Just saw this on Turner Classic Movies. It doesn't look bad, but having seen GWTW restored to Eastmancolor and Technicolor I wonder if it could not be even better restored. (TCM seems to make special efforts to present restored films, so this might well be as good as it gets). Original Technicolor like this short restores really well as the original negatives are black and white triplets, and are thus not subject to colour dye fade (although they do have differential shrinkage, especially the cyan record, but I would guess that's easily managed using modern digital techniques. Shooting this footage from a small boat on a Technicolor 3 strip camera must have been a nightmare. The camera was massive, mag changes were difficult (you changed 3 rolls at the same time) and the system was quite insensitive - not great for low light like pretty dusk shots. Lovely to see Lunenburg in 1947 though. So much of it looks familiar today. Pity they didn't include some footage of Halifax back then - it would be almost unrecognizable from the way it looks today. Thanks for uploading this great old short!
Hey you know someone that could do better job that be great. It all about history and what a good job this guy did on the video he caught the true spirit of Nova Scotia at that time. I have collect all this guy work he was a great filmmaker

Great film, as a native Nova Scotian it is a pleasure to see our history so nicely recorded!
