It hurts when I think about how lanzhan actually waited for weiying without knowing he’ll really come back. Their love was never really expressed fully in the chinese drama or mdzs anime but in the novel, people said they expressed it well and that they actually had a relationship. when taking that into consideration, lanzhan was going to risk it all for him🥺 during the 13 years, he blamed himself for not standing with his loved one. I want someone to cherish me like lanzhan did to weiying, someone who’s willing to wait, but I also don’t want them to not have a happy life. IM GONNA CRY-
they didn't have a formal relationship at the beginning, but lwj was in love with him and wwx wasn't aware that he liked him until he came back :c they are so cute in the novel, specially the latest chap ꈍ .̮ ꈍ
There’s one big genre for that (aside from BL) called Xianxia which includes mythology, ghosts, demons, etc inspired by Daoism. There’s another one called Xuanhuan that’s really similar but lacking elements of Dao like yin and yang, immortal, and all that. If u wanna find more masterpieces like Mo Dao Zu Shi, try using those genres 👌🏻
Lan Wangji must have missed him a lot. Especially when he didn't even have the chance to say he loves him. I mean it's obvious, in his eyes and actions that he loves Wei Wuxian. It's heartbreaking to see him wait for him for a very long time, he doesn't have any assurance if Wei Wuxian will even be back. But he still waited for him.

In the anime, lan zhan tells weiying to come back with him to lan clan (when he returns from the burial mountain that he was thrown into) In the drama, he tells his brother he has someone that he wants to bring back and hide away from the world So when weiying was summoned back, and lan zhan immediately took him back with him, i thought, "ahh, he must have regretted not being able to bring him back with him before..", i was crying so much😭❤
In the anime he also says about bringing someone back to hide them there. That part hit me so hard because he wanted to save Wei Ying. But he didn't explain why to Wei Ying, so he was refused. In the book he actually tried to grab Wei Ying.
What makes me stressed out is The novel, anime, Manhwa and Live action have a bit DIFFERENT plot. When I read the novel, then I tryin to remember what happened next in the anime, when I watch the live action, I tryin to connect the story with the anime. Gosh, the feeling of ‘never get enough’ is consuming me. But I think, the manhwa has closest plot with the novel.

@@Callisto171 I totally agree, but Wangji and Wuxian have the sweetest relationship ever. It upsets me that it's censored in the donghua. Basically made all of the sweet moments less sweet. People who don't read the novel won't understand how the author actually wanted to depicted their relationship. I feel like their relationship was pretty subtle until towards the end.
The art is so beautiful and high quality, I am so grateful that they turn it into a donghua. While watching this I started to remember the scene from the novel. I hope they doesn't cut too much part out.

what i love most is the scene near the ending, when WWX grabs a bottle of wine and drinks on the donkey. it matches the lyrics well and shows a feeling of freedom from a lot of sufferings. life is never easy for him, but WWX's nature is to be optimistic, and nothing can stop him from enjoying life, even the divastating fate. now, his life is like the wine, combined with grief and happiness. best wishes for you

I really like these kinds of BLs, I mean they are obviously cannon but that's not all the focus of the story, there are many enjoyable plot aside from their relationship but their relationship is also one of those, better than shonen with just bromance (never gonna be cannon plot)

This novel/anime/drama made my heart so fragile and sad. I can't describe how beautiful it is. So subtle yet so rampant with the emotions that whirl around it. It shows how a person can be good and bad, circumstances change them. It just shows how love is pure, beautiful and unconditional.

Omgggg same I saw this 4 years ago and it sucked me in. I watch season 1, then somehow managed to endure waiting for the second to come out. But the wait for the 3rd season was unbearable that I read the novel. But the thing was I started reading from where season 2 ended. so when a certain ‘scene’ came up I was shocked senseless that I threw my phone across the room and started screaming. In the drama, this and every other scene was expressed so well, even though it was heavily censored, even though they never voiced it, you could clearly see the love they have in every look they shared, in everything they did, "actions speak louder than words", best example for the drama, and the actors are truly great to have expressed it so well, so natural, it's heartacheing 😭❤

Having read the novel (novel hit me the most out of all the other adaptions), watched the donghua & The Untamed, and listening to all the audio dramas, thinking about it now makes me feel nostalgic. I've grown out of it, but I still feel so fond, remembering everything
this was THE mv that brought me to mdzs and now coming back to this again really brings back so many memories, the life before graduating from high school, the life before all the dramas, and before the world changed because of covid... I really miss that part of me, just pure intentions of this world, and just pure thoughts about what love is.

i first read the manhua before watching the donghua. I was captivated by it but i was confused at the same time. Then I recently watched the drama (the first drama that I finished, I'm really not fond of watching drama) and it brought every tears in my eyes. But the novel really express the "longing and love" between them. After finishing it, I want to read it again and again because it's a true masters piece.
I just realized that but Lan Zhan knew from the start it was Wei Ying, so when he said “I’m bringing him back to Lan Clan”, it’s actually referring to the time when WY came back with his demonic cultivation and LZ asked WY to go back with him only to be rejected because he wasn’t part of his clan. This time it’s Jiang Cheng who wants to take him and it’s LZ who manages to have him. It’s the exact opposite compared to the past, like LZ was saying “i won’t lose you a second time”.

So we've got no complains with how clingy and obvious he was when Wei Ying returned lol! I'm really happy for him- He deserves the world; and also our precious WY who has suffered a lot. @@Callisto171 I totally agree, but Wangji and Wuxian have the sweetest relationship ever. It upsets me that it's censored in the donghua. Basically made all of the sweet moments less sweet. People who don't read the novel won't understand how the author actually wanted to depicted their relationship. I feel like their relationship was pretty subtle until towards the end.

I just wanna tell this to somebody but I don't have anyone so I'll share it here. GETTING INTO THIS FANDOM WAS THE BEST DECISION IN MY LIFE. After I've read MDZS I've been affected for quite some time, I still sometimes think about this novel, coz it was brilliant and I shall forever mark it as a masterpiece. This novel got me into reading other chinese novels as well, which I would normally never even think of. But the wait for the 3rd season was unbearable that I read the novel. Aprendí a medir mis palabras con ese "todos los días son todos los días" 😂🤣🤣 Aprendí a ser mas precavida y al mismo tiempo a atreverme a hacer las cosas que amo sin matarme, solo por diversión, de verdad esta historia es hermosa, bella, única, el donhua, manhua, live action, la novela y los audios son maravillosos, me hacen reír, llorar, mejor dicho me hacen muy feliz y en medio de la pandemia esta historia fue simplemente maravillosa, un lugar donde podía respirar, un lugar donde veía que las cosas pueden ir mal y bien, que las acciones son acciones y no definen completamente a alguien. Anime and Cartoon ARE the same. The main difference is that Anime is called Anime so that people know it's from Japan (because Japanese Animation is that freaking good). And before you even start, I've been watching anime since I was 5 years old and I'm currently 34. Just listen to the person who's most likely has been an Otaku more years than you've been alive. This is a stupid debate that I for one is SICK of hearing over and over again. Here is what I always say: People not into anime, please stop trolling, people who like anime, please stop making us Otakus look bad for not knowing something so simple. Further break down: Anime = Japanese Animation/Cartoon.....Cartoons = any animation made anywhere else in the world. It's honestly not that freaking hard to understand.

anime is just the short abbreviation Japanese use for animation. It doesn't necessarily equal Japanese animation. Although most anime are from Japan.

You can watch it on Viki.com or on the viki app. They are a legit company where you can watch asian dramas on. In The Untamed, Lan wangji is played by Wang Yibo( chinese idol ) and Wei Wuxian is played by Xiao Zhan( also Chinese idol ). The soundtracks of that Chinese drama are very beautiful! Because of this chinese drama, I bought a Dizi( Chinese bamboo flute ) hihi

In the drama, this and every other scene was expressed so well, even though it was heavily censored, even though they never voiced it, you could clearly see the love they have in every look they shared, in everything they did, "actions speak louder than words", best example for the drama, and the actors are truly great to have expressed it so well, so natural, it's heartacheing 😭❤
This was the very MV that got me into Mo Dao Zu Shi... Despite this coming out just about 3 years ago, I feel so old, remembering my intense obsession & passion for this beautiful masterpiece. Having read the novel (novel hit me the most out of all the other adaptions), watched the donghua & The Untamed, and listening to all the audio dramas, thinking about it now makes me feel nostalgic. I've grown out of it, but I still feel so fond, remembering everything

只要别自毁长城打着提倡什么正确思想制作卖肉的低俗故事就不会低质量，我看小说资历不算太高但是我们中华文学还没到要单靠卖肉卖骚卖萌博眼球。 最近几年日本作品中心思想的质量有点下滑，抹杀了好多经典角色，说好读者和角色一起成长，结果角色一朝回到解放前，从前的奋斗励志都成了笑话。新品大多就是娱乐娱乐大众，卖萌卖肉，没了味道，好故事真的越来越少了真想给制作公司一巴掌让他们清醒点。
i first read the manhua before watching the donghua. I was captivated by it but i was confused at the same time. Then I recently watched the drama (the first drama that I finished, I'm really not fond of watching drama) and it brought every tears in my eyes. But the novel really express the "longing and love" between them. After finishing it, I want to read it again and again because it's a true masters piece.

I just realized that but Lan Zhan knew from the start it was Wei Ying, so when he said “I’m bringing him back to Lan Clan”, it’s actually referring to the time when WY came back with his demonic cultivation and LZ asked WY to go back with him only to be rejected because he wasn’t part of his clan. This time it’s Jiang Cheng who wants to take him and it’s LZ who manages to have him. It’s the exact opposite compared to the past, like LZ was saying “i won’t lose you a second time”.

AHhh, bittersweet. Lan Zhan lost the person he cares and loved the most. And that was like 13 years of waiting! So we've got no complains with how clingy and obvious he was when Wei Ying returned lol!
I'm really happy for him- He deserves the world; and also our precious WY who has suffered a lot. They deserved a happy ending. I'm quite glad with the silly plans of 'you know who', if it's not for him, WY wouldn't be there...
p.s. really loved the novel i've spent days to finish it and it was worth it; the live action is superb n i love them; and hm i'm not used watching donghuas, but i'm glad i've checked the donghua, didn't know the donghua is good~

Tbh, i was really scared of trying this donghua. First, its the first ever donghua i watch, and ik that there's BL content. but iwas simply too curious because of the awesome trailer. it has everything that i ever want in anime. and i dont regret it at all. im so thankful that i decide to try. in both anime and drama, it is for sure not completely straight (cough). but there's no obvious BL content on it. but i still end up shipping and loving the relationship btwn the two so much.
Lan zhan in anime shows so much more emotion than in drama. *HIS EYES* HE LOOKS SO MUCH IN LOVE. since the first time they met, he was always affected by anything that wei ying did. all those unintentional flirt that wei ying does. but wei ying never understood him.
I always thought that the one that loves the other so much more was lan zhan. to wei ying, it was like a crush. but then turns to love because of how lan zhan treat and treasure him so much.
welllll im sooo going to read the manhua and novel now. idc about BL content anymore. i just can never get enough of this story. and our precious WangXian.

Okay. Not being a spoilsport or what but this song is already popularized as Xu Feng and JinMi's Ashes of Love theme song. I got confused for a while there and thought they just sound the same at the beginning until the vocals started and realized it is indeed Ashes of Love OST.lol
Watched the anime, read the novel and manhua and just finished the live action (drama) for this. I am so in love with the story of Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) even if I don't watch BL.lol I just love the relationship between Lan Zhan/Lan WangJi/Lan HwangJun and Wei WuXian/Wei Ying/Yiling Ptriarch. They are the perfect couple..soulmates rather. Shipping these two so much.haha cannot get enough of them so I am watching all videos related to the show. Gosh my heart! It's a good thing the anime and manhua has not ended yet. I still have them to look forward to.
