      I have several, about 15 years old each. Every summer they go outside and get rejuvenated as they love brighter light than most of us can deliver, in Canada, in the winter. (It’s the bright light that gives the leaves their colour, if you didn’t know.)

    Thanks a lot for sharing this informative video... Even I had a leggy coroton that is about to touch the sky... Saw your this video few days back, tried the same thing with my croton as well... And guess what there are visible shoots growing up in the Parent plant thankfully... Not sure, but really hopeful that the cutting will also shoot up soon... Really thank you so much for this explanation and update, it gives moral support, strength, assurance, confidence & encouragement to go ahead with prunning... As you said 'Never feel guilty about prunning the plant'... Got wonderful results... Thanks again... Take care and God bless you... 🙏😇🌲

    I screamed a little when you did the first cut on the leggy croton. But after seeing the final product I see that the pruning did help. Still, I've never pruned my plants like that. I'll be apologizing to them as I cut/ prune. I have a mammy croton who is getting leggy and needs more color.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  2 года назад

      @Monica X, I can totally feel you..and it's not just about Croton, I feel bad to prune any plants. But, whenever we grow in pots (as we don't have lots of space), we need to prune them to keep them in shape. Anyway, the harsh truth is that they don't want to be grown in pots or in containers. But at the same time, we are not doing anything bad or wrong by growing plants in pots. Plus, we are really doing great thing and that's why, no need to worry about pruning :-) I have many plants which are around 4-5 years old and for all those, I need to prune them on yearly basis as I am growing all of them in pots. If I had land, of course I would have grown many plants directly in ground. Happy Gardening :-)
