it is a nice thing that Railways is Quadrupling the virar dahanu link but they are still going to use the old system of Down-Up -Down-Up. That system seems easy to understand but it is really a nightmare for passengers. existing lines will be very hard to change but this section Virar -Dahanu is still young and there is a lot of chance to make changes for the future. ( right now, there are just 6 stations but plans are to introduce more stations along the route as there is possible growth along the route and the route needs to be made future proof. in my childhood, area around the tracks from Dahisar to Virar was literally barren, apart from around the stations. now the entire route has houses and offices along the tracks right till Virar. soon it will extend beyond too once the 4 track system introduces more local trains). anyways what i was suggesting that the railways implement the Down-Down-UP UP pattern where inner two tracks are for fast trains/ passengers which skip the stations while the outer two tracks are for slow trains which halt at every station. advantages 1. people dont need to climb up and down staircases to change from fast to slow trains at interchange station ( stations like Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali etc are interchange stations where pple alight from fast trains and catch slow trains for their destination). they get down on the platform on one side, and the slow trains are there on the other side of the same platform (this method is used in NY metro where they have 4 lines, two outer slow lines and two inner fast express lines) 2. for pass overs, the train have to move from track2 to track1 or from track3 to track4 3. in case of any issue with any track, the trains just have to switch to adjacent track without affecting the traffic of the other side ie 1-2 and 3-4 can be use interchangably.

My friend lives in Golvad which is near Gujrarat border but there’s no frequency if trains to Mumbai. Hope one day Dahanu trains extend to the border area as well.
Mumbai subarban local trains only runs between Mumbai rail division so dahanu road is last station and golvad has good frequency of trains according to population
