So glad Cleetus mentioned this channel it’s become my favorite on the whole platform
Same here! Found through cleetus and love these videos now
@@1minuteago758 I've been following them BOTH for years! I remember thinking when Cleetus did the first Carbon Cub video that he should contact Mike, then two minutes in he mentioned Mike! I thought THIS is gonna be EPIC! 😆
same here
@@PhilG999 Mike was in one of Cleets videos over year before He got the Cub.
@@MJTAUTOMOTIVE The Farm truck episode right?
I’ve been in the commercial construction business for 40 years and have built many special and complex projects. I understand your excitement when a plan comes together. You did everything the correct way and should be very proud. There would be several construction publications that would love to do a story on this project when completed.
A word about that heat pipe that probably wont matter for decades to come but who knows. My grandmothers house was built in 1963. Her well fed the house with roll pipe that is polymer and much thicker that that heat pipe you're using. In the last 15 years i have battled with underground leaks. Having to cut it, piece it together in numerous places. One spot though, i learned. With just the simple motion of water starting and stopping, no matter how incased that water was. Would cause enough movement and friction to rub holes in the line. The spot that taught me this was about ten years ago when i dug up a section of the line and i found a brick. A brick from the original construction of the house in 1963. It was placed in the trench to help hold the line in place 50 years ago. Yet water going in and out of that line for 50 years, that brick rubbed a hole through that 1/16th thick polymer line. After my experience. That staircase heating..... ??? I guess itll last long enough.
California's Hearst Castle ain't got nothing on this build. BRAVO ZULU, Mike!
I can’t believe Mike has convinced me to love and be look forward to house content 😂. Came for aviation, and staying for Mike🤷🏽♂️
I could feel your joy when you saw the temporary walls floating under the concrete span. That must've been so satisfying for all your engineering work!
As a Construction Guy who has built Multiple High risers in Miami… You’ve over engineered every aspect of this Build. What an Amazing Build. I’ve never seen anything like it on a Residential Property… Well done🤝
'Over engineered', isn't that Mike's middle name? LOL 😃🤣😋😛
@@GaryMCurran I thought it was "Three-quarter-inch-steel-plate-extra-concrete-and--carbon-fiber-- Mike" lol
I’m an avid aviator and have been in construction for over 30 years, Mike!! Thank you for sharing! Your engineering mind and great enthusiasm for building and creating and your innovative designs inspire us all here in South Africa! Thank you 🙏, now back to work!!
The thing i enjoy about Mike's content is not only does he have awesome builds but he actually explains what things do, how they work, the engineering behind his builds and you cant forget his awesome personality. The man always seems to have a smile on his face and he's positive. He seems like the kind of guy that would literally turn that frown upside down hahaha
This dude is so creative! I really like the way he thinks about functionality and how to get what he wants every step of the way. And I have to say, I love his enthusiasm. He's like a little kid working on his projects. Way to go, Mike!
When your amazing house is finished, it should/must be the top cover of Architectural Design and Engineering Magazines, etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you build your new home. Also, excited and can't wait for more Aircraft builds!
I’m so jealous of Mike. Not his success or wealth but his happiness, energy, intelligence, and obvious passion for life. I don’t have a fraction of it
This home will be one of the most unique homes in the world, and Mike is one of the most unique people in the world. True story.
OMG, don't you just LOVE clever engineers ??? The efficiency of this building will make your grandchildren's children praise you !!! DaVinci had to be reincarnated into 2 souls. You and your brother are amazing. Thank you so much for what you give back and share.
That DaVinci comment is not a bad comparison. Mike does not paint pictures AFAIK, but he is surely as innovative as DaVinci from an engineering point of view.
I'm not sure what cleavers have to do with it, but OK.
@@pseudocoder78 0k word Nazi, better now? lol Damn AI
Any update on wha they’re gonna do about that low bridge?
Mike took all the weight out of the Red Bull airplane and he's making up for it by making his house weigh 6 million pounds, lol. Me and my dad always watch these episodes when the drop, even says "back to work" all the time now.
This place has got to have set a record for the most concrete used in a single residential project in American history! 😁 Every episode amazes me! What an awesome place this will be! Fairly certain it'll be there 10,000 years from now, too! 😆
I need to get some of that closed-cell foam in this 180 year old drafty mess I live in. Would probably pay for itself in heating costs in 2 years flat!
And some future archaeologist will say, "Wow, I wonder what this building was for. It must have been a temple or something reserved for very special rites and ceremonies!" It's that epic.
@@donnaj9964 Ha! I could see that happening! 😁
That's a crazy home build. I love crazy. In fact I love crazy so much that I challenged myself and built a 3 1/2 story geodesic dome home with two domes connected together by a short hallway. I also did all the building with my own hands and with no hired labor at all. Thanks for the great videos that are very inspiring!
Awesome
You could build a starter home or two with the wood removed from bracing!
Amazing build.
Cool to hear the wood is going to be reused. It looks like you put the boards in with that in mind so you only have to worry about pulling fasteners out of the very ends. Brilliant! I'm glad that we live in a country where a person can run wild with some engineering ideas and make all this happen. We need to reinvent our schools so they don't do more harm than good and drum this level of creativity out of our engineering students.
Totally agree!!
Always worth the wait to see what Mike’s genius comes up with next 👏
Get those shares in Aluminum foil manufacturing and recycling (😉) companies folks 👍
Can’t wait to discover new insights in Mike’s next video 🤔
Mike, you got me hooked with the plane builds. However, I never knew I was so interested in concrete construction until now ha! You are the man!!
Is there ever too much when wanting to make your abode safer? I can’t wait to see this house finished. I thought the flooding situation was over or are you behind a few weeks in your posting? The building of this house has certainly kept a few companies busy and that’s definitely good for the community.👍👍🇨🇦
Sweet buddy! ✌️😎
Now that Mike has conquered every aviation record, it's time for the house. I can't be the only one here that would want Mike to design and build MY house.
Just tell him to give you all the wood he’s tearing down, then you can tell all your friends that’s from Patey’s house.
@@tropicthndr I was hiking in Draper and ran into another pilot. We were discussing the runoff issue and I brought up the people living on the Spanish Fork river and he immediately started talking about the great things Mike was doing for his neighbors.
Patey is synonymous with overbuilding and out working everyone else.
This has to be the most intricate pool ever made it makes the playboy mansion look like a toddler made pool fit for Walmart
You must not be very well educated if you truly believe this.
That is an incredible amount of insulation and concrete.....looking forward to seeing 6 new planes debuted right after the house is done....that have been built in the background!!!
props to your editor for that little stair tread animation
Have you seen the best zip ties ever made on earth ? There called Griplock zip ties! For all my jobs there a MUST!!! Hehe just playing had to after seeing them tie's in the rebar. I know there's no need for a Griplock there. Will say this. It's all I will use for now on for my jobs and home. Thanks for making them. Don't know how I lived with out LOL. God Bless brother..
fingers crossed u survived the snow melt....
Loving the house build as much as the Scrappy build :)
I was having Patey withdrawals. Thanks for the update!
this is so cool man, having the money to bring your engineering ideas to life is just so cool to watch
He has the money because of his engineering skills. Stay in school kids.
Mike, I started out studying to be a mechanical engineer, after being in the Navy Nuclear Power Program for 12 years as a reactor operator I ended up as an Instrumentation Engineer. My point is after watching you I am in awe of your abilities.
Incredible!!! Your new home will certainly be published in the latest architecture digest and engineering schools as a precursor of teaching students in building construction fundamentals…. Mega congrats!!
Mike I fell behind @ :45 but I do think I'll be able catch up by 17:00🤔ahhhhh...... your kinda hard to keep up with but we Love all the thought going into your build and It sure looks nice !👍👍.
Can't wait for the next ultra version of Draco. (As cool as the rich US guy house is... The plane stuff is just a different level)
Mike, Congratulations! It appears that everything has gone according to plan! I couldn't be happier for you! Still praying that your home is saved from the flooding!
COOLEST BUILD on RUclips right now!
Damn this house is gonna look amazing. I can't wait til it's finished so I can create a scenery pack for MSFS2020 and include the house and aircraft ;)
What chopper are you going to land on his pool or deck?!
Genius level design elements. I'm blown away by this build.
Incredible home. Praying that the expected floods are minimal.
Mike Patey builds another monument to imagination. Well done, Sir.
Looks amazing Mike! Would love to be your neighbor. Get us up to date on the creek level when you can, hope your neighbors basement is fairing better than before.
My least favorite thing about Mike Patey videos is the end of them. Great work on everything.
I always watch your videos with smile. Love the way your mind works. Thanks for the inspiration.
Mike you are a maestro of building super light and also very heavy projects. We never know what to expect on your next video. Keep it up as you provide some of the best content the internet has to offer.
Excited to see your progress
Finally.... we need more content.
Great job on number 13 ! Ya made my day ! Now, "Take a break" !! Happy Memorial Day !!
Can't wait to see it done!
Mike, ur an animal !!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Another great video - you're moving ahead with the whole project - can't wait to see the finished product.
How has the snow melt affected your property? Been wondering how things have been working with your efforts to protect the home? I was hoping you would update us.
... same.

@@GaryMCurran Thanks good to hear
Awesome news thanks 🙏
@@GaryMCurran thanks for the additional information.
I would love an overall tour of your CAD of this project!
How’s that river looking out back? You never disappoint, so I’ll definitely be waiting to see how far up that river comes. Love your enthusiasm! Thanks for share such an amazing piece of art.
Mike, the engineering that is going into your house is just amazing, and it's the small details hat make the biggest difference.
Okay, so what was Cleetus doing there? Or, at least one of his toys? I don't follow his channel, although I've seen some of the stuff he does. That was interesting to see.
Next question, how have the flooding waters been? I haven't checked the news recently. I sure would like a one minute update on where things stand, how the house and Mark's house are doing, and what's happening with all the people who are living out there by the river.
Mike bought that from Cleetus. He also sourced Cleetus a carbon cub!
@@philtaylor9709 thanks!
@@GaryMCurran You bet, sir!
I really like watching your videos. You probably hear that all the time. Your house engineering is so advanced but then again, a lot of your planes are pretty advanced to. I can’t wait to see what there is in the future that you’re going to build next.
Mr. Patey, your enthusiasm is so refreshing. We need more of your kind in this crazy ol world.
what a sick joint! 🤤
Mike is an engineering and creativity gem….
Another great video. I learn a lot when I watch the videos.
I sincerely gain useful knowledge with every video Mike, but I feel so dumb compared to your brilliant and complex engineering feats. Much Respect and thank you for sharing this awesome content.
You are an amazing and inspiring man 💪💪💪
✈🏗🌍 Mike, your expertise in both aviation and construction is truly admirable! It's fascinating to see your innovative designs and engineering mind at work. 🚀 Your passion for building and creating inspires not only South Africa but also aviation and construction enthusiasts worldwide. 🌟🤩 Thank you for sharing your knowledge and inspiring us to push boundaries in our respective fields. 💪🔧 Now, let's get back to work and continue making remarkable contributions to our industries!
you put more effort into the information and graphics than housebuilding industry does.

@@2K9s well, yeah if you count effort as money. but paying money for effort is not a guarantee, just look at disney..
Loving every single minute of this!
Man, I’ve been on pins and needles because of the flood… Hope the protection measures are fending it off, Mike!
Super job Mike.
Amazing....
What a build thank you for sharing this amazing content, wheter it's a plane or a house you are nailing it !!!
So jealous what an epic house!
The level of detail you go to is mind boggling Mike. I love your videos!!!
Looking awesome!!!
Mike your a amazing Engineer.
Extensively complimentary implementation.
Truly remarkable the level of talent this guy has. My word.
Congrats on everything coming together so nicely.
That’s cool!
What an awesome build! Coming along beautifully!
Looks like the flood waters didn’t make it over the wall👌
The worst is yet to come. Fingers crossed.
Nice work Mike, the posts look great.
Looking great
Yay, thanks for the update Mike! How is the retaining wall next to your river holding up?
was wonder the same over last 2 weeks , worried even.....
... and the answer is????
I think the answer is “Just fine!” or he would have mentioned it. :)
Must admit that like most people I am sure, I am looking forward to seeing that flood (while hoping everyone has completed preparations and will not suffer any damage!)
I asked the question before he said the flood is two weeks away.
There have been no new Spanish Fork river flooding videos posted on RUclips for the last two weeks, so I think it’s safe to assume all is good.
Good morning from Minnesota USA!! I never had any doubt!!😁
Amazing stuff! Glad I happened across this! All caught up and can't wait for the next episode!
Crazy awesome engineering!
Looking great.
Mike, you are one of a kind. Thanks for sharing
Oh hey a ripsaw tank. Don't see many of those around, yet that one looks awfully familiar! First I spy him over at HeavyDSparks now he's here at Mike Patey too!
Mike you are Amazing
Been gone a while since Scrappy and just saw this pop up. Had to click it.
Could have used a Reflector-less total station to take the before and after measurements ! I know you work fast, so it’s probably to late now ! However if you still have supports up you could still detect any settling ! Hope there is no flooding yet !!! 👍
Praying for your family, homes and neighbors.
How many tons of rebar. How many feet of pex what is the R value on the wall. How many boxes of wire for the rebar guns bags of zip ties. My back hurts just typing it.😮
Mate, you're awsome. That's s sincere, heart felt compliment
Nice work. As always. Love all the information you pour over us.
And the music is a nice addition!
I love Mike's theme music and wish I knew what it is!
HI Mike, WOW LOOKS Amazing. How's the river situation? It was great to see your involvement with your community to prevent possibilities in earlier video.
Absolutely amazing, I’m excited to see it when it’s done!
Honest question here, as a builder I’ve used spandeck or similar product many times. Manufacturer say to pour on top unsupported per design. Your explanation makes sense to me but the manufacturer says not to that?
Appreciate the attention to detail and not taking shortcuts.
