wish I had known about these earlier. I use those WVC-1200's and have had problems with them failing over time. I like these because they have the cooling vents.
I love this thing. Currently using 9 of them for my fence made out of solar panels. For roof pv I went with a string inverter as shading aint a big thing there.
Great to see more competition. Always better for the consumer. The DTU has a 3 year warranty. Envoy and combiner box are 5 year warranty. I find it interesting that MI's tout 25 year warranty and customers talk about that. But, they do not mention the 5 year warranty on the other components.
Perfect timing, Im planning out my 2nd array and I was just discussing with a coworker how disappointing it is that enphase output really hasnt improved much
@@JustinsProject Im trying to find out if these need a Combiner box. Their version of the Envoy seems to just communicate with wirelwss communication and the unit just lives in the house ( from what I can see so far). Being able to eliminate the expesive combiner box / envoy would be nice. Im seriously considering this for my next system
They have a new combiner box that it comes in. Or you can buy one separately also. Check out some of my newer videos to see a complete system from Hoymiles.
Enphase biggest IQ8H's max production at 384 watts. Hoymiles rating is right 479 watts production per panel. For everyone looking at 450-550 watt panels, your max production will come from Hoymiles. IQ8's provide that sunpower backup, though, so that is nice. I would like to see both manufacturers offering an off-grid solution. Where grid tie was not required on microinverters. Then things would get very interesting. I'm not convinced it's the lack of technology more than red tape politics. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Hi, I like your videos. I have a quick question, is it possible to limit the power feeding into the grid in these micro inverters. I heard power limiting options are available
I am not aware of this function. I am curious why someone would want to limit the back feeding output to the grid though? Especially on a net metering agreement.
In some areas it would be good to control the percent of inverter output. Some areas don’t have net metering and if you produce more than you use the meter counts the excess to the grid as your consumption and you wind up getting charged for your excess power. If you can limit inverter out put using the app on a schedule that would help control and minimize any excess power sent to the grid on your dime.
One difference that I found is that the C version on the HMS quad microinverters holds the UL 1741 cert, and there is no mention of that on the version without the c. I know the C version is approved for use in the United States because of that UL listing. Hopefully, that helps you out. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
Great videos, Justin! I’ve been watching the heck out of your channel. But the thing I can’t figure out is how to get an account to start up either Enphase or Hoymiles micro inverters. Both require an installer app, but don’t explain how to get an account to use it. I download the app and I can’t get past the sign in page. Could you help me understand the process to get an account please?
I signed up as an installer even though I was installing my own system. Technically, I am an installer if I am installing it LOL! Both Hoymiles and Enphase have installer apps that are separate from their homeowners app.
@@JustinsProject Thanks. I was able to call Aptos yesterday and set up an installer account over the phone. I wanted to set up an account so I could check out the installer app and make sure I could start these up without a problem before I spent thousands of dollars on whichever brand of micro inverters I go with in the end.
