You should check out the stinger cap nail gun. It’s more expensive then staples by far but just as fast. That’s if you care to follow most underlay manufacturers. I bought one awhile back because I been doin a lot of nail base for peel and stick. Works really good 😎
Hey Eric. Question about peel and stick. Everywhere I read I’m told to put mastic on side laps. I was taught to use torch and burn in really good. Heat and scrape granules off if needed. What do you do on your side laps
Clean roof Eric. My question on this one is about debris goin In attic. I know you tear off in a way to keep most out but do you bother yourself with it or leave for the rat’s?
We try to clean and blow evrything to the wall side and then pick it up from there. Sometimes we lay down pieces of plastic sheathing to catch most of the debris...about the dust from plywood we try to blow it off
Hey Eric. When you were mentioning about nailing down the plywood at the ends 6 inches apart (spaces), and then the middle only needs 12, did you mean that a sheet of osb (over strapping) only needs 3 lines of nailing?
I mean...on the butt joins we need to install nails every 6 inches and in the center of the board( the field) the code says at 12 inches apart ( i do it at 10 inches)
I don't do solar panels , I only do roof installation, maybe will install solar panel roof shortly , I have to take the class tho , thanks for the update. Eric Garcia
@@edjur1124 on presidential shakes you follow the manufacturer guide line and measures of 5 and 15 , the shingles has marks already and no need to snap chalk lines
No bro... you are wrong and sorry to say that... here is a tip for you when you install plywood. The 1x6 board under the plywood is cut 1.5 inches from the center of the 2x4... then since there’s a bigger gap under the plywood all you need to do is cut the plywood in a 45 angle cut to channel all the air flow thru the 1.5 cut on the plywood. And having a 7 inch ridge vent you don’t have much room to expand the cut any further out or you’ll have leaks
@@theroofbeaver remember the manufacturer is not there when the roof leaks. You are fully responsible for any workmanship defects . They always avoid any responsibility by blaming it on the installers . It’s like insurance companies they always try to avoid any responsibility at any cost.

The guy I work with thinks sheeting a roof is like Tetris, if there's gaps he just goes with it. Especially at like valleys and hips/ridges, he always ends up having a 1inch gap there which annoys me cause whenever I do it the proper way he gets irritated because I use accurate measurements instead of just rounding it down a inch
I guess it doesn't actually matter all that much if it's only a inch gap because the sheeting is just so the roofing nails can grip onto something but still, roof looks way nicer when it's done right vs having gaps everywhere
he is probably a messy roofer, I hate people like that , that claim that felt and roof will cover their mess underneath , I like close cuts because it looks cosmetically good! keep the good work Josh , nothing wrong with it , at the end it pays off. thanks for the comment. Eric Garcia

Plywood isn’t just for the shingle to grip something. It’s structural, it keeps trusses from swaying. And it holds does hold weight snow water etc. in this video It doesn’t matter since the 1x5 is doing that. But osb really needs to be installed correctly or it won’t pass inspection

I'm going to buy one of those and put to the test
I was told they break easy. But if I’m being honest I stepped in a hole like a rookie with it in my hand and the gun hit plywood hard. No damage.
Eric you are number 1 roofer
Thank you Sal!!!
Perfecto Garcia Eric. Nice and straight and even. Have you ever found a house that could not take the extra weight of plywood?
Hey Myron Piano !! nice to see you on my channel !
so far my answer is no, plywood is not that heavy

Hi Eric, hace trabajo en el valley de San Fernando?
Clean roof Eric. My question on this one is about debris goin In attic. I know you tear off in a way to keep most out but do you bother yourself with it or leave for the rat’s?
Leave them. Of course the workers have to try not drop big debris into it but if some saw dust, splinters fall into it then just don't bother.
We try to clean and blow evrything to the wall side and then pick it up from there. Sometimes we lay down pieces of plastic sheathing to catch most of the debris...about the dust from plywood we try to blow it off

is it necessary to have the ends of the sheets to land on a rafter ?
no if you want to save plywood

Eric what’s your cost for installing Capistrano tile
It all depends if i buy the materials or just labor
Your ridge vents should be cut 1.5 inch from the edge of the ridge board, not the center of it 😁 ( or 2.25" from center of ridge board )

Yes we do ! The house on the video was done in Whittier
Albeit good work & i dont diss your skill iq, this is not plywood roofing. This is chipboard, two different mats.
