I did so love visiting the islands. Guess I'm not visiting the islands until this war has waged itself. Seems no corner of the world escapes its grasp. Not even the most exotic corners. At the risk of sounding like a traitor, maybe when this is all over I'll visit Japan. If the world can put this nightmare behind us.
All this talk of islands reminds of Gaugin and his exploits in Tahiti. And this war also brings to mind his timeless existentialism: Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? After all of my exploits, I still have no idea about any of that, but I'll happily join you in Japan once the dust of war settles!
