As an American born in 1968, I can really only ever experience Mod through the legend. But I have a great time with it. I love Thee 'Oo's album, I love the movie. No scooter, and I've never encountered the novelization, but I did find out exactly what kind of parka Jimmy wears and bought my own through Army surplus. It's been my heavy winter coat for years. Nice video, Roy!

Wow, top work getting the authentic parka! I really enjoyed the album this time around - now that my punk antennae don't recoil at the slightest hint of synthesisers and brass instruments.

I enjoyed the vid, Roy. I had no idea there was a novelisation of the film. The album is superb. Arguably The Who's best. I saw the film when it first came out and watched it again a couple of years back. It was much better than I thought. Very similar story to Saturday Night Fever, but I'd say Quadrophenia is the better film.

Ooh sharp suit and sharp video Roy. Loved this. Fabulous album, love the film and now I’m going to have to read the book. Great video 😊

You clean up nice. Like the suit. I never made it to Brighton but when I took off on my own by rail to London my granddad said, “Watch out for the Mods and Rockers.” Never saw any of either.

@@royreadsanything I was completely safe. It was one of my favorite times there. Wandering around London for days staying at a local hostel-one bathroom for many. It was memorable.

Thanks - I was about 3 when Mod happened so too young to have an opinion at the time on correct styles of jacket vents etc. I may have overheard my parents tutting at accounts of the Bank Holiday rucks.

This does sound like a non-trashy novelisations! Somehow I’ve never seen the movie (or listened to the album, for that matter)

With all this talk about mods and rockers, I thought I recalled some reference to the terms in "A Hard Day's Night." So I went down that rabbit hole and this was the result: "..when Ringo is asked if he is a mod or a rocker, he replies: "Uh, no, I'm a mocker," a line derived from a joke he had made on the TV show Ready Steady Go!."
I think that early '60s men's style imitating the French and Italian of the New Wave is actually timeless.
I have to ask: Is that suit vintage?

I'm coming to see Ringo as the best one. Suit is a recent one from a Mod vendor - I may wear it to my Graduation next week
