with you, in my case any, and I mean ANY, noise wakes me up after I sleep for 3-4 hours. These are not for listening to music. They're for sound masking. And for this they do a perfect job. I used to have the Bose sleep buds, they finally died after many good years of use. These are pretty much identical in design with afew extra features. For someone like me who has tinnitus for which regular earplugs don't work, these are perfect. Also I'm a side sleeper and can barely feel them. Oh, and these are the only ones on the market that have the sounds preloaded so you don't have to have a Bluetooth connection running into your head all night. I hope they continue to add more variety to the preloaded sleep sounds. Big win from me.
The more desperate you are, the more reasonable the price sounds. I get overstimulated by sound, and my Sony XM5 earbuds are 1,000% worth every penny of their $300. Without them I hardly ever leave the house. Now I'm out and about every day. I figure it must be the same with people whose insomnia is debilitating enough.
You could get the Soundcore sleep a20 for half that price, they advertise a similar feature set, can’t attest to their quality as I’ve never tried them, but there are other options

A soothing audiobook or documentary (consistent volume is essential/key) playing in the background (looped/playlist) while having a soft fan blowing near me is what helps me get a deep/sound sleep.
4:36 actually that is correct. Contradictively to what you'd think, your brain doesn't entirely shut down in sleep. As I recall the region that governs self preservation remains active and heavily listens into the sounds of danger. Consequently, as silence generally means a predator has scared of everything else, you'll fibd yourself woken or disturbed by perfect noise cancellation. Exceptions do apply, as some are very heavy sleepers
I've been using the Samsung Galaxy Buds + since 2020 for the same trade-offs shown at 4:46. Glad to see there's something else on the market that fits the bill after my current pair and backup pair die
BTS buds+ ftw. I refuse to let them die. Bought 2 pairs, and i will use them until their boards no longer function. The batteries are easy diy repairs!
agree with you and the comments below. I bought the newer buds 2 pro that are a downgrade in battery life(8h, instead of 10h), better sounding (not much difference) and ANC. the buds + have actually a way better passive noise cancellation than the 2 pro so that's a really big tradeoff. I would love to find an actual decent product identical to the buds+ but updated to newer bluetooth and improved sound quality (even ANC if possible). If I break my 2 pro, bet I will buy again the buds+.
Our engineering team painstakingly worked to develop this advanced technology in the tiniest of products, but we understand they’re not in everyone’s price range. We know we’re biased, but we think getting great sleep is worth the investment. We also offer payment plans in certain locations now as well. If you saw the manufacturing line for the bad boys...you might say otherwise. 😉
@@OzloSleepThen why not include that in the pitch? Why not let Linus explain why they are 300 bucks, let alone tell us they are? Have some transparency if they are this expensive. It sounds high but actually as far as sleep aids go. That's cheap. A simple chin strap is $90. A Cpap machine is $1000. That stupid water tank is several hundred. To be replaced every year. The mask itself its $200, to be replaced twice a year. The whole sleep industry is one big scam. I am not surprised these cost $300, I am just disappointed they joined the big sleep scam.

Bose originally developed these and couldn't sell them well enough at $300 to justify keeping them around. Some people with issues that necessitate this kind of solution would probably gladly fork over that amount for something that would help give them a good night's sleep. Actually, that probably applies to a lot of sleep related stuff. You can make do with pretty much anything for sleeping, but some people still spend 4 figures on mattresses and stuff. Linus, insomnia is a medical condition which affects your whole body, both mentally and physically. I've been on sleeping medications since I was 15 (I'm 34 now), tried multiple types of drugs until my shrink and neurologist found the right combination. There's no subscription for the features but you should've mentioned the subscription they do offer, which actually seems like a good deal for testing. It's $20 to essentially rent a pair of the earbuds ($22 for a "guaranteed new" pair) so you can see if it's worth it for you without paying the $300. If I had the money to buy them then I'd definitely start with the subscription first, if they're actually worth it then that extra $20 doesn't really matter that much.
gotta love how precisely relevant this is for me. my airpod pro 2s end up under my bed covered in dust on a regular basis. the price for a nighttime only product is steep, but then again my airpods are also going to be used for half the day now lol they can both be overpriced i guess. one more gripe: they don’t explain what ozlo flex is, just list things in relation to the other purchase option. I can almost gather what it is, but i don’t see an actual explanation anywhere on their site
I was looking into these when they were announced 4 years ago. I am a pretty light sleeper and need some white noise for most nights. The price was a big drawback for me, but I would have gone for it had I not found Anker's soundcore A20 sleep buds. They do all the important things, cost 120 gbp, super comfy when side sleeping, and I wake up with 60% charge left every day. Anyone who wants to buy something that works and doesn't drain your pockets too much, I can really recommend this!
I'm glad I found this. I love my Bose sleepbuds and I had one original set go defective years ago, bought the newer version and now 1 sleepbud doesn't make noise so I still use it but no sound comes out of the one side. I'm going to have to ask Santa for this "new" Ozlo for Christmas. I just wish the buds last longer.
Been using these for months (Kickstarter), and they are awesome! More comfortable than any other option and now that they've ironed out the firmware bugs their performance has been solid and reliable. Anker soundcore version still doesn't compare, though they are much cheaper and are comfortable.
Maybe a 50% discount and it will be worth it. You can keep your sound library and other non hardware features and convert it to a subscription as long as I can use the buds normally even without that. Because $300 just doesn't make sense.
This is the IP from the Bose Sleepbuds, which I’ve used for years. I hate Bose, but these are pretty good. You can select a loop and it plays for 8-10 hours.
I literally thought these were the Bose earbuds until about 4:00 when they bring up how similarly they looked to the Bose version. I was like "Wait a second.."
I suffer from tinnitus, this could be exactly what I need! Our house is awfully quiet at night, which is great for my girlfriend, but makes me go nuts from the orchestra in my head. So I sleep on the couch half of the time, where I put up something on the TV as background noise. I've tried other earbuds, but they all fail in being comfortable enough to sleep with. Definitely gonna try these!
That's what I use sleepbuds for. Or rather I use the Anker Soundcore A20 Sleepbuds, they're way cheaper and basically do everything these do. No idea how they compare, but I can say that for the use of masking tinnitus (I suffer from this too, real bad), sleepbuds in general absolutely helps. If nothing else it gives your brain something else to focus on instead of the noise in your head, which is a godsend when trying to fall asleep.
I use a bluetooth speaker with a bit of bass beside my bed, which plays a RUclips video called “ 🎧 Star Trek TNG Bridge Background Ambience 8 HOURS (for sleep, study, work, relaxation, asmr) ” It works so well I haven't tried any other sound since, even though I kind of want to, out of curiosity only. I also put in a pair of 3M earplugs in my ears, which blocks out most sounds but not the bassy sound of the video so much. And I use a sleep mask too, which is far more important that you'd think if your room isn't completely dark. Oh, and a weighted blanket. Mine is 8kg. Not light. Not too heavy. Sleep is not something I have to worry about any more. I definitely seem to have cracked it.
I thought you were going to say no bluethooth.. The reason the Bose sleep buds were a BIG fail. Great to see these are the real answer. I will pick some up thanks for the review. I bought the sleep buds and returned them as soon as I worked out they didn't allow you to stream your own audio.
Hey Linus, you should try the Manta Bluetooth Sleep Mask! It blocks out all light, so I can fall asleep even when my wife is watching TV in the room. The mask stays securely in place all night thanks to the adjustable band, and it's super comfortable since it doesn’t go inside your ears.
Has Linus ever heard of ear plugs? It's like he's looking for a solution that already has a solution, but he's demanding it to be something that needs electricity 😂
Some years ago there was a mention about this "problem" of his in a video and my understanding is, that after his kid(s) are now grown a bit, he somehow got used to the "constant sounds" from when they were babies. Something like - if there isn't "noise" he can't be "at peace" sleeping. Again, my understanding of the matter.
This looks like quite a step up from the old bose sleep buds. Those could only work in standalone and not be used as regular Bluetooth buds. I tried them back then but it didn't work that well for me, I would fall asleep more easily but then wake up because of the noise again later in the night. But that's not the device's fault, they're just not for everyone. And the addition of letting you listen to stuff on your phone instead of only the preprogrammed noise makes the value proposition a lot better (although they're still expensive).
5:33 Ok, this now top of my upcoming Christmas list, thanks LTT👍🏻 Oh and yes, I’ll admit, for me….Harry Potter audiobooks, and not telling my fav and 2nd fav, but if know me….youll guess right
Hey Linus, I suffer issues with light and noise at night to get even acceptable sleep, so this product recommendation is very interesting. However, I experience extreme discomfort from earbuds that actually sit in the ear canal and require earbuds more akin to the Samsung Buds Live, ones that sit in the ear but don't actually go in with a silicone tip, basically. I would love to see more earbuds recommendations with this in mind as my current only solution being the terrible Buds Live for a decent night's sleep is less than perfect and I'm sure I'm not alone. Many thanks 😊
im waiting for the endgame earbuds to splurge, ones that I will never remove from my head besides for cleaning/charging, ones that: 1. Sound excellent (music, games, voices, etc) 2. I can sleep with (implying low profile) 3. Togglable active noise canceling (w/ optional voice isolation†) 4. Low delay so they work for gaming † when i say voice isolation i don't mean boost things in human frequency i mean something using fun math or AI that specifically amplifies close voices and lowers other sounds, i have APD and can't understand people 5in in front of me if theres background sound
those will probably never exist considering you need a high bandwidth connection which takes a lot of power and needs to be super low profile meaning there isn't very much room for batteries or drivers meaning they won't sound amazing no matter how well they're engineered because of how speakers work and because of the aforementioned problems only tiny batteries would fit and with the high bandwidth connection they wouldn't last very long TL;DR if these ever exist it won't be for decades
@@itsmejak7888 decades i think is pushing it considering this type of tech has done the "get 2x as efficient" thing probs 3 times the last decade. besides, im sure more esoteric solutions might pop up (i.e. putting a thin but wide battery on other side of the ear and using a wire)

@@MaybeAnnatar I waited for so long for these to come out. I love this.
The Bose sleepbuds is the first thing came to my mind too, if they are licensed then it make a lot of sense.

@@platin2148 My dude, $300 is not a "tiny amount of money" (for many of us, at least).

Agreed. I have the soundcore ones too but they are horrible wide sleeping. Otherwise great.

There are a couple things that didn't mentioned in the video that I think is worth to address.
1) Price. - $299
2) What do you get from their subscription? - Yes, they do have a subscription.
3) The earbud does not have a headphone. - There is mic in the case like Linus said, however, it does not work for things like phone call.
4) How many device can connected at the same time. - I am still looking the answer. Hope someone tell me if they can connect to 2 devices.
Seems like "snakeoil for insomniacs" to me. Would not recommend anyone to get this without full refund policy.

My sleep schedule is completely fudged lol
Wasn't expecting this product to cost 350e considering its basically a slimmed down earbud.

the problem with devices like these, earplugs, melatonin, noise machines, whatever is you're essentially training yourself to be even more of a light sleeper and become dependent on those things for a basic biological function in a vicious cycle of bad sleep.

I can almost gather what it is, but i don’t see an actual explanation anywhere on their site
Bose couldnt sell them at $300 so i doubt these guys will be around for long
5:00 James in pigtails is someone I didn't know I wanted. He should wear them for an entire video 😂
I just wish the buds last longer.
adventure time was so good. my fav cartoon world too, so big and diverse in very fun ways
Linus riffs on other reviewers for going easy or doing under-advertised paid promos yet here he is doing it for $300 sleepbuds.
Editors really puttin in the work with the effects lol I love it
I literally thought these were the Bose earbuds until about 4:00 when they bring up how similarly they looked to the Bose version. I was like "Wait a second.."
Too bad I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing I spent $300 big ones on fancy earplugs
Didn't Bose used to own these?
Edit: lol, they addressed it.
@@Cimlite Thanks man, wasn't aware of this one from Anker. Will definitely check them out! 🙏
My husband said "a mouse f@rting" would wake me up! Will check them out - thanks for the vid.
The first thing in my mind when I saw the thumbnail was “Bose sleep buds?”, happy it’s an evolution not a knockoff
This is something I need to think about. I probably still won't end up getting them anyways, but regardless nice to see it is a thing.
Soundcore sleep a20 --- i brought these and they're INCREDIBLE
I use a bluetooth speaker with a bit of bass beside my bed,
which plays a RUclips video called
“ 🎧 Star Trek TNG Bridge Background Ambience 8 HOURS (for sleep, study, work, relaxation, asmr) ”
It works so well I haven't tried any other sound since,
even though I kind of want to, out of curiosity only.
He likes listening to music when he is sleeping. He doesn't want regular ear plugs
5:33 Ok, this now top of my upcoming Christmas list, thanks LTT👍🏻
Oh and yes, I’ll admit, for me….Harry Potter audiobooks, and not telling my fav and 2nd fav, but if know me….youll guess right
Hey Linus, I suffer issues with light and noise at night to get even acceptable sleep, so this product recommendation is very interesting. Many thanks 😊
im waiting for the endgame earbuds to splurge, ones that I will never remove from my head besides for cleaning/charging, ones that:
1. Sound excellent (music, games, voices, etc)
2. I can sleep with (implying low profile)
3. Togglable active noise canceling (w/ optional voice isolation†)
4. Low delay so they work for gaming
† when i say voice isolation i don't mean boost things in human frequency i mean something using fun math or AI that specifically amplifies close voices and lowers other sounds, i have APD and can't understand people 5in in front of me if theres background sound
those will probably never exist considering you need a high bandwidth connection which takes a lot of power and needs to be super low profile meaning there isn't very much room for batteries or drivers meaning they won't sound amazing no matter how well they're engineered because of how speakers work and because of the aforementioned problems only tiny batteries would fit and with the high bandwidth connection they wouldn't last very long
TL;DR if these ever exist it won't be for decades
@@itsmejak7888 decades i think is pushing it considering this type of tech has done the "get 2x as efficient" thing probs 3 times the last decade. besides, im sure more esoteric solutions might pop up (i.e. putting a thin but wide battery on other side of the ear and using a wire)
