I loved what Byron said I wasn't alive back then lmao im 33 been watching nascar since 1992 I wasn't alive then either Byron hell I been playing video games longer that that grown man 😂
The racing event of the summer. Call it the "Bill France Jr. Cup". A four week fight thru ages. Race 1 - Gen 3 Race 2 - Gen 4 Race 3 - Gen 5 Race 4 - Gen 6 Think that would be fun.
Would love to see more of these! Maybe get the drivers to react to their own Cup Series wins. Would be pretty cool to hear the drivers give their perspective of how they win their races.
Watch “winners weekend” it’s like a 7 minute video each week of the winner and they basically walk you through the day on the ups and downs that they had that night
Larson is just a straight up fan of racing. He's ready to jump in those cars and race! Also, I wish you guys had Bowman on here more. Some of the things he says and the way he says them crack me up.
Watching Larson and Elliott seem genuinely excited and intrigued by these cars says a lot about their appreciation for the history of the sport. Bowman not knowing Richmond drove the 25 car for Rick boggles my mind. The car is literally sitting in their museum
I believe KL thinks and would like to drive/race any kind of car. He still has the little kid glimmer of pure enjoyment watching races. It's awesome to see that kind of enjoyment from a guy who has accomplished so much in racing.
I had the pleasure of being at 2 races at Riverside in the early 80's. It was an AWESOME track. A fast track with that long back straight. We used to camp in the infield right where the S's were. Ah the good old days😉
I would love to see a vintage nascar series with restored cars from the era, but with modern safety equipment. To make it even better, go back to the old rule book and see which crew chiefs could be the most creative.
I still have vivid and fond memories of Riverside International Raceway as a young man what a awesome track it was , to bad it was sold to a land developer and the demise of another historic California Track gone for good.
Need a "nascar classic racing series"....make the cars older like these, take away a lot of the perfect engineering and have them on some smaller tracks.
@@ncinteriorsplus3520 oh yeah. I agree about local tracks. In terms of the old old cars. In my area they a class that's for cars older than 58 iirc. Old steering and front suspension. I like the idea but it just seems like 1 car is so much faster than the other. Not really competitive. Some are beautiful cars and they definitely try to avoid tearing them up. Usually a bunch of older guys. Its still cool though
Yeah it might make nascar somewhat watchable again.lol because it sucks ass today. They wouldn't know how to handle thos old monte Carlos. Larson would probably figure it out. But the rest of em suck ass. Along with no testosterone or personality
Cool to see their reactions. Kind of surprised that they don’t really seem to know much about some of the sports history. Watching old races can be so valuable.
I went to many races at riverside when I lived in riverside, went to the last race there- was heart breaking, still have a t-stirt that said the last lap, never wore it
Shouldn't be too difficult to get a fab shop to whip up a front and rear clip to the current cars, but set up like the 80's cup cars. A De Dion rear suspension should give that live axle feel without having to alter the cage for an engine mounted transmission.
I would to see an exhibition type race with current drivers and cars from the middleish 80's to middleish 90's... Modern safety in these older cars... Race would sell out for sure!
If Tim had only lived. The cars were ready for a title run. Tim did so much with so little from the car. He would have been a multiple champion had he not gotten AIDS. I’ll never forget his family. They were so close. Tim was simply the best. What little time he had, he made a huge impact. I remember him winning and inviting everyone to his lake house 😂😂😂
I grew up south of Riverside, that place was the bomb! Didn’t need grandstand tickets, you could watch from your car along the esses, then drive across the bridge and watch the straightaway, or turn #6 or #7 or 7a. It was usually hot and dry, and sunny, and dusty. Watched NASCAR, Indy Car, IMSA, SCCA, NHRA, TransAm (when they ran real converted pony cars), F5000. When they destroyed that place they moved the turn #6 grandstand to Bakersfield at Mesa Marin Speedway
I would love to see them get about 30 of these cars out and put these drivers than them and let them run a race just to see how much fun they could have doing it
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned one of the main reasons for the cars sliding around, if not THE main reason: Cup cars ran bias ply tires until switching to radials in 1991. The first Cup race I went to since childhood in the 1960s was North Wilkesboro in September 1991. Won by Dale Earnhardt after Handsome Harry Gant led most of the way before losing his brakes in the last handful of laps. We sat down low in the chicken bone section right at the start/finish line, so we could look left and seen them in a full 4 wheel drift coming off of 4 and then see the tail end kick out as they dove into 1. Those heavy cars on 12" wide bias ply tires slid all over the place.
Back then road course set up was soft for weight transfer and for turns by the number of rights vs lefts. Which ever there's the most of that's the way you set your camber and stagger.
I worked there in those days It was a great raceway I miss it terribly The Mall they put in its place is awful !! All drivers loved it cause it was so different !!
Good times. I was a big Tim fan back then. Nascar lost a future hall of fame driver in Tim. these were bias ply tire days also I believe and those things moved all over the track hanging the ass out into the wind. . Tracks have came a long, long way since those days.
I will say on the game NASCAR Legends you can race Riverside with a 1970 roster. You can just hook up a PS4 controller, install nGlide, and run the game easily on Windows 10. Would love to see them give that a go. Probably a mod for it on NR2003, too.
They are right. The springs do nothing but let u change the tires in the pits. On track the cars ride on the shock limiter with 0 suspension movement at all. The cars have 0 suspension there solid on track like a go cart. Basically throw away the springs and shocks and ride on rubber blocks. Watch them on track the cars bounce on the tires and there is no movement of the suspension.
back in the days....Junior Johnson Racing....Woods bros Racing...Blue Max Racing...Robert Yates Racing...Elliott/Melling Racing...Petty Enterprises...and still Roger Penske racing,Hendrix Motor Sports and Richard Childress Racing
Ya know......there's a guy in NC who has a whole bunch of these 80s Cup cars. I ol DW can hook it up! That would be a race I'd pay to see. These young guys in 80s Cup cars!
Chase...Tim Richmond was too good!...he was outta control and young...it cost him...remember they didn't have peel off sheet front windows, just one pane and it had to be cleaned or the glare would be outrageous...
The car's were identifiable with production car's! I stopped watching 👀 nascar when everyone got the same car! There was a series that did that. It was called the I.R.O.C. series. The car's were built to the same standards, and the team's had minimal adjustability to the car! ...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
Never mind that Tim won…..He was probably HIV positive there and still wheeled that car around and won the dang thing (a feat he would also do when he came back at Pocono) These kids today got no idea
I like what Chase said “we need to get the drivers in these old style cars and see who does good, would be a challenge”
Kyle would whoop dat ass cant be much different to today's late models hell even some sprint car handling thrown in probably
Race 1 - Gen 3
Race 2 - Gen 4
Race 3 - Gen 5
Race 4 - Gen 6
Think that would be fun.
Hendrick has the collection of cars to make that happen!
Use suspension from those cars.
Kyle Larson gushing over the old cars and old track is so great to hear. It's not just the fans that really enjoy the older eras of NASCAR
It's probably why he loves dirt racing racing so much.
Alex and Kyle reacting to Chicago 2019 would be fun
Or watch the race and post race and they tell you all about it
“We all need to run these cars and see who does good.” I 100% agree Chase.
"Is the 25 a Hendrick car?" Says the guy who's literally ran a Tim Richmond throwback scheme.
My thoughts exactly
lol hendrick has always had the 25, they may not always run it but when it does run its hendrick.
When I seen that....Tim Richmond over any of these guys including Larson.
I believe KL thinks and would like to drive/race any kind of car. He still has the little kid glimmer of pure enjoyment watching races. It's awesome to see that kind of enjoyment from a guy who has accomplished so much in racing.

I was at that race! Tim Richmond came to the turn 6 grandstands before the race to take pics with the fans..
This is AWESOME WE NEED MORE OF THESE!!
This needs to be an ongoing production. More of the drivers watching the past generation’s races. Great rain delay content!!!
Went to that race, as well as the IMSA series before they closed the track. Thnx for the video!🏁
I would love to see a vintage nascar series with restored cars from the era, but with modern safety equipment. To make it even better, go back to the old rule book and see which crew chiefs could be the most creative.
When the Hendrick Boys are jaw dropping over this race. We got some genuine race fans. Chase eager to get in the driving seat of them old school cars.
I still have vivid and fond memories of Riverside International Raceway as a young man what a awesome track it was , to bad it was sold to a land developer and the demise of another historic California Track gone for good.
Are there anymore videos like this? If not Id love to see more of the young guys reacting to old races like this. Great video : )
I want to see the current drivers do full commentaries on old races. Would be fascinating to see their perspectives.
Need a "nascar classic racing series"....make the cars older like these, take away a lot of the perfect engineering and have them on some smaller tracks.
Late model racing at your home track. My favorite is the Ford flat top division. Those are race cars to me. The old moon shiner cars...
@@ncinteriorsplus3520 oh yeah. I agree about local tracks.

This is GOOD STUFF!!...keep these videos coming!!
More of these please! LOL this was great to watch!
“so jeff’s like REALLY old” Kyle Larson 2022
Amazing video Hendricks motorsports I hope y'all make it to victory lane this weekend
Hendrick Motorsports is the definition or victory lane
I was there at those old Riverside races! Those esses were so fast!
Cool to see their reactions. Kind of surprised that they don’t really seem to know much about some of the sports history. Watching old races can be so valuable.
That was super awesome thanks for sharing it ❗️❤️💯
Back in the day when NASCAR was great !
i would love to see a Legend Throwback where we bring an old cup car back for just 1 race. Imagine the attention that race would get.
RIP Tim Richmond
Tim Richmond was a badass .
I went to many races at riverside when I lived in riverside, went to the last race there- was heart breaking, still have a t-stirt that said the last lap, never wore it
More of this kind of content please.

“So Jeff’s like, really old” 😂
Gosh Kyle and Chase are true racers! The way way they admires the good ol days is admirable! I’m a fan
Yes I would like to see that race as well. Make it happen !
I have stored away all the races from that era on VHS along with 2 new VHS machines. And when I retire,,,,,,
That would be my dream a Cup race with these cars or the ones from the 70's. Much better than current cars.
I would to see an exhibition type race with current drivers and cars from the middleish 80's to middleish 90's... Modern safety in these older cars... Race would sell out for sure!
Tim Richmond could drive a racecar...
I'd love to see these "stock cars" back on the track!
And get dodge back in the mix!..smh...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠

Larson wants to get out there and race one now.
Back then road course set up was soft for weight transfer and for turns by the number of rights vs lefts. Which ever there's the most of that's the way you set your camber and stagger.
Would love to see the drivers react to before the 90's pit road speed videos.
Y'all gotta go back to the 2005 era nascar stock cars. the racing was so much fun to watch and That package was moist 🤤
This was cool!
I worked there in those days It was a great raceway I miss it terribly The Mall they put in its place is awful !! All drivers loved it cause it was so different !!
Yup...70s and 80s...big ol cars sliding around, wheelin it!!!
I love these guys!
Do you guys sell the t shirts all the drivers where wearing in this video? I cant find them on Hendricks website.
Kinda disappointed they didn't seem to know who The Hendrick drivers were from back then.... Except for Chase which is almost expected
If Tim Richmond didn’t get sick & unfortunately pass away he more than likely would won a Championship.
Good times. I was a big Tim fan back then. Nascar lost a future hall of fame driver in Tim.

Riverside is now a mall. A mall has been built over it i should say. Its cool seeing the location in person almoat every week though :)
They are right. The springs do nothing but let u change the tires in the pits. On track the cars ride on the shock limiter with 0 suspension movement at all. The cars have 0 suspension there solid on track like a go cart. Basically throw away the springs and shocks and ride on rubber blocks. The racer in Kyle Larson just shows
Riverside Raceway, long gone but not forgotten. It's now all developed and replaced. The same fate as Ontario Motor Speedway.
Those were the good old days.
back in the days....Junior Johnson Racing....Woods bros Racing...Blue Max Racing...Robert Yates Racing...Elliott/Melling Racing...Petty Enterprises...and still Roger Penske racing,Hendrix Motor Sports and Richard Childress Racing
Back when nascar was good. None of these kids today could hold a candle to these guys.
More of this!
Rick should build four cars like that from the 80s and have a match race...I'd pay to sew that
LMAO! This is when it was golden! Love this!
That was back with Dale and Geoff had their feud going on
I need more..more.. MORE!!
Nascar back then was so much better ,
Ya know......there's a guy in NC who has a whole bunch of these 80s Cup cars. I ol DW can hook it up! That would be a race I'd pay to see. These young guys in 80s Cup cars!
I remember Nascar....is it still on TV?
Next video: “Hendrick drivers try Sonoma in 87 Monte Carlos on IRacing.
That would be very neat!
Kyle Larson , damn that looks like fun to drive LOL
Do 1987 riverside next!!
Needed to show the Dale Sr and Geoff battle, i the Earnhardts pass in the grass….or dirt
Need to bring back Riverside!!!
It’s a mall now. 😢
Mr H the man!
Chase’s comment about racing the old cars. All star race idea, come on Nascar can’t be any worse then this years.
Okay but you guys need to pull some of the old cars out of storage and see which driver runs the fastest lap
Chase...Tim Richmond was too good!...he was outta control and young...it cost him...remember they didn't have peel off sheet front windows, just one pane and it had to be cleaned or the glare would be outrageous...
1:16 -1:28 Well, back then they weren't recruiting and training college athletes to join the pit crews, and it shows.
Back when NASCAR was good.
1:59 ... Kyle Larson ... What a savage to his boss 🤣🤣
It's a travesty that Riverside no longer exists.
You should do Bodine winning the ‘86 Daytona 500
A true retro race... Put these kids in vintage race cars like this and cut them loose 🤔
RIP Riverside
I mean, I'm sure they know, but do a video like this, but pre-restrictor plate superspeedway with no speed limit pit roads.
When NASCAR was. NASCAR
5 Levi Garrett...Geoff Bodine and 25 Folgers Tim Richmond...rite?
Wasn't Riverside one of Terry Labonte's best tracks?
Do the 2001 Nashville race
Never mind that Tim won…..He was probably HIV positive there and still wheeled that car around and won the dang thing (a feat he would also do when he came back at Pocono) These kids today got no idea
Willie B looks so much like his mom 😆...you know it's old footage when you see Chris Economaki...
“The 25’s a Hendrick car?” 🤦🏼♂️
Bring back these tire compounds and you would see better slip and slide racing. Todays tires are too good.
I just learned a new adjective..."boggy."
