  • Jesus Christ, the selfless Servant, is not "willing that any should perish" (2 Peter 3:9). He came in the flesh and touched contagious, sick, and demon-possessed people-He healed them and He forgave their sins. He ate with tax collectors and sinners-the ones that needed to be saved. The Pharisees scorned Him for that. But He didn't mind, because He didn't come to pour new life into an old system, He came to bring something brand new.
This teaching is from our series Matthew - 2011 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

I always read in awe when Jesus healed the paraplegic. He not only healed his spine but He rebuilt all his muscles that were atrophied.

Forgiving a person's sins is more important than healing. Jesus forgave him his sins which he needed the most then healed him which is awesome. Been sick for a few days glad to be back with you in Mark in studying God's Word!

I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos as I study through different books. I will say I disagree with you on one point here. Everyone says the faith is solely on the friends' shoulders. But I disagree. The paralytic had to have faith. You can't get saved ("your sins are forgiven") based on your friends' faith. Had Jesus only healed, but not saved, I'd be more apt to agree it could just be the friends who had faith. But because of the salvation - the paralytic had to have faith.

Mariam, Moses sister, was cleansed of leprosy by GOD.

But Skip, How did Jesus react when the leper said, "If you're willing"? It says Jesus became angry. I want to please God with my prayers. So I never pray "if it's your will."
I lay hands on the sick often. I think only about 5% are miraculously, instantaneously healed, but that's a lot better than the 0% if I didn't pray. (I saw such a healing 4 days ago.)
Christian, you also ought to believe God for miracles!
