    Pigs = Business Man/Politicians
Dogs = Enforcers/Bosses in a company tryin to move up while pushing others down
Sheep = the working class following blindly
Animal Farm is the inspiration source for this album.

The album "Animals" is based on George Orwell's political fable, Animal Farm, where various castes of society are represented through different animals: dogs as lawmen, pigs as ruthless rulers, and sheep as pawns mindless. While the novel focuses on communism, the album is a direct critique of consumer society, is one of my favorites albums ❤️

In Roger Waters' take the dogs are the ruthless businessmen, pigs are the political/ruling class, and sheep are the passive victims of both.

Pink Floyd didn't write songs, they wrote albums. If you truly want to experience them and grab meaning behind individual songs it's a good idea to listen to them in order. Great reaction kid, love this song.

You took a big step toward me being a subscriber doing this song and talking about the goose bumps, especially during the 4 part guitar harmony that comes around twice ("the stop, and then it goes high" part), that is as good as Beethoven. Hands down.

Nick Mason is such an underrated Drummer. Like Gilmour, like all of them in fact, their playing style is not super complex. But is just right. And the production of these albums lets you hear each of them so perfectly.
This has always been my favorite song on this album. I know others appreciate Pigs and Sheep more but I need me some Gilmour and this song hits all the right notes for me

Thank you for reacting to this awesome Floyd track. Following the success of Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd debuted three new songs during their 1974 tour, making up the first set. These were "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "You Gotta Be Crazy" and Raving and Drooling". Pink Floyd would tour with new material as they preferred to refine their songs live in concert. Shine On You Crazy Diamond was split in two and bookended their next album, Wish You Were Here (1975). The other two tracks were not considered polished enough at the time. In 1977, Roger came up with the Animals concept for their next album. You have many comments on here about this. Roger changed the lyrics and You Gotta Be Crazy became Dogs, and Raving and Drooling became Sheep. Now to the GREAT NEWS! A search on RUclips will get you many live bootleg recordings of these songs from 1974. They are well worth a listen to hear the evolution of these three tracks. Even better, there are many live bootlegs of many of Floyd's 1977 'In The Flesh" tour., which featured the Animals and Wish You Were Here albums, plus encores of Money and Us and Them. The best of these, in my option, is Pink Floyd Live at Oakland Coliseum in May 1977. This contains the most awesome version of Pigs (Three Different Ones), with the final guitar solo that is just unreal. It also contains the final ever live performance of their early classic, "Careful with that Axe, Eugene. As a deep dive, listen to the Montreal concert (1977) which included the infamous Roger Waters spitting incident. Roger had grown frustrated by a tour besieged by technical difficulties and loud crowds more interesting in setting off fireworks than listening to the music. In frustration, he calls a fan to the stage only to spit in their face. This incident inspired Roger to build a wall between the band and the audience, leading to the 1979 The Wall album. There is a wealth of live concert bootlegs of the band across all of their career, and Floyd was always at their best live in concert.

This album is inspired by the book Animal Farm. Dogs represents the corrupt businessmen and their back stabbing ways and how they eventually die and realize it wasn’t worth it (“Just another sad old man all alone and dying of cancer”) (“Dragged Down by the Stone”) are lyrics that represent this. Pigs is about the corrupt politicians who try to make themselves out as something they are not. Sheep is about the innocent bystanders, some of the sheep eventually rise up against the dogs and defeat them, however the new sheep in power turn out to become just as power hungry and corrupt as the dogs were which happens a lot in society honestly. Pigs on the Wing Pts 1 and 2 are a tribute to Rogers wife and how she helps him to avoid getting caught up in all the corruptness that exists

When they toured for this album, they had Whitey Ford with them to play the second lead guitar and he also played the acoustic guitar while Roger played the bass.

You are going to have so much fun listening to the next song "Pigs/3 Different Ones'. Doctor Gilmour plays Bass guitar and Lead Electric on it. Roger plays rhythm guitar on it. Listen carefully for David using a "voicebox" to make the "pig grunting" noises 1/2 way thru. He truly IS the Doctor on the guitar. Ummm....David doesn't "shred" on the guitar. He bends the heck out of those strings and the only thing he shreds is your soul. Enjoy Pigs, my man.
I almost forgot....the band lets David off of his leash towards the end. Strap in.

Dogs is supposed to end when David sings “Drag down by the stone”, you can find the alternative version in which they are separated. They connected the second part together with the synth in the final version and I gotta say, what a bold move but I fuckin dig it. It adds a mysterious feeling to it and it’s cool to imagine the scene. I imagine it when I listen to this part that the “dog” is running away from its crime on a dark night.

Fun story about the cover. That's not photoshop....its a real inflatable pig in the sky over Battersea Power Station. During the photography, it broke free & floated away but they got it back. The pig is apparently called Archie. When The Simpsons movie opened in London, in homage to PF and for publicity, they flew a 'Spiderpig' over the station. The album is loosely based on George Orwell's classic novel Animal Farm which is a satire on the Russian revolution. To us Brits (and probably most of the world!!), Battersea Power Station is a rock icon now.

However, everybody has their own taste and PF's range of work in terms of style/sophistication is extremely vast.
For example, the song Money can be characterized as quite commercially friendly and most people would love it, but there are other songs that are not quite as much appealing to the broad public and can be even considered esoteric in terms of musicianship.
If you want an example of such song, check out "Pompeii - Set the Controls for The Heart of The Sun."

Animals has been my favorite Pink Floyd album for decades. Lots of fun watching your reaction. I remember always wondering exactly what DG meant by the Stone in these lyrics. I realize now he must referencing the Greek myth of Sisyphus, whose punishment in Hades was to roll a boulder (or stone) up a hill everyday only to watch it roll back down the hill. He certainly would eventually be dragged down by the Stone, so to speak.

The last 2 vocal parts is Waters: “Gotta admit that I’m a little bit confused…”.

I keep on saying this - and it may be obvious to you - but the end lyrics to Dogs are statements, not questions: And you believe at heart everyone's a killer...who was born in a house full of pain..etc.

Probably you noticed that the first half is sung by David Gilmour and the last by Roger Waters.

Going to make a recommendation. Since you loved both War Pigs and Dogs, the Black Sabbath song Children of the Grave will blow your mind. It’s not a horror themed song, don’t let the name fool you. It’s about the need to protest against war and injustice- but the music is absolutely a killer mix of prog and metal

The smokestacks you see in the photo were brought to life. They rose from the center of the arena which became the Animals album cover.

They called the album «Animals» because of George Orwell's book «Animal Farm». But while the original was a portion of typical trotskyist slander against the USSR, Pink Floyd chose to criticize capitalism and reactionism in general (the part about Mary Whitehouse in «Pigs»). Since they're kinda socialdemocratic, the critique isn't all that good, but the art is fantastic.

What's funny is to count the number of times you say (oh my God),
24 times in total, so 1 time every 42.5 seconds.

You do a fine job on your videos but I’d like to suggest that you turned down your mic some. It’s a bit too loud. Your voice comes across over powering. But keep up the good work.

No love for Pigs on The Wing pt1? Lol. That and part 2 are beautiful bookends to such a deep album.
You're starting to be able to pick out Roger's voice from Dave's, good. Roger's is the rougher, often more nasally vocals. Gilmour is more soft and airy but can also get gritty when needed.
