No sir, thank you for for sharing!! I have seen may and by far you are my biggest inspiration on knife making. Thank you for the content you give. The quality you put out is amazing and it’s awesome to know a forge is not really necessary!!
Thank you for watching. I try to give the best possible detail and descrition I can. I gets tricky as i have to work with a camera standing between me and the knife I am making. Happy you enjoy the content!
Zeeman Knives, your hands are stars already! When do we see your face and get to hear your voice? A word of explaining will make it even more entertaining, watching your graceful artisanship. 😅
Thank you for the kind words! I am a little camera shy to be honest...but I will work on your suggestions in my upcoming productions. The viewers feedback is important to make my content better for everyone. Keep well.
Beautiful knife, beautiful craftsmanship you are truly a master blade smith. Also enjoyed your beautiful music, wow that’s a lot of beautiful’s. It kind of goes without saying your photography and content is outstanding!
Lovely knife, really well proportioned, great video to watch! My only critique would be that you should've masked off the wood when polishing the brass. Right now you can see that the pores of the olivewood have filled up with black gunk near the guard. Which is a shame because wild olive is such a subtle (and imho very underrated) wood!
stunning work. this wild olive should be used more often in handle making. it looks very sturdy ... could you plz make a damascus puukko with olive wood handle?
You could if you wanted to...depends on your requirements. Few things to consider...firstly, the tang is quite thin towards the back, so you would have to drill extremely accurate to drill trough the tang. Secondly, the tang should be long enough to balance the pins evenly on the handle...but that means you'll have the change the shape of the handle to a straighter handle to accommodate the longer tang. Thanks for watching
Greetings from Aotearoa, New Zealand, this is a very good video mate, maybe the subtitles were a bit small and hard to read and, didnt last long enough to read, make em big n bold brother, thats the info we lookin for. All in all tho good, haven't really tried a hidden tang yet but I'm gonna now! Keep the vids rollin bro...
Thank you for watching. Glad you found it useful! I had a look at your channel...you do some really nice work as well. Happy knife making. Regards from South Africa
Hello Mike, thank you for watching. You will see in my later videos I moved over to voice over comments instead of typing it out. The drill bits i useis a brand called Ruwag, I think it is a local South African product, but it is the Industrial version in drillbit range. I know Alpen is also a popular choice.
I can’t say enough how useful this video is for me as someone that wants to get into making knives. Beautiful piece by the way! What kind of belt grinder are you using?
Thank you for the comment. Always good to hear that the videos are helpful. My machine is built by a local manufacturer (Trinity Forge Tools) here in South Africa. It uses 2x72 belts.
Hello Tom, thank you for watching. The wood is Wild Olive, but this block was not stabilised...although stabilised wood definitely does offer its advantages. The compound I use on the buffing wheel is a standard buffing compound I buy at my local hardware store...in this case it was a buffing compound made for brass.
It's known as a "French Curve". You get different sizes. Most stationary and art suppliers should have it. I bought a whole set with a bunch of different curves and sizes from my local stationary shop.
Love the knife, also a knife maker from South Africa, I knew it when I saw tge brand of your temper oven haha. Random question, do you use methods seen in Red Beard Ops's videos?
Hello Jonathan. Thank you for watching! Whereabouts are you based? Haha, yes the "tempering oven"...is probably a standard issue item with most South African families who enjoy camping in a caravan. To answer your question: In some of his vids we use very similar methods yes...biggest difference would probably be me finishing my bevels on a bevel jig instead of my grinder. I just get much more accurate results with my hand files...but if you are proficient enough with a belt grinder to match everything up perfectly then nothing stops you. If I can give credit to knife makers who influenced me on RUclips it would be: Slavik Tely Walter Sorrels Gough Custom Thank you guys!
@@zeemanknives I thought the methods looked familiar, especially the round file, plunge line. I'm based in Witbank, Mpumalanga, haven't really met a lot of knife makers this side
Thank you, sorry you did not like the music. No, I used 5160 High Carbon for the blade. All my video projects I start with 5160 since it's a prototype...after that, I use whichever steel the clients wants. I prefer Bohler N690 as a Stainless Steel, much better than 440
That was awesome thankyou for sharing.
It’s already been said, but it’s worth repeating, beautiful!

Wandeful!
Thank you!
Nice work! Would probably look even sicker with a false edge at the upper half of the spine
Thank you for watching. Yes, I usually do false edges, but because of the full bevel grind I decided against it.
stunning work. this wild olive should be used more often in handle making. it looks very sturdy ... could you plz make a damascus puukko with olive wood handle?
Thank you...Wild olive is a beautiful wood, but only use it when it is stabilised , as it is known to move and shift if not stabilised.
And I will put your request for a Damascus Puuko in the to-do list. Keep well!
Beautiful knife!! nicest I've seen. I would have added a 2nd rivet at the tang, but maybe that's overkill
You could if you wanted to...depends on your requirements. That is a G10 liner i used.
