I am a month behind you, but this is my 3rd set in 22 years. I have a thought about the “heaviness” of your locs. I noticed the same thing during my first two journeys. This time around, I decided to not use products, except for a hot oil treatment every 2 weeks. I wash once a week. My hair is past my shoulders and…..shockingly lightweight. I am convinced it is because of the absence of products and the weekly shampooing. Worth a try! 💖

Thank you for sharing your experience! I think this could be a thing due to products I used in the beginning and I also think it’s likely because I’m not use to hair not shedding since a it locking so it feels heavier. Looking forward to a experimenting to see if I can remove any buildup I can’t see

I stopped using oils all together. My scalp wasn’t having it. I’ve only used rose water for the last 3 months and my locs are fluffy, hydrated, and flourishing and even better no scalp issues anymore!

Hmmm definitely something for me to think about and no oil may help with face breakouts as well. I may try for a week or so and see how my hair responds
