I’ve listened to this version so many times I lost count. I’ve also listened to the original as well as many other covers. I truly believe to sing this song, emotion has got to be larger than technique! While I truly believe Lara Fabian’s technique is flawless, but when I first listened to it I wasn’t paying the slightest attention to her breathing, control, placement, pronunciation, ... but the fact that she told the story so well emotionally she BECAME the story, and I couldn’t help but falling in love without even understanding the lyrics. Same thing for Lucia Dalla, who told the story using his perspective and is extremely touching. I would much rather listen to a singer who sings from their heart and soul that moves people than focusing mainly on technique and pronunciation like the majority of them out there

I really love this version as well as I love Lara.
Not only she has an outstandingly good voice (something many singers have when it comes to technique), but she has this amazing mediterranean sensivity (I know she is Canadian but, come on, you can hear the genes) and passion she puts into her live performances, making you believe every single word, taking the emotion straight to your heart. This is the real talent of a great artist, not only a singer, a real Queen of Chanson. She lit. takes us to church, no matter in what ever language she sings. The limitation of language simply disappears. So amazing. Bless her!

I went to Lara's concert in Bratislava on December 18, 2019. She did not sing Caruso, nevertheless she was absolutely brilliant, her voice performance is unbeatable.
She let the fans choose between Perdere l'amore and Caruso. It was a very close call. I voted for Caruso.

She sings, acts and much more during a performance.
I don't often have the desire to meet many specific persons....but I would die and go to heaven if I could take her to dinner and pick her mind about her work. It fascinates me.

Absolutely stunning rendition. I have always loved this song and often wondered if a female artist could do it justice. I know now, this rendition is packed with the emotion of the song (and maybe some of her own feelings too), which gives the song that extra 'je ne sais quoi', but lifts it into the realm of the special. Beautiful, I love it, and am currently watching it again at least three times a day.
