Frankie, what is your opinion now, 1 year later? If you see the prices on TaoBao the biggest advantage of Max 3 is not to big now. Max 3 6/128 you can find for 1300 approximately, but Note 10 6/128 too you can find for 1600, 1700, 1800. When I decided to buy a new phone one month ago, I said I will buy Max 3. But now, I'm not sure. I watched your videos and I'm so confused. About battery, 100% brightness Note (1,5 hour more) , 50% Max (just 20 minutes more). I will not use IR, but maybe I'll use NFC. There are no 3,5 jack, but you get a small adapter in the box, so I think it is not a big problem. Design is the same when you put in protect case. I saw another videos, you can install Google very easy, so it is not a problem too. Could you help me to choose? 😀
@Frankie Tech - I ordered the Mi Max 3 last week, it should arrive in a year or so in Romania (joking, in about 30 days, but still). Bought the 6/128GB version with Global for $339. Hi from the UK Frankie. I saw this fone for the first time a couple of weks ago. I was in a cafe and its owner was using it. I thought that it was one of the new samsung tablets and was amazed. But before I rush off to buy one can you advise of this. If I want to transfer everything off my current phone, Huawei Mate 10 pro, can I put this phone next to mine and transfer everything across? Did your honor Note 10 come pre-installed with Google Play Already? I've heard with their other devices you've had to do this whole thing to get the play store installed. But from your video it seem like it was already installed. So is that the case?
My Honor Note 10 did not because it was the China ROM version (although fairly easy to add them on), but my new Mate 20x Global version does. That’s why I always will stress if you want to ensure Google is pre installed on the phone, get the Global versión instead.

I was so dissapointed when I figgured SD card can't be open because it's has - NTFS not FAT3... :( so FAT32 means I cant copy fille bigger than what...4 gb? Is situation is still same?

Thank you Frankie. You actually converted me to the mm3. Having watched a few comparisons I had some issues about the the supposed 'lesser' build quality and unknown update support of a Chinese company (Xiaomi) that I hadn't heard of before, as well as a supposed lower quality screen. Only here did I find out that the mm3 actually has an okay screen (and indeed sharper), great support, and is very rugged, which is what I was actually looking for as a phone dropper. Along with half the price point and amazing battery life, I'm happy to say that I will be making a slightly better purchase :) I know the Honor comes with pre-installed glass screen protection. Does the mm3 aswell?
Great I’m glad to hear my videos helped! The Mi Max 3 offer great value for the price and I don’t think you’ll find a better phone of this size at that 250-300 USD price point. I think Xiaomi is big enough a company now (number 4 in the world) that they need to build things in an efficient and reliable manner, so I wouldn’t be too concerned. Hope you enjoy your mm3!
Not from a regular distance, but if you are looking closer than 12 inches you might notice a little pixelation. Nothing too obvious but the phone is less sharp than the LCD on Mi Max 3.

I always use glass screen protectors amd my Mate 10 has curves on the edges that make them impossible to fit. Are these both totally flat on the viewing area?
These don’t have 3D glass like the Mate 10, but do have 2.5 D glass so protectors may lift a tad on the edges. You can now get glass protectors that cover the whole front face of the phone. Those are the ones I’ve been getting installed recently on Mi Max 3. Also another point of note, the Honor Note 10 comes with a plastic protector preinstalled, which is why I’ve never bough a protector for it

The shutter on the Honor Note 10 is quite a bit faster I feel. I highlighted this in my video, and that's clearly the Kirin 970 at work, which will outperform the S636 in most cases.
Hi Frankie, love your style of reviewing, it's more "human" than some reviews that are like "script", I've liked and subbed, I'm looking at both the Max 3 and Note 10, I'm also considering the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 too but screen size comes first, I have the Mi Max 2, it's a good phone but camera doesn't impress so I'm edging towards the Note 10. Whichever I decide, I'll now wait until end of Dec, early January to see what deals are about (obviously buying sim free), price in UK for Note 10 is around £350 which I think is a real bargain considering what you get for your £££, also I've found updates are slow for my Max 2, I still haven't been able to download MIUI 10 as they've halted it for "bug issues" hence I'm now more for Honour. Slightly early, but wishing you a great Christmas and thank you for the great review 👍
Frankie one question. If we are talking only about camera and pictures quality. Does the note 10 makes better photos enough to make it worth the extra money?
I would say that the difference in the day is not worth the extra price, but the difference at night is. If you value better low light shooting then totally go for it! But for general use Mi Max 3 still did very nicely in my previous reviews (check out my Singapore video vs Mi A2, had awesome results!)
I'm taking pictures of children mainly on a day. We sleep on night :) I bought mi max 3 6/128 gb thanks your review. :) I had note 8 but I want something with huge battery and screen. I hope that there will be no much difference in taking pictures of the day.

I'm loving your channel, so glad I found it. Question, did you know that you can connect a USB C 3.1 to HDMI cable between the phone and a monitor to get a desktop experience like Dex for Samsung's Note 8 & 9? I would love to see a more in depth look at that! No one seems to have mentioned that except for Nick Tech (tech/Nickbrazer) but he just glanced over it. Would love to hear your take on it! Whichever phone you choose, could you kindly let us know what network you are using and which country? I am interested in both phones and utilize Metro PCS service. I currently have the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and live in the U.S. At the time of my purchase of the Mix 2, I had Boost Mobile, but their computers refused to recognize this phone even though it is one of the phones with the most bandwidths. Thank god Metro PCS accepted the IMEI of the Mix 2, otherwise it would have been a total waste of time and resources. Thank you in advance.

I think if you can afford it the Honor Note 10 will offer a great camera experience for the price. But for the price the Mi Max 3 is no slouch as well!
Is there any display issue relating to colour...some guys r telling pixels r not perfectly black what it ought to be in an amoled screen...Samsung...who is the master in producing best amoled screen in the market supplied the displays to Honor..How is the overall quality of the display of note 10...just throw some light on it..
The Mi Max 3 is great value, but I purchased the Honor Note 10. It's classy, awesome specs, and even has a desktop mode when connected via HDMI cable. The screen and speakers won me over.

@@VernalScott thanks I got the Mi Max 3 and it does get updates I'm on Android 10. It's just that amoled screen on the Note 10. Yes the Asus has SD865+ but I prefer the Black Shark 3 Pro because it has 7 inch screen :)

Wondering and maybe you can address it in your FAQ vid, I see that you used the mi store app to install google services on the mi max 3, but looking at the honor screens as you slide through, i dont see the same google installer on the screen. Like you videos so far so do keep it up :) I do have one important question that I would like to ask you and hope that you can provide the answer. Does the Twin App function on the Honor note 10 support applications like Whatsapp? i have the honor note 8 and as it's the Asian build it only supports WeChat and on other application but no Whatsapp, Snapchat and such. it's running an older version though so i'm hoping that this new one with the new build does support more apps for the Asian build. i had a mi max 2 for awhile loved it ....was my fave phone .until it got damp one day in my bag from rain , then wouldnt work properly ))-; the battery is great & the earphone jack, xioami have great customer service & feedback , firmware updates ( Total opposite is blackview, they suck ) ...hate the dongles . was waiting for the mi max pro that never came , so will likely get the mi max plus 128gb & 6gb ram ... wonder which model frankie tested ..the 4gb or 6gb model mi max 3 ?
I got the 128 GB storage and 6 GB memory version of the Mi Max 3. China set and flashed global rom. Works really well and great for Media and e-books. It's got a beast of a battery.

Frankie, great review, but it still leaves me pretty confused . My main concerns are screen, Camera, Audio and Battery life. So, for screen & Camera, clearly Note 10 wins ( though i would love to see your exhaustive Camera review - i would love to see the night results with little and no light ) . Audio i would say is win for both, as Note 10 doesn't have the normal audio jack ( though i use I pods, so no issue for me ) . For Battery life, Mi Max 3 seems to be a winner, but i am a normal user ( about 2 hours talk time, 30 minutes RUclips and 2 hours of Google browsing, 1 hour of watching video in the SD Card in a day ). So, whats the battery life for a user like me ? Have used MIUI ( had the Original Mi Max, but EMUI is alien for me, so that is another concern for me , though everybody who has used both tells me that MIUI is better - i think this has been partly addressed in your review ) Again, loved your review, continue the good work.
Thanks! Go with the Mi Max if you’re confused. I would be more nervous about you enjoying the software interface of EMUI than anything else. People always worry about the hard Specs, but they never take into account the software experience and how it can affect the overall experience. Go with the Mi Max 3, you will not be disappointed!
I am in India and both these phones have not launched here yet, waiting for them . Would like to check them physically, before i buy . Till they get launched here, pretty satisfied in using my Galaxy Note 8 & Asus Zenfone Ultra 3. As i am still undecided & confused, i might just wait for Mate 20 Pro- it is also supposed to be 6.9 inch screen & triple rear camera with the latest upcoming 980 processor .
Just watched this now and I think you have to update your points for the Mi Max... Battery is better in the Honor. Camera is better in the Honor especially the front. The only advantage for getting the Mi Max is the price. It is a budget phone.
I want the honor for slightly bigger screen, hdr (love watching movies a lot), and gaming (not a lot, just pass time. Got a switch for more heavy gaming. The switch have no GTA :-( and I am a very heavy power user. But I would be getting both, the mi max 3 for my girl, and the honor for me.

To be honest, daily use wise honor note 10 is definitely better. However, my note 10 dropped on the floor and the oled broke. Worse thing is there is no replacement for the screen!
Xiaomi should continue making high-end specs with affordable price. Its still a bit underrated here in Manila but they are now back again with physical stores in some leading Malls. Nice part II review Frankie Tech
I'm on MI Max2 for a year now and I was kinda rushed with my choice because my 2014 Galaxy Note 3 finally died and I needed phone (big phone of course) fast and cheap, and while I'm overall pleased with the experience and I love display size, the display itself has a lot of flaws - not enough brightness on heavy sun, awful viewing angles and overall not the best colors. It's kind of a joke that the biggest reason to get MI Max2 was the size of display, but display itself is subpar. I recently bought my wife Mi9T and I actually envy the quality of amoled and the speed of the phone lol. After some research I'm not sure it's worth switching from MI Max2 to MI Max3 (the cost is pretty much the same as year ago), since it won't actually be an upgrade. While Note 10 on Ali rn is selling for the exact same price (200euro) and I think it should be an actual upgrade in my case. With that price I don't think you can justify MI Max3 over Note 10.
thanks, im going for the mi max cause this is a multimedia device and the lack of head phone jack on the note 10 is unacceptable in my opinion, besides mi max has more battery wich is a priority for me.
Late to the party here ,watching your reviews had me pretty set on a max 3 but have just seen some reports of them putting advertising in their user interface which would be an absolute no for me.any one here that could advise would be appreciated 👍👍👍
As I mentioned in an earlier video, I got the 6GB 128 GB Rom version, so the price was double for me. But for lesser options the price will be more like 1.6x or 1.7x more

hi Frankie, is there a difference in shutter lag between the Honor Note 10 and Mi Max 3? Just wondering,since you took multiple pictures on honor note 10 to show performance. would be good if you could us know from your experience with these two devices!
The shutter on the Honor Note 10 is quite a bit faster I feel. I highlighted this in my video, and that's clearly the Kirin 970 at work, which will outperform the S636 in most cases.
Hi Frankie, love your style of reviewing, it's more "human" than some reviews that are like "script", I've liked and subbed, I'm looking at both the Max 3 and Note 10, I'm also considering the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 too but screen size comes first, I have the Mi Max 2, it's a good phone but camera doesn't impress so I'm edging towards the Note 10. Whichever I decide, I'll now wait until end of Dec, early January to see what deals are about (obviously buying sim free), price in UK for Note 10 is around £350 which I think is a real bargain considering what you get for your £££, also I've found updates are slow for my Max 2, I still haven't been able to download MIUI 10 as they've halted it for "bug issues" hence I'm now more for Honour. Slightly early, but wishing you a great Christmas and thank you for the great review 👍
Frankie one question. If we are talking only about camera and pictures quality. Does the note 10 makes better photos enough to make it worth the extra money?
I would say that the difference in the day is not worth the extra price, but the difference at night is. If you value better low light shooting then totally go for it! But for general use Mi Max 3 still did very nicely in my previous reviews (check out my Singapore video vs Mi A2, had awesome results!)
I'm taking pictures of children mainly on a day. We sleep on night :) I bought mi max 3 6/128 gb thanks your review. :) I had note 8 but I want something with huge battery and screen. I hope that there will be no much difference in taking pictures of the day.

I'm heading towards the mi max 3 as it seems better overall value for money and suits my needs more than enough. But I have one question. I know the screen brightness is only 400+ nits, but is it adequate for day to day usage or do you wish it was brighter...

I'm loving your channel, so glad I found it. Question, did you know that you can connect a USB C 3.1 to HDMI cable between the phone and a monitor to get a desktop experience like Dex for Samsung's Note 8 & 9? I would love to see a more in depth look at that! No one seems to have mentioned that except for Nick Tech (tech/Nickbrazer) but he just glanced over it. Would love to hear your take on it! Whichever phone you choose, could you kindly let us know what network you are using and which country? I am interested in both phones and utilize Metro PCS service. I currently have the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and live in the U.S. At the time of my purchase of the Mix 2, I had Boost Mobile, but their computers refused to recognize this phone even though it is one of the phones with the most bandwidths. Thank god Metro PCS accepted the IMEI of the Mix 2, otherwise it would have been a total waste of time and resources.

Full screen gestures suck when you use a Swype type keyboard. You struggle to use keys on the edges

I think if you can afford it the Honor Note 10 will offer a great camera experience for the price. But for the price the Mi Max 3 is no slouch as well!

Is there any display issue relating to colour...some guys r telling pixels r not perfectly black what it ought to be in an amoled screen...Samsung...who is the master in producing best amoled screen in the market supplied the displays to Honor..How is the overall quality of the display of note 10...just throw some light on it..

Mi Max 3 is a good solution as a car navigation, it is too large to carry it in your pocket :) Xiaomi is a sales hit in Poland.
The Mi Max 3 is great value, but I purchased the Honor Note 10. It's classy, awesome specs, and even has a desktop mode when connected via HDMI cable. The screen and speakers won me over.

Yes the Asus has SD865+ but I prefer the Black Shark 3 Pro because it has 7 inch screen :)
Is the Honor really double the price of Max 3? Official pricing is $250 vs $410.
It might be closer to 1.5 or 1.6, but for the 6 GB 128 version I have it was definitely double

Wondering and maybe you can address it in your FAQ vid, I see that you used the mi store app to install google services on the mi max 3, but looking at the honor screens as you slide through, i dont see the same google installer on the screen. As you are in hong kong, is it a global rom on honor note 10? Or is it a shenzhen pickup? Cheers
Thanks for the awesome overview of both phones..as much as i like huawei but the honor would be to mimax3 for me,price aside the mic for vid recording is somewhat important to me..but i do hope honor note 11 would bring the fight again with kirin 980 and better mic quality for the same price as this one with 128gb for the basemodel nxt yr

I do have one important question that I would like to ask you and hope that you can provide the answer.
Does the Twin App function on the Honor note 10 support applications like Whatsapp? i have the honor note 8 and as it's the Asian build it only supports WeChat and on other application but no Whatsapp, Snapchat and such. it's running an older version though so i'm hoping that this new one with the new build does support more apps for the Asian build.

Frankie need your opinion, i'm still undecided between these 10.i had experience using mi max 1 before was very happy with it but gave up because of bad camera and upgraded to samsung note 8. I want to downgrade to either honor note 10 or mi max 3 because of terrible battery of samsung note 8

i had a mi max 2 for awhile loved it ....was my fave phone .until it got damp one day in my bag from rain , then wouldnt work properly ))-; the battery is great & the earphone jack, xioami have great customer service & feedback , firmware updates ( Total opposite is blackview, they suck ) ...hate the dongles . was waiting for the mi max pro that never came , so will likely get the mi max plus 128gb & 6gb ram ... wonder which model frankie tested ..the 4gb or 6gb model mi max 3 ?
I got the 128 GB storage and 6 GB memory version of the Mi Max 3. China set and flashed global rom. Works really well and great for Media and e-books. It's got a beast of a battery.

Is mi Max 3 have headphone jack?
Frankie, great review, but it still leaves me pretty confused . My main concerns are screen, Camera, Audio and Battery life. So, for screen & Camera, clearly Note 10 wins ( though i would love to see your exhaustive Camera review - i would love to see the night results with little and no light ) . Audio i would say is win for both, as Note 10 doesn't have the normal audio jack ( though i use I pods, so no issue for me ) . For Battery life, Mi Max 3 seems to be a winner, but i am a normal user ( about 2 hours talk time, 30 minutes RUclips and 2 hours of Google browsing, 1 hour of watching video in the SD Card in a day ). So, whats the battery life for a user like me ? Have used MIUI ( had the Original Mi Max, but EMUI is alien for me, so that is another concern for me , though everybody who has used both tells me that MIUI is better - i think this has been partly addressed in your review )

Thanks! Go with the Mi Max if you’re confused. I would be more nervous about you enjoying the software interface of EMUI than anything else. People always worry about the hard Specs, but they never take into account the software experience and how it can affect the overall experience. Go with the Mi Max 3, you will not be disappointed!
I am in India and both these phones have not launched here yet, waiting for them . Would like to check them physically, before i buy . Till they get launched here, pretty satisfied in using my Galaxy Note 8 & Asus Zenfone Ultra 3.
As i am still undecided & confused, i might just wait for Mate 20 Pro- it is also supposed to be 6.9 inch screen & triple rear camera with the latest upcoming 980 processor .
Just watched this now and I think you have to update your points for the Mi Max... Battery is better in the Honor. Camera is better in the Honor especially the front. The only advantage for getting the Mi Max is the price. It is a budget phone.
I want the honor for slightly bigger screen, hdr (love watching movies a lot), and gaming (not a lot, just pass time. Got a switch for more heavy gaming. The switch have no GTA :-( and I am a very heavy power user. But I would be getting both, the mi max 3 for my girl, and the honor for me.

To be honest, daily use wise honor note 10 is definitely better.
However, my note 10 dropped on the floor and the oled broke. Worse thing is there is no replacement for the screen!

I'm on MI Max2 for a year now and I was kinda rushed with my choice because my 2014 Galaxy Note 3 finally died and I needed phone (big phone of course) fast and cheap, and while I'm overall pleased with the experience and I love display size, the display itself has a lot of flaws - not enough brightness on heavy sun, awful viewing angles and overall not the best colors. It's kind of a joke that the biggest reason to get MI Max2 was the size of display, but display itself is subpar. I recently bought my wife Mi9T and I actually envy the quality of amoled and the speed of the phone lol.
After some research I'm not sure it's worth switching from MI Max2 to MI Max3 (the cost is pretty much the same as year ago), since it won't actually be an upgrade. While Note 10 on Ali rn is selling for the exact same price (200euro) and I think it should be an actual upgrade in my case. With that price I don't think you can justify MI Max3 over Note 10.

thanks, im going for the mi max cause this is a multimedia device and the lack of head phone jack on the note 10 is unacceptable in my opinion, besides mi max has more battery wich is a priority for me.

As I mentioned in an earlier video, I got the 6GB 128 GB Rom version, so the price was double for me. But for lesser options the price will be more like 1.6x or 1.7x more
