I couldn't agree with him more that "Skin Deep" is one of his most intense, layered and nuanced tv performances... its what made me realize what really beautiful actor he is.
I literally clappy clapped when he said his favorite (or highlight) episode was #12 - Skin Deep. I seriously have watched that one at least four times now. And then at the end of Season 1 when they're reunited. . . Unabashedly a RumBelle fan.
When he talks about defining the character for a younger generation that is 100% true. I had never seen him in anything before ouat. I also didn’t really have much familiarity with the character. For me rumplestiltskin will always be Robert Carlyle. He makes the show like he makes the character like he spins gold. Like how I associate The disney princesses with colorful dresses rumplestiltskin is Robert’s laugh or hand movements. I could literally watch ouat with all other characters removed except him. He saw this great opportunity and I’m so glad he took it. I’m just sad that the show turned kind of melodramatic as I don’t think that was necessary to captivate my attention and it had great potential
He was brilliant in Cracker. I'd watched series one of OUAT and whilst I'd enjoyed bits I wasn't that keen on going back. Then I saw him in Cracker over lockdown, immediately watched the Full Monty again and went straight back to OUAT.

I really loved Skin Deep, not only for the plot but the acting was so stunning as well! I think it is some serious shame they started to involve Disney in the fairy tales, it doesn't seem quite right to me. The episodes used to have unique stories with their own twists but now they are just copycats
