    Vayeshev - “And He Dwelt”
    Genesis 37:1 - 40:23
Jacob settles in Hebron with his twelve sons. Joseph, the first-born to Jacob’s beloved wife Rachel and favoured son, is given a special garment by his father as an expression of love. Joseph has a divine dream and tells his older brothers that he is destined to rule over them, which only increases their ire towards him.
After Joseph delivers a report of his brothers’ misconduct to their father, Simeon and Levi plot to kill Joseph, but Reuben suggests that they instead throw him into a pit, intending to come back later and save him. A band of merchants pass by and Judah decides to sell Joseph to them for profit. Unaware of Joseph’s fate, Reuben returns to discover that he is no longer in the pit. To cover their guilt, the brothers dip Joseph’s coat in the blood of a goat, showing it to their father and leading him to believe Joseph was devoured by a wild beast. Joseph is taken to Egypt and sold to Potiphar, an official of Pharaoh.
Some time after, there is much strife in the house of Judah (who has moved away from his family), resulting death of his two eldest sons, having been judged by God as wicked. Judah sends Tamar, their widow, away until his youngest son has reached an appropriate age for marriage, but he neglects to fulfil this obligation. Later, when grieving for his wife, he hires the services of a woman who he believes to be a prostitute, not realising that it is in fact Tamar in disguise. Pregnant and accused of harlotry, Tamar is confronted by Judah, but presents evidence that he is the father, humbling him into repentance. She later gives birth to twins.
In Egypt,God blesses Joseph in all he does in his work and is soon made overseer of all his master’s property. However, Potiphar’s wife desires Joseph and seeks to seduce him and when he rejects her attempts, she accuses him of trying to seduce her. Joseph is then arrested and thrown into prison, but because God is with him, even in the dungeon he prospers greatly.

Shabbat Shalom from Los Angeles! It took me almost 3 hours to get through this message. I had to keep pausing/reflecting b/c its sooo rich with the word and the Holy Spirit was ministering to my soul. God bless you and your ministry for what you do. I am currently the only believer in my household who observes the shabbat and so I really look forward to every week spending time in the word with likeminded followers of Yeshua.

Thank you for message so beautiful I found myself weeping and rejoice ing and weeping again! Sabbath sat is new to me and in my humiliation I fight with it as I want what I want (it’s so much easier when I surrender to the Word.)
I found in your message; I am one that fights the light ,
yet I want the light - I guess Jesus (yeshua) knows the heart because he reached me heart again this shabot sat. Convicted and weeping to the rejoicing for not giving up . Humiliated and humbled as I should remain forever lol peace shalom as you say! And thank you for your time presenting this message today. Perfect timing for me ( I’m sure my husband would agree;)

Is this same Joseph the one married to Mary because there are no two people in same name

    • @josephdavis8017
      @josephdavis8017 Месяц назад +2

There are 3 different men named Joseph in the bible:
      (1) Joseph is a son of Jacob in Genesis 37
      (2) Then there is Joseph the step father of Jesus, and this Joseph married Mary in Matthew 1:18-25
      (3) Then there is Joseph of Arimathea, who bought the new tomb for Jesus in Matthew 27:57
      Enjoy 🙏

I feel like old testament stories are a shadow of New Testament.. you can see the parallels so so often.
Anyways- I feel like the young man in the linen who runs away at Jesus crucifixion is possibly a parallel to Joseph running away from Potiphar’s wife and leaving his robe that she grabbed.
Do you have any thoughts on this?

I believe it was an ministering angel delivering the pure, holy burial linen for Yeshuah to be laid in tomb with.
