Bro I have a golf 1 also with a relay so we redid the engen the engen it was an 1600 but then I fitted a 1300 motor now it’s cranking just like how your it was doing on the video but then don’t start I’ve changed plugs to new ones and even bought new spark plugs cables also but still the same , you can see the spark is there , petrol is pumping and compression is there so I’m suspecting maybe it’s true relay also but mine is located in front engen bay right side on the body
After this happened to my car I researched a bunch of videos and finally cracked it. So, in the video the mechanic is replacing the 'fuel pump relay', the fuel pump relay is found within where he taps at 0:19 (you'll have to unscrew a bunch of screws and detach some things), on his model of car the relay is located by 109, you swap the fuel pump relay for a new fuel pump relay which are relatively inexpensive, and your car should start if that's the issue! I have the similar issue if not the same I have a 1999 vw golf 2.0L when I bought it the guy told me that it’s me sitting for a good while so it’s probably just going to need a new fuel so I bought it and I replaced the fuel pump with a new one and still nothing it’s like no power is going to the new fuel pump I did what you did expect different i also have a 06 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 that’s running and driving fine I took off the fuel relay off of that one to put it in the Golf and still nothing both fuse I assume are the same because they’re both numbered 109
The issue with my car is sum times it dont turn on at all but it does not make noise like this one I have to keep trying 2 or 4 times till it starts again

Bad solder on relay PCB. Just resolder tha cracked ones
