    ive been testing this out from this morning and i got to say that this is EPIC , i literally used one of my old stylized character model , put it through this and it becomes a mixture of stylized and realism

      What's the performance like on your system specs? It kinda chugged a bit for me in the early release, so I'm hoping it's improved.

      @@Elwaves2925 rtx 2060 , 1 tb nvme ssd , 16 gb ram , ryzen 7 , the entire process in unreal took me about 5-10 minutes to do everything. i think you should ask the unreal slackers discord , some of them running on intel hd graphics and somehow got it to work , sorry i couldn't be of help that much 😥

      I did the same thing. It had a problem with the eyes as they were bigger than a standard character. Other than that it was fine

    This update makes it one step closer to Character Creator 4.
    I hope Epic also add tools to create clothes and armor for MetaHumans.

      I bet it's coming. Epic granted Daz 3d Studio 1 million usd. They have the biggest market for hq characters and clothing, they are over 20 years old and still going strong. I hope they make it easier to bring cloths, morphs, and other assests. I have a huge library I want to use easily.

      @@chadcrypto2675 You can use any Daz3D character and export FBX and import into Unreal Engine 5 and create a Metahuman from it. Facegen Artist Pro, which cost $139, can turn a picture of anybody, into a 3D character utilizing a base Genesis 8 or 8.1 character and turn into a Metahuman.

      @@chadcrypto2675 My only hope is that Daz3D clothing can be imported directly into the Metahuman creation software. The clothing options for Metahuman are very limited.

    Hi Mike, When you open Bridge in the Unreal Engine you need to sign into you account (head icon top right hand corner) then My MetaHumans will show up.

    Excellent tutorial, other walkthroughs have been up since the release but I hung on to see Mike's step by step set up because I knew that'd be the clearest.

      I worked from Unreal’s tutorial, using a 3D scan I did with an iPhone app. If I was going to be critical of Mike’s tutorial, it was that he started with a mesh that was already game-ready. The coolest part of this plug-in is how well it does with crappy, noisy, incomplete scan data.

    The reason your metahuman doesnt show up in the bridge plugin in unreal is because ypou need to log in seperately there.

    My issue so far is that IN UE4, I am able to export out bridge assets to maya, and in UE5 that option does not exist yet, and I cant find anything about it in their docs.

    How do you change the skin? It added a skin with freckles (even though I said no freckles), don't see a way to change it, or edit the skin texture

      I found it -- in faces, have to select one of the presets with freckles, not "None". With the preset on, you should see freckles -- turn all the setting down to 0, and they should go away.

    Apparently, you have to login to Bridge again from UE5 Bridge window to get your metahumans.

    When you imported the static mesh, I noticed the eyelashes looked a bit funny. Do you suppose this is what is causing the funky eyes when you open it with MetaHuman?

      I think some will for like goblins or vampires but stuff that's more complex like dragons, wolves or big monsters will be to complex to make auto rigs for.

    Which character models look better to you, Meta Human, Daz 3D or Character Creator 3 well 4 now. And have you done a video on the new CC4 and I clone 8

      I haven't tried yet, but Daz characters have the highest res base mesh, not just all in the normals and displacement. I'm going to guess it will give the best results. I love CC3 abd CC4 characters, but most of the detail is in the normals.

      metahuman is automatically disqualified because you can't make nice looking women bodies imo. They are almost comically flat in all the areas that matter. I can't even understand how they expect to compete with CC3 or Daz on that front. It's the reason I and many other devs wont use metahuman. Can't just make nice bodies and export to marvelous designer for custom clothes etc. Metahuman is so limiting yet could easily already be the standard by making easy changes.

      I like my CC3 characters best, for now, although I have a few Daz ones I want to try to bring directly into Unreal to see if they maintain the higher res mesh. (Going thru CC lowers it).

      @@3dchick I am awful with Daz but I think it’s because I’m impatient sometimes. When I try to create a black character the skin tone is always off and it seems like the camera controls are sensitive.

    I encountered a problem. After importing metahuman with the bridge quixel for ue5 plugin of ue5, the face will be distorted when using the live link face, it seems that half of the face has lost the link. Please any suggestions to solve this problem? thanks

    Sometimes you get logged out from the Bridge plugin, logging back restores your list of metahumans, just like in the external tab. Hope it helps!

    If your metahumans are not showing in the UE5 bridge window, try clicking the sign in icon in the top right corner.

      Epic should implement a unified login. It's frustrating to keep logging in every time you want to use certain features within UE.

    Two things i would wish for is to be able to download the facial expressions and be able to morph facial features and bodies at runtime (full blown in-game character customization).

    You probably can solve the issue with the eyes by selecting the eyes/eyelids under Custom Mesh and then decrease the Region Influence

      How to fix this problem without changing the mesh (because then the shape of the eyes changes - they become narrow? I have the same problem, I do not know how to remove the problem with eyes and eyelashes

      The shape shouldn't change that much if you use the way I've mentioned. Just decrease the region until the overlapping disappears.

    This works fabulously for the very base mesh. It doesn't transfer things like the original wrinkles or scars. Those can be added in something like Maya, but if you don't use Maya or Zbrush, you're SOL. Hopefully they'll add that function soon.

    I had the bridge error to BUT for me it was the fact I had not updated that version of the editor on that machine once I updated and restarted that rig it was fine

    You have to login in Quixel Bridge inside your Unreal Engine so that the character you've created will display.

    I found some limitations to it, such as it not being able to project skin textures from the base mesh to the Metahuman mesh, but it definitely provides a great way to start things off.

      The up side of that is it works really well with noisy, low-quality scan data, since the original mesh and textures are only used for proportions. You could also edit the exported texture maps after creating the MetaHuman.

      @@MarkRiverbank I suppose, I mainly speak from using stuff like Facegen Pro and CC4, which also projects texture data from a image onto the model. It would be amazing if metahuman could do that as well.

    bro, at 11:30 mins, u have to be logged in to see your created metahumans folder. You werent logged in your account at that time of the video, so u didnt see the folder where its saved :)

      Iclone (paid) and Daz Studio (free) come to mind for the most 'realistic' outside of UE but both have potentially high costs if you want the assets for them.

      Not for free. Character Creator is powerful and the Head Shot plugin works really well, but Reallusion are incredibly expensive and have an awful business model.

    0:19 yes one morph for every feature mean asian caucasian or something between. same nose but cant make nose i need lol. still they doing it wrong. if have metahuman cloud app then do it there. not switching between unreal and metahuman or do it first place all in unreal not on cloud, but thing is when service end so is cloud. if it come pay you nee pay

    I was able to get my version of Angy into a level with nothing else in the level and my brand new Intel 12900K water cooled and RTX 3090 wailed for 30 minutes straight while it was loading. In fact, that seems to be my only experience in UE; Loading, rendering shaders forever, and waiting. I have no idea why I am the only one complaining about UE. I seem to just have a jinxed life.

      Yeah, it's usually in Unity where you can't get anything done these days with everything taking forever, the entire editor reloads after every tiny change you make.

      I have a GTX1080, and less RAM than I would like.
      Oddly, I think cutting the number of shader compiler workers actually made things work better. (There's an INI file with a setting to change, can't remember which off hand, sorry.) Before doing that, loading a metahuman would usually crash unreal, after a long slow shader compile.
      And I believe RAM is what we all need more of.

      You're not the only one. But many people (probably new users) seem content with waiting - just like how some Zbrush users are ok with very low framerate when working.

    So I can import random cheap looking free character asset from Unity Store and make it as good as MetaHuman, hmm.... 🤔
    Edit: Also imagine ripping character assets from old games (like CJ from GTA:SA) and giving them a "remade" look this way.
    Edit 2: So, among the many reasons I don't like creating character meshes, one of them is that even if it ends up looking good as a static object, it will be another level of pain to add more details so that the characters don't look janky while animating. That won't be an issue this way, right?
    Edit 3: Anyone tried importing an actual humanoid monstrosity?

      I'm trying it with a dog/humaniod at the moment. Currently making my UE5 project (basically taking the dog head and trying it for fun - see what cursed things I can make).

    This was always possible. Just add a blendshape in Maya. Add additional bones to the head. Export it. Import in unreal with original metahuman rig. Then go to your fbx and copy paste in the dna data from the original metahuman. You're all making such a big deal out of it. It's just another hack.

      Well this process maps all the bones and blendshapes to the proportions of the target head. This makes it very simple, especially for scans or sculpted heads. In half an hour or so I had create 3 metahumans from imported heads meshes when I was testing. I would say the you're method you're describing is more hacky.
