That looks a really lovely area, and good on you for hiking all the way up so we could see the view. Massive respect also to all the builders and workman back in the day who had to climb up to get all those buildings built.
Your best video to date! Very enjoyable and informative using local knowledge to give the great overview of Guardelest. More please-you are in such a rich cultural area it would be good to share. Walked around the reservoir a few years ago and you bring back such happy memories. Stopped at a great tapas restaurant in a village adjoining the reservoir where a house adjoining the road had the most amazing rose garden-fragrance everywhere! Thank you.
Definitely keen to see more content like this Lucy, well done on a fantastic video. I’m planning on being a regular to Spain especially the Alicante region so this is definitely ticking my boxes ❤
Hi that was an excellent video and i really enjoyed it. That was a lovely village and the castle looked so awesome and wow what stunning views from the top.
Love this, great idea to show what is out and about around Benidorm, yes please, more of this. Of course we want to see you go through the 700m tunnel under the town if possible. What an expedition that will be. Well done to your camera person as well for keeping it all in focus. Love it!
Thanks John, give our sponsors a click will you 🙏 encourage them to sponsor us again. It was much easier to film from this car than crammed in my little hatchback lol
Most people never venture out of their resorts and miss all these stunning places and vistas. You don't even need a map, just drive inland and head for the hills and you'll soon come across the real Spain.
What a fantastic video Lucy. Thank you for posting this, it’s really good to see sights outside Benidorm. I would love to see more videos like this. ❤x
Fantastic video Lucy. You must be so fit with all those steps you have climbed. I would be on my knees by now. Really nice to see you outside of Benidorm for something different.
A'reyt Lucy. I enjoyed this as I never got up there. My pals from Relleu could not have done the stairs. I commented before that you might look at the festival in Relleu in about a month from now as it is sort of out of season for stuff in Benidorm. The meat barbecued over almond roots at the end of the festival was something the Xmas market could learn from.
@LucyYoungTBE It was meant for residents, not tourists, so you might need to have someone in the village as a contact? That is if it is on again this year. I did check last year, but it is a good while since I went and the world went a bit mad while you were reminding us to stay safe. It is so good to see people enjoying themselves again.
Thanks for the video Lucy. It was lovely to see La Nucia. We rented a house there for a couple of years between selling our house in Venta Lanuza (El Campello) and moving to Valencia.
Enjoyed seeing a different side of benidorm, Yes we would love to see more of what the benidorm area as to offer, hopefully you and the camera man have good knees.
Thanks for the lovely views and all that sunshine yay Cheers Lucy have a great new year all the way from Scotland,by the way I hope your camera person is ok after all those steps lol….
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful extra viewpoint of the Alicante countryside, it's simply breath-taking isn't it. We have been visiting since 2011, Tom and I love doing the Downhill Bike Ride and All-Day Jeep Safari, these take you to a Safari (zoo) up in the hills, Algar Waterfalls, Altea, A'lbir and of course Guadalest. We stood on the damn and I did some footage of this, the water level was much higher then and the colour has something to do with either algae or particles within the rocks. Can't wait until June 2025!!
Great video thanks. We just spent Christmas in Benidorm, few days in the old town then a few in the new part but would love to revisit the area and see surrounding villages so yes please more videos like this!
Some ideas for you: How about videoing the theme parks, so that people can decide whether they are suitable for them to visit? I don't have children, and so I've never been to any of the theme parks, as I don't know if they would be worth it or not, so a video around them would be really helpful. There's a few private gardens in the area that people can visit, which only cost a few euros to enter. You can take a picnic and spend hours walking around them and siting and enjoying the tranquility that they offer. I'd like to find out more about the natural swimming areas and where there are waterfalls to see (not the Algar falls) and how to get to them, and areas of natural beauty, that are free to visit. Maybe visit more of the towns and villages, and do a walking video around them to show how pretty they are, the views, and what's there. You could do some videos of the CV roads that head up into the hills, as they have some fantastic scenery to see, especially when all the almond trees are in flower. Not forgetting the route to Guadalest from Altea along the CV755, which is very winding but has spectacular, breath-taking views and also has the stop-off point at the Vintage Vehicle Museum, but more importantly, there is the lovely shop next to it which is well worth seeing. It sells all sorts of things, including pottery, wicker goods, salts, oils, nespero jam, liqueurs etc. There's also the Marina Greenwich (Puerto Deportivo Campomanes) which is on the same meridian line that runs through Greenwich in London (0 degrees longitude), hence it's name! And the rocks around there (Mascarat area) look quite interesting, and you can go snorkelling and paddleboarding around there. The walk around Canon Del Mascarat looks interesting, too, but I've never known how to get to the starting point, or where to park, so I've never been. If you could show how to get to there, that would be good. Lots of video ideas for you there! Oh. and yes, I'd be interested to see a video of you going through that tunnel that runs under La Nucia. I didn't know about that! Btw, the CV760 road that runs fro Altea to La Nucia is a lovely run, with amazing views of the mountain ranges in front of you and the Serra de Bernia to the right. It also takes you to the ground level of the Font de la Favara, where the cafe is, without having to walk down that sloping pathway from the top road (the CV715), which you did in your video. This might be a better option for people with mobility issues who don't want to walk far or get out of breath walking back up those sloping paths! There's parking there, too. I hope these ideas give you some inspiration!
@@LucyYoungTBE Maybe you could also do some videos of trips on the tram, to show people where else they can get to for a day away from Benidorm. I know there is a lot of interest on some of the group pages about getting out and about on the tram, but people don't know where it is or where they can go to.
@starrocker433 Another great idea. Its something we've almost done before, we did a video showing where the tram station is and intended to follow up with where to tram goes. But when we got on the tram there were signs up saying no video recording 😂 We have smaller camera now for the more subtle filming so we could probably get away with that 👍
We visit the park in La Nucia on a regular basis, the old town is just along from there as well, its a nice place to sit and the views to Calpe are good. You drove past the road to our village (Chirles) after leaving Polop, next time pop in for a coffee.. Guadalest is a great place and is one of the most visited places in our area. Its a shame that people only go to Benidorm and never leave to see what an amazing place we live in.. The water level is at a dangerous level and it would take a month of constant rain to fill it, doubt thats going to happen anytime soon though.. Another good video keep up the good work.
Lovely video again Lucy, thanks for this, you've convinced me to give Guadalest a miss, I couldn't cope with those steps, Phew ! I had this thought that you could do a series of 'Grand Days Out' on the Tram in either direction, just a thought. Take care.
Brilliant video lucy love guadalest been twice sceenery is stunning i love the dollshouse museum could not make it up all the stairs to the castle you are very fit lucy to be able to get up there xx
Do rivers serve that reservoir? There is a major issue in Spain with an EU agenda which meant that the Spanish have removed 100+ dams over the last few years from the rivers ,which is going to cause major problems with regards to storing water.
HNY Lucy. You have the presentational skills to go further than JUST Benidorm town. And a good camera person with you too, so yes please....Keep doing videos of both city related/based stuff AND outside the city. How can anyone able bodied visit Benidorm for a fortnight and not go and visit Guadalest??? If they haven't already visited it???
Hi Lucy. Crazy to think that the Moors (the North African muslims) held that beautiful village (as well as much of Spain) for 600 years, until the Catholics won it back, with the help of the Crusaders and a couple of Earthquakes. 600 years though?... My oh my, hope history isn't repeating.
Last went to Guadalest about 30+ years ago, when it was just a tiny village with the castle and cemetery. Most of the walk with all those steps weren't there then, just the climb to the castle and cemetery. Now too commercialised, we wouldn't bother going there now, it's lost a lost of it's character.
You need lots more rain but in the right areas - recent events have illustrated how destructive just loads of rain falling from the sky is not beneficial and can be downright destructive Imagine doing that climb in armour carrying a heave sword of bow and arrows?
Cracking video as per Lucy..... can you do me a favour tho, go back and count how many steps there were?... any more than 200 and I'll start breathing like the camera man....haha x
Hi Lucy, I’m a Goldcar fan, despite their reputation, always take out full insurance. Due to arrive in Spain Thursday for 17days. £365 with Goldcar. Followed your link, have a car with Thrifty with full insurance £165 🫡 thank you Lucy and DiscoverCars!

fabulous 😊
i like this driving around the area there
That looks a really lovely area, and good on you for hiking all the way up so we could see the view. Massive respect also to all the builders and workman back in the day who had to climb up to get all those buildings built.
Great video, expertly done great looking place
Been to Guadalest a couple of times. The views are amazing.

Nice professional video, would love to see more out of Benidorm for those of us that are not so keen on the bars and entertainment.
Definitely keen to see more content like this Lucy, well done on a fantastic video. I’m planning on being a regular to Spain especially the Alicante region so this is definitely ticking my boxes ❤
Great vlog, enjoyed a different view of the region ❤

Loved this, the castle was magical, glad I didn't have to climb it though. I would love to see more of these out of the way places.
You need a medal Lucy for making it up to the castle we only managed first part amazing views though ❤
Brilliant video this area looks stunning nice to see a different side and not too far away ❤
Love to see inside the tunnel Lucy

Hi Lucy brilliant video as usual would be good to have some ideas for dog walking around Benidorm also
Always wanted to see Guadalest, now I have, but YOU did the legwork, it would have killed me. Thanks Lucy.

Sending condolences 🙏

Most of Spain was not hold by the moors for 600 years. Only the south. In fact, Madrid was taken by the Christians in 1.085 aprox.
I'm not surprised there is a cemetery near the top that climb would have killed me.
😂😂😂
Last went to Guadalest about 30+ years ago, when it was just a tiny village with the castle and cemetery. Lovely spot to chill out. Yes but. Fine going down but I think I’d need oxygen going up.
I wonder what are they going to do with the water 🧐
Hi Lucy, you should try my cousin Marcellos cocktail bar in Murcia called El Alquimista Cocktail Lounge apparently it's amazing xxx
Thanks for the recommendation 😁
You need lots more rain but in the right areas - recent events have illustrated how destructive just loads of rain falling from the sky is not beneficial and can be downright destructive

Just a few more steps 😂

Hahaha 😂
Great video, but you missed a heck of a lot out!
We couldn't possibly cover everything one entire area has to offer in one video. It could be 10 hours long! Plenty of future content ideas though 👍😁
thats more like it no way i would visit benidorm its like blackpool in the sun only good part is the old town
No thanks
Just read al your previous comments on this channel, bit of a theme of being a ****
