Dear Ones - I'm selling my beautiful perfect house.
Why?
Because I'm a restless person and I need to move all the time. It's time to move, then! Otherwise, there is no sane reason to sell this exquisite and lovingly renovated "four-over-four" Italianate Victorian house that was built in 1869 by the great-grandson of John Reading (the first governor of New Jersey and a hero of the Revolutionary War.)
Let me tell you about the place.
This handsome nine-room, four bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom house has everything, and needs NOTHING.
The most stunning feature of the house is a magnificent 1400sq library in the attic (with a romantic cupola and 360 degree views). This space, called "the Skybrary" (the library in the sky) was handcrafted for me over three years by a master woodworker. The Skybrary contains hidden drawers, secret cupboards and elaborately hand-carved shelves- also a king-sized built-in "napping bed" (for extra creative energy!) I wrote both "Committed" and "The Signature of All Things" here. The Skybrary has been written about rapturously in both the New York Times and O Magazine. This enchanting, unique creative space is too magical to be described, and must be seen to be believed. It is also heated, air-conditioned and well-insulated, for year-round use.
Other features of the home include:
In conclusion, this property is a piece of heaven, in the quietest and most romantic corner of the state. It is private enough for two people to live in utter seclusion, but welcoming enough to absorb a giant and warm family reunion without anyone being crowded. It is a house that breathes light, air, space and tranquility. Summer parties on the lawn are just as appealing as cozy winter evenings alone by the woodstove. This is a home for readers, writers, artists, creatives, collectors, inventors, gardeners, dreamers, imaginative children, lovers of beauty. We've spent six years making every inch of this special place absolutely perfect and gorgeous, but now we are now moving on to the next chapter of our lives!
SO...is this the next chapter of YOUR life?
♡LG
This was my family home. It belonged Great Grandparents, The Smiths. I grew up playing here. So many fond memories. I actually cried watching this video.
kimmy ❤️
Wow. What memories for you. God bless you.
That is beautiful!
my good friend donna a artist lived across the street from that house.
Omg the Skybrary was SO beautiful 🥹🙏
The tin ceilings and the wood stove/fireplace in the kitchen... 😱😱😱... The powder room with the Balinese stone sink on local railroad ties!!! The Buddha wall in the garden and picket fence!!! Willow tree, Wisteria, and outhouse garden shed.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
You are as vibrant on cam as you are in writing
omg can I just go live in the skylibrary??? No one would know I was there. I'd never come down. Ever.
I think she likes the thrill of the creation/ispiration when you move into a new house you have to make it your own by personalizing it ...so this process it's a very good reason....How do I know this I feel the same way..and I like to move because of it!!! It's like a challenge for me!!! Love her personality and house!!!
Love the cozy kitchen! All of the secrets behind the cabinets!
What I especially love is how the guy behind the camera filming you keeps laughing with all your funny jokes. It makes me laugh. :)
Lovely place!
That "Skybrary" is AMAZING. I have romantic visions of writing (and reading) fascinating novels up there.
Sherry Sink I edited out so much of my laughing, that was he hardest part!
Hi Liz, I love you! You're my guru. Just listening to you makes me feel peaceful. Thank you - I really don't know what state I'd be in without your words and wisdom.
Of late, I fall asleep listening to her voice! 💜💜💜
I can't believe you want to move. But when you said that you just feel like moving, I understood. I've read your numbers, and as a 5 Life Path, you love change and adventure. The 5 just can't stay in one place! I love your skybray!
OMG the Skybrary is amazing!
OMG it is so is!!!!
This is a completely stunning home! Literally my dream house. Thanks for sharing!
My gosh it's magnificent! There are no words. I would buy it in an instant if I could. :) Whoever the next owner is, is one lucky person. You did an amazing job on that house, Liz.
Beautiful house/location. I love all of the details and charm. My significant other and I started living in an RV some years ago because of our desire to constantly move. We typically get antsy if we're in one place for over a year, so I can identify with your desire to move after six years, even if the house is amazing.
So good to know we share a pathology! 😁 This house of yours... and it's Skybrary are full of beauty and magic! Congratulations on your creations. 😍
Wow..!! LOVE that attic and how the space was used..! Along with the little secret compartments.. Love that kitchen and everything hidden in plain sight.. And that garden..
I have drawn my "dream house" and this house has aspects of it....
This house is very beautiful. You've done a wonderful job on the house...and the garden.
I hope your next place is just as lovely....but I'm sure you'll make that way.
I wish you well Elizabeth. :)
This is like a dream for me. Why would you leave this beautiful place. It's perfect :-)
Your house/garden is beautiful. I can't afford something like this now but one day...soon.
Elizabeth, you have an magical place. You are awesome and love your spirit. I have read and watched the movie EAT PRAY LOVE so many times. I have been to all of the places you were and absolutely love the photography in the film. Wish you the best and I am sure whoever buys this place will be very happy. It is beautiful that you enjoy living in the present moment. You go girl. . .
When I discover my elusive creative genius and make "Eat, Pray, Love" kind of money, I'd love to buy that house.
Beautiful home 🏡... wish to have such a home one day!
You are amazing! Thanks for the beautiful video.

Love your house Liz! I can understand the moving thing...my husband and I do a lot of that too...plus we love travel.
All the best,

Can't wait to visit Two Buttons again!
Loved your home.... Beautiful
Beautiful house...and you crack me up. A Definite Plus. Too bad you don't come with the house. :)
Elizabeth Gilbert I've read all all your books and I LOVE YOU, my mother is an author, I would love for you to see her work
Uncle: "You have a great place here!" Yes, I know. I never said otherwise. I was all-but-homeless in the 1990s, Uncle. Sometimes working too. Always helping out my parents with their houses and vehicles. My only complaint is being square in the center of town. I'd prefer the far edge of Elk City or something. Incognito.
I love all the little secret places this house has. But (if I could buy it) I wouldn't know what to do with all that space tbh.
Very nice beautiful home , Can’t even imagine to own such a home . I guess some body shouldn’t sale this kind of home if she could manage herself with this home maintaining expenses
That skybrary is heavenly
Wonderful!!
What an incredible house
And amazing house!!! Its gorgeous.
I love your house, but I really love your sky-barry!
Home is where the historical footage is.
Why would she want to sell the house for no particular reason. It's brilliant and inspiring I wish I could have it.
Wow! This is incredible
Great house, and great that you sold it to "Move" on...…..!!
I love your contagious laugh!
Oh my god I love this house and wanted to watch the video the whole way through, but I got motion sickness from watching this. Please hold the camcorder more steadily!!!! don't move around so quickly!!!! LOVE the house Ms. Gilbert!
I would just live in the attic!!
Beautiful, mysterious house. You want to move, Elizabeth? Where?
Lovely home! Who is the artist of the wonderful large paintings in your upstairs bedrooms?
Thanks!
Very nice craft details in the top Library room. Would be nice for both the artist and the viewer to know who was the artist behind this amazing wood shelves and desk creations in the room. Artist need they info to be put out at any occasion thank you!
I was reading the NYT article about it and the artist carpenter who did the Skybrary carving is Michael Flood.
great thanks !

Elizabeth Gilbert what is the first song playing in the video? I love it
Most people hate moving. Why do you love it?
P.S. How are the Mallards and Hansons these days? Maybe Taylor knows?
.....and I thought I was the only person who loves to move!
You’re so amazing! As a human being, as a writer/creator and a realtor:) I guess your gipsy soul is calling for you to explore other territories. Where to, may I ask? Same here, I have been accused of having a Gypsy soul. What’s wrong with that, I’m asking?
Im in love!!!!!
Hi Liz , is this house still for sale ? Or already sold ??
what are the neighbors like tho?
I want to buy it.
someone please buy it for me!
My house is my house....lush green all emenitis and luxury.
can you please be my aunt, so I can visit you every once in a while, like every second weekend? I would feel perfectly at home at you skybrary!
Wow!!!
If you want , you can buy it! Lol. If you have a million. Or you could have bought her Miami apartment for 2 million. And the sale was for a very particular reason; she split from husband to be with Rayya Elias.
magic
SKYBRERRY!!!!!!
Awwww Rayya was your property manager
And haha, you're in your personal year cycle of 5, it's all about change and movement!
Did you sell the house?
my good its like you have a hotel.
Cutest woman alive
I watch eat pray and love.I don't know that Liz Gilbert is the author
You're hilarious.
This house is incredibly beautiful. I think the price is totally worth what you get. I'm selling my beautiful home in Las Vegas NV. I'm selling myself along with the house. I want to become the Caretaker Extraordinaire of the home, for someone who is wealthy and wants to buy a vacation home in the West. I say extraordinaire, because I am an Artist, Inventor, and Adventurer. I have combined my talents and created a beautiful, unique, rustic, cowboy designed home. Someone who enjoys being taken care of, and not having to worry about a thing, will love the home that I am selling. If you know of anyone who would be interested, just have them message me.
Have you sold your home yet?
💙💙💙💙💙📖☕
It's the house of my dreams
Is she buzzed or does it seem like she just took a huge bong hit prior to filming this?
+Cannon Fodder
Nope, that's just her sense of humor. :)
project much?
She fell in love with someone else and got divorced. Nothing lasts forever 🤷♀️
I wonder if she was selling it because of a pending wind turbine invasion? Common in the country these days.
terrible filming ... I head started spinning and started to feel nauseated and realized it's because of this video 🤢
Y'know, I think there's something seriously wrong with this hyperactive, silly woman. Oh, and another thing: her much-publicized second divorce? She said that she doesn't wish to talk about it. OH, REALLY??? Do you mean that you're not going to CASH IN on your SECOND divorce like you did on your first? You're not going to write a MEMOIR about it? (after receiving a huge advance from your publisher)?
idk why but I really dislike this place
It sure sounds like she has been drinking a wee too much of her husband's wine. It is a really nice house.
Dear that was wounderful.the amazing handcraft.
Definitely not my style, not even close.
