I’m really looking forward to seeing these bowls coming out of the kiln! And thank you for the introduction to the tools. I received a set of four for Christmas! Super excited to give them a try.
Hi! I love the chattering videos! I was thinking...while using the tool during time stamp 16:22, I was wondering if perhaps the maker of the tools could notch out a couple of "v's" on the side of the blade it could possibly break up the length of the chattering it leaves and give it a different effect. 🤔 Just a thought... what do you think?
Hi Vaughan, those defining lines really help the chattering to, should I say be defined? Leaving the chattered area raw is so nice and without the glaze it is not losing any of the texture. 41 DAYS and we will be heading to Wolfeboro, NH to take up our new residence in the cooler climate. You and Jackie stay warm and well. Cheers...Freddie
Moving in winter, you will need a sleigh. We are having an ice storm today, time to pre cook some soup or chili. You will get the four seasons again, starting with the tough one. I think we will be seeing lots of snowy pictures from you soon, all the better taken wearing a big thick Parka. It does not last long, winter or the novelty of it. The pictures still look lovely, unless you were shovelling snow in it. Looking forward to your first road trip.
Thank you Vaughn. This is such a great video. And I love your transparent glazes that show off the chattering. Are they commercial glazes? Are they your own recipes? Would you share more info? Thank you!
Vaughan, first let me thank you for sharing your talent with those of us who are learning, you do an amazing job and I love watching your videos!! It looks like you are cutting a lot away, so how thick do you normally make your bowls that you are going to put heavy texture on?
Hi Vaughan I use bmix the chattering looks great on leather hard but at bone dry it’s lost it’s fine definition. Still love how it works tho. Thanks Mary

May be some in the video tonight.
Beautiful 3 rd one
All of them are nice. I bought 3 when you sampled them last time?
Love it!
Vaughn…you should put some nice celadon glazes on some of these bowls! Looks like you’re having lots of fun with your new tools 😊
I will be trying some in the spring using white clay and reduction firing.
Love love love

Good idea, I am sure Bill reads all these comments to get feed back from you all.

They are still pretty thin, I throw a 12 inch wide bowl from 2 3/4lb of clay.

Thin the glaze a little. Make sure you are using transparent glazes with a little stain or colourants.
