Yep as a petite I'm still drawn to oversized pieces & mens shirts/jackets. To make it work I get things slightly tailored & mish-mash them with a piece that's more fitted. Whenever people say my outfits really cool, they are usually referring to the oversized/menswear pieces - it's become my signature look 💖👍 great tips as always Karen, was in hysterics at the speech/rant - yep we totally get it & love it! 💗💃🙌
5:31 Is it really an achievement for a piece of clothing to last only 3 years? I have clothes my mum bought for herself in the 80s that still look great. Why do we now consider something "good quality" if it only lasts 2-3 years? It’s absolutely insane.
@MrSincerity88 I see your point, but I believe the issue lies with our expectations as consumers. If more people prioritized quality and cared about the environmental impact of their purchases, producers would have no choice but to adjust. The market ultimately follows demand. As long as people continue to buy cheaply made, short-lived products, companies will keep producing them. Change starts with what we as consumers are accepting. I have a lot of pieces that I bought 15 or 10 years ago and they are still fine
FALL MISTAKES WE MAKE- 1. Wear shoes that’s unexpected 2. Tailor your clothes 3. Don’t wear cheap looking clothes (poor material) 4. Turtlenecks are great options for your base 5. Leaving the thread on the back of your coats (take the X off)😂 6. Stream your knits & don’t hang your sweaters) 7. Socks and tights (neutral-toned) 8. Cropped trousers should be right above your ankle bone 9. Wrong length coats (if wearing a long dress the should meet the length of dress) 10. If you are short you can wear maxi length or oversized clothes 11. Wearing things out of season (90% of your outfit is in the right season) 12. Not wearing colors & only wearing neutrals 13. Go to the men’s section ladies 😂 for coats and blazers
Omg, I LOVE the men’s section! I used to steal my brother’s shirts, jackets, and jeans. When I can’t find what I want, I always find treasures in menswear! I asked the same question the other day, why don’t women have inside pockets? WHO decided this?!! 😂😂
Karen, I hang my jumpers. I cannot stand the mess of folded jumpers, forever having to fold them, they are fine on hangers. I like everything on hangers with a small gap between. I do put coats and jackets on a wider hanger to protect the shoulders. ❤
Although I am a folder myself, (mostly due to space and that kashmir need to be protected in boxes at my place) a wool or kashmir can actually be hung without any damage, as they are so light. It's the more heavy fabrics that will stretch and at risk getting misshaped.
There are some sweaters that I do hang up, but I have those satin padded hangers. I feel like they're hard to find nowadays, but whenever I find decent ones at the thrift store or in an antique mall, I always buy them. I remember back in the day some people made their own--it's an easy little craft if you have basic sewing skills. The sweaters that I don't hang are big and bulky. Their weight would stretch out the shoulders if I put them on a hanger. And of course in spring and summer all sweaters are stored in a box.
Karen I live for your videos!! Loved every minute of this video. I live in Florida now and miss fall dressing…I’ve started wearing my trenches as dresses and pulling out my booties regardless of the temperatures. It’s fall and I’m going to wear at least some fall goodies!
Can relate 100 % I also now live in a hot climate - actually miss wearing warm clothes so much that I sometimes put the air conditioning on so I can sit in a cosy knit 😂
Just removed 5 sweaters from hangers! I had to put in a box. I’m out of storage space. 😂😂😂 My favorite fall accessory has been socks. Especially red, with jeans, and loafers. Cheap fun. ❤️Picked up a gorgeous corduroy men’s blazer for $7. on Poshmark. Even came with matching vest. I’m obsessed!
I learned a better way to hang sweaters. Fold in half putting the sleeves together. Then wrap it around the neck of the hanger almost like a shawl. Everything hangs flat without sagging!
I hang my knit waistcoats but not cardigans and sweaters - I have no idea why I do this!!😂 love your passion and enthusiasm thanks for creating this space 🧡
I love you, you give good advice! I am a curvy woman, so I won't buy anything from Lilly Silk. They don't have my size, but your style advice is very good info.
You are so welcome! glad you love my running my mouth lol!! I hope they add more sizing so you can try their things. I have an oversize sweater from them (not shown) that definitely fits someone larger but hopefully they add more
@GwendolynSolanke I'm a curvey woman and have the same issue with Lilysilk. Now I order from Quince. Their quality is great and the prices are amazing!
it's a no to the turtleneck for me. i inherited a short, thick neck from my grandma. i've tried turtlenecks, but they never look right. i also don't like the sensation of them, so it's a "style mistake" i'm more than willing to commit 😆
I fold sweaters, hang shirts and blouses, I don’t hang anything with a stretch,,,,,didn’t know about the x at the back of the coat, I’m guilty of walking around with that on my coat, I’m actually gunna go check all coats after video,,,,,,love these videos , you give me soooooooo much motivation,,,,,thanks
Wait, "wait for fall"? Over here snow is coming🥶Fall is long gone and the only thing on yr mind is staying comfy and warm. Fashionlevel is quite low this time of the year for me, but always enjoy yr vlogs.🌸
I don't agree on the length of the coat with skirts/dresses, I never wear a coat that is longer than skirt/dress but that's just my preference, but everything else 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And you're right about men's blazers/coats they are so much better made than women's and the inner pockets are such a useful detail 🙌
I’m highly allergic to whool..! My skin just can’t..!!! So it’s cashmere, or Alpaga..! Love Lilly Silk as well, never itchy..! It’s a budget, but those pieces last sooo long.! That’s what important..! BTW I get the sequin CHANEL VINTAGE bag, from the shop on Elizabeth street..! I was over the Moon..! Thank u Karen for giving your tip off.! Happy WE to u guys ! 🥰🇫🇷🇺🇸🇬🇧
I work on a college campus and yesterday was actually rather chilly. I saw a girl whose outfit had me shaking my head. She was wearing an extremely short white eyelet dress with white sandals--long bare legs. It made me shiver just to look at her. And then so she wouldn't freeze she was wearing a black hoodie zipped up with about three inches of that mini skirt peeking out the bottom. I just wanted to ask her why she was dressed like it was the 4th of July...?
LOL, people wear Uggs year round. They were originally created for surfers to stick their feet in as soon as they got out of the water--no socks and on the beach. But I see what you're saying.
I learned a better way to hang sweaters. Fold in half putting the sleeves together. Then wrap it around the neck of the hanger almost like a shawl. Everything hangs flat without sagging!
A lot of us are allergic to wool . I really wish companies would make better alternative sweaters too . There’s a huge market for it. x

Well yes. It is. You answered your own question. Your mom’s clothing comes from a time that’s long gone. Not sure why that’s hard to understand.

I hang knitwear. - of course on padded hangers. Only quite lightweight knitwear so that it doesn't stretch

KB yelled at me 😭 (running into my walk-in and taking all my jumpers off the hangers and using my shelves I hardly use 😅) 🙏🏿😊 Great style tip
I still hang some off my sweaters. I hang them on that hanger thing you just showed. 😂😂

I agree, the sizes are very limiting

That blue skirt goes all the way up to a size 16 and they have XL tops

Old person here. I remember wearing men’s button downs and sweaters back in the 70’s because no women’s tops fit my very long arms!
I found sweater hangers on Amazon a few years back and never turned back. A space saver I swear by!

So good !!!
I need a steamer recommendation people !
Red on you (sweater) with Red lipstick is just the bee's knees. You look GREAT in color. Yes we love gray + black. BUT...you just light up with color.
Great vlog 👍👍
glad you like!
I have my sweaters hanging but now I’m gonna go take them off and fold them 😳

"Take the X off!" . . . unless you're doing a streetwear look, then add more X's 😉
this whole video feels like ONE BIG AD for Lilysilk
Is this a lilysilk ad?
a section is yes as mentioned in partnering with them.
I am a petit woman, even COS clothes are too big for me...I cannot go to the men's section.
unpopular opinion. noone actually knows how to style tall women. short women are easier to style.
I learned a better way to hang sweaters. Fold in half putting the sleeves together. Then wrap it around the neck of the hanger almost like a shawl. Everything hangs flat without sagging!
