You’ve been bringing up the corruption being human cells - how do you feel about the theory that the corruption is spread so far and wide due to the dust created by shed skin cells? I remember hearing someone propose that the marker infection may have revived those dead cells, allowing the corruption to suddenly appear in places, including vents and maintenance tunnels that wouldn’t have a ton of people present all the time.
Pretty sure that's confirmed or at least strongly hinted at in one of the in-game logs though of course in the later stages of infection they can add much more biomass to it from corpses

yknow, this makes me realize something you ever notice how when isaac gets close to a marker, he always ends up destroying it before he leaves its radius? maybe this explains why he doesn't succumb, it goes in a lucky sequence of something like: 1. he gets infected 2. he approaches the marker, the bacteria are suppressed 3. he destroys the marker, and the bacteria die because they're no longer receiving marker energy man isaac's luck is through the roof
This is my in-universe theory: this bacteria is actually what the bretheren moons are, not some disembodied mind attached to the marker. You wouldn't say a car has the drivers personality, right? So, the bacteria influenced multiple species to create the markers to amplify what they could already do, acting as a kind of loudspeaker for their intentions. A pretty good example of what I'm thinking of are the worms fry ingested i futurama, but much more insidious.
The question is how does that evolve? How does a bacteria evolve a hivemind or develop a means of making stone monoliths without advanced technology? They can’t. The brethren moons were created. There are greater threats in the universe than the necromorphs. That’s my theory.
@@ltchugacast131 I mean chemical or electric communication between the bacteria with the eventual system resembling a network of interlinked cells would already be capable of basic problem solving, as aggregate slime molds and other unicellular organism conglomerates do. Even in bacterial species, Quorum Signalling allows for the propagation of chemical signals that lead to a reaction in the entire population. If evolution pushed this signaling further, say if by a quirk of evolutionary physics these cells became entangled on a quantum level, and so their ability to signal and operate drastically improves in speed, which in turn would rapidly improve their ability to problem solve. As to how they would be able to co-opt other species into working for them, clearly the bacteria can interface with other cells and initiate forced mutation, the resulting mutant is fully under the control of whatever signal is actually directing the bacteria, at which point they could most definitely be directed towards a specific task. Honestly though I don't think that's even necessary, the bacterial cells could just interlink to form a multi-cellular structure, much like many slime molds do, and given they seem to have some degree of control over their own genetic code, alter their structure to form a conglomerate capable of different tasks by differentiating those cells, you know like all multi-cellular organisms do today, obviously including our species. It would fit the Dead Space universe that these were perhaps incredible tools that were turned into a horrific galactic/universal plague on all life due to the short-sightedness of the species that created them. The Necromorphs themselves are sort of an embodiment of the paper clip theory, they are organic machines solely devoted to transforming all life into more Brethren Moons, and it really fits the themes of fear surrounding resource scarcity and the conflict that follows well

Roanoke, these dead space videos make me so happy, the fact that a game series that is over a decade old still gets this much attention is so amazing to see, dead space IMO is by far one of if not the best sci-fi survival horror game in the modern day of video games, the game in my opinion was very early for its time, anyway love the videos man and keep up the great work man! :D
I always think its funny when people say humans are wasteful, when the examples they give are really that humans have gone beyond nature. There is power there, and danger. We are in the process of learning how to deal with that. Its not that we are "wasteful" or "destructive". Its that we have become very powerful very fast, and are learning how to deal with that.
Hey Roanoke, what would you think about a parasitic plant? Was thinking of introducing it as a primary antagonist in a story Im writing. Colony ship lands on a planet dominated only by flora but soon realize something is amiss, as the plants brought along by the colony start to wither and change and regrow into another type of plant altogether. Thinking necromorph of nature almost, but without the whole plan to wipe out life across the galaxy and essentially is just a plant doing plant things
Your videos takes me back to my high school years... I remember how hyped I was in biology classes and when we were talking about bacteria and viruses because of this game. Now watching these videos, I cant stop but remembering those days.
Hey Roanoke! Did you deliberately cut out at the end? You were saying something but the video ended abruptly, seemingly mid sentence. A large number of YOUR videos are doing this. So tell me: is this video actually 16:04 seconds long? Or are there minutes unaccounted for that you're unaware are being omitted?
the only thing to give me a night terror.....nothing is more terrifying than seeing Isaac's woman standing over you whispering to you "make us whole"......
Eukaryotic cells can’t just “devolve into a prokaryotic form.” Those are vastly different evolutionary trees with significant genetic differences compounded over 1-2 billion years. Humans are more likely to become giraffes than have their cells become prokaryotes at this point
"As soon as the cells send out the signal for help, your body releases a SHOGGOTH." Seriously that animation was way cooler than most I've seen for white blood cells haha.
Dead space 4 should include ripping apart the moons with planet crackers. Dismemberment kills necromorphs, so it could kill the brother moons. Also when Isaac uses the Ishimura to pull the moon Titan to realign the car tracks, director tidman said "those gravity tethers will pull the whole moon apart"
5:55 that's so crazy, it's like a predator hunting prey in a jungle, it's wild how this is literally going on inside us all the time on a massive scale but smaller than the eye can see
Haha, microbiologist here... interesting job trying to make sense of this world. Though - and you know - connecting the human immune system with the marker's mental control mechanisms wouldn't really work in this manner. But fun video nonetheless! 👌🏾

@@danielm.595 O, that reminds me of the game I backed on kick starter by the same devs called Mein Waifu is the fuhrer. Should be pretty good.
The music choice on this video is just spectacular.

Finally, Roanoke will tell me how to make the bacteria. I have been trying for a while now but without a marker, it's been tough.
remove the organelles and let the the DNA run wild!
@@RoanokeGaming That sounds dangerous.
Request on a biological analysis on the parasite from Cold Fear (2005)?

Bacterium: "yay! We're invading! Wheeeeee!"
White blood cell (While bacterium panic): "HAH HAH! HAH HAH HAH HAH! HAH! YOU CAN'T ESCAPE MEEEE!"
When I was younger and pessimistic i felt that humanity as a whole behaved like a virus. Now roanoke basically confirms it in this video lol
Would you say, you pitied them mr T?

Perfekt timing for afternoon tea! There is nothing better than to have a steeming cup of tea while enjoying roanoke teaching me more biology!!!
Another addition to the "has properties similar to viruses but aren't viruses" list is the viroid, the smallest infectious particle known to man
not a biology expert but aren't prions basically crazy protein chains that mess with functional proteins and cause all sorts of troubles?

Oh my God I've been disconnected from the internet for a bit. I come back and some how you've made ANOTHER Dead Space video.
Im stoked. I thought we had none left.
ironically, I have another one coming out tomorrow lol
@@RoanokeGaming YOOO thats so hype! I cant wait to see it.
I appreciate all the work you've done for us brother! I love your vids.
I would absolutely love to hear your theories of Viruses could be lifeforms or some spooky theory of they are being extraterrestrial
Or the actual differentiations between Actual alien marker or the black markers and the artificial red markers
Roanoke playing subnautica: starting whit the fe...
I find it incredible that he keeps finding things to talk about in Dead Space! Cheers dude for all the work you do, it's incredible :)
So, would a field of bio energy be the antithesis of something like the Marker Signal?
4:22 No there would be so much more left. For instance we know early hominids existed from their bones and material culture (stuff they made).
BS, I hope I live long enough to see your offsprings deal with climate change. I also hope I still have popcorn at that time, oh the joyous time
Roanoke my friend, because of you I have began playing Dead Space. For that I thank you.
The strength of these hands to milk so much from a single franchise. Fuck it, I ain't complaining, this is good content!
Dead Space is the Catalina Wine Mixer of Horror and it deserves the recognition as such.
Dead Space is my favourite dating simulator.
Well, if i skip the Raid Ad, and my boy Roanoke still gets supported and money, it's a win win.
I thought of something
There was a thing about how a cancer dogs can get that has the dna from an ancient breed
Is there a way you could explain it?
the only thing to give me a night terror.....nothing is more terrifying than seeing Isaac's woman standing over you whispering to you "make us whole"......
Eukaryotic cells can’t just “devolve into a prokaryotic form.” Those are vastly different evolutionary trees with significant genetic differences compounded over 1-2 billion years. Humans are more likely to become giraffes than have their cells become prokaryotes at this point
"As soon as the cells send out the signal for help, your body releases a SHOGGOTH."
Seriously that animation was way cooler than most I've seen for white blood cells haha.
Why does the video just suddenly cut off?
ay nice to see you back fam
Is the video meant to cut off at the end?
Roanoke your dead space videos are like the necromorphs themselves, they don’t stay dead and I love it!
Is that the safe room music from RE3 I hear? 😍😍😍😍
I love Dead space. I've always wondered how the transformation happens. Nice explanation, very interesting.
"we like to have too much fun"
You sure? Seems people have the amazing ability to fight about and ruin everything including sex.
The Eldar are the epitome of that, fucked so much they created a new deity.
"Quirky" somehow describes Dead Space, yet doesn't at the same time.
I remember when we were promised an explanation on the bacteria on the Exploder and Infector videos.
Worth the wait
Hell yeah more of my favorite game, makes me feel nostalgic about your channel.
Hey um the video is shorter then it used to be
5:55 that's so crazy, it's like a predator hunting prey in a jungle, it's wild how this is literally going on inside us all the time on a massive scale but smaller than the eye can see
Why does this video end so abruptly
Back at it with the classic topics, nice.
Haha, microbiologist here...
interesting job trying to make sense of this world.
Though - and you know - connecting the human immune system with the marker's mental control mechanisms wouldn't really work in this manner.
But fun video nonetheless! 👌🏾
