THR all day long! One of the best pieces of gear I've ever invested in. Sounds and feels natural and tracks so well.

Spark 2 should be the one to compare to the thr I guess, I have both and love both , didn't like the spark 40 because of the muddy sound that has been fixed with the spark 2 that includes additional options that are really great : battery, 50w, stereo line out, 8 onboard user presets, two loopers, AI (fun ! And useful) ... the price ! and the app which is unbeatable. I considered the yamaha was the best (still is on clear sounds but the spark is quite close) until the spark 2 arrived and quite frankly I can't go back now ... Until yamaha or someone else will launch a true competitor of that beast, not only as an amp but as a learning tool and a fun jam companion, it is the best (and unique ?) complete tool for practicing and learning the guitar on the market today ...

It’s hard to beat the value of the Spark 2, you’re right about that. The app is great as well! Thanks for watching.

Wishing the Hotone option was in this mix.

I have not played the Hotone yet, what are your thoughts on that amp?

i absolutely loved my thr but felt it was crippled by the lack of outputs. And its why i ended up moving it on. I see the 30 fixes this now, but its hella expensive considering 30w isnt much more useful than 5w.

It's a great practice amp for sure and I think the outputs are really useful if you wanted to play through a PA or even a powered speaker of some kind. The Spark 2 can get you there for $299 and you get 50 watts, pretty sweet if you ask me. What practice amp is the mighty HM2Doom using these days?

@@DrewCreal Absolutely! a device like this can also be a great solution to break away from a PC/screens but still have some functionality if required. Its a crowded market for sure with nearly every taste catered for-i had a mk2 katana for a while that was killer and the wee onboard speaker made it great for practice.
A lot of the time if i want the above scenario-i reach for the trusty roland micro cube. I could quite happily noodle away on that for hours :)

What do you think about the bass output on Spark 40 when streaming music? I own the first version and I feel like there is always a blanket on the amp and the sounds are muffled! I wonder to what extent these problems have been addressed

I think there’s plenty of bass but you’re right, there seems to be a frequency hump in the lower midrange. I think it sounds great for clean guitar. I’m always playing drum genius grooves through mine and it sounds pretty nice to jam to. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I got the new spark 2 and it didn't impress me, I returned it for a refund. I find this amp to be overrated. It's not a bad sound, a little too muddy and for the first time in my life, the distortion of this amp is attacking me. There's something in the grain of the distortion that I don't like even if I change the sound in the app.
And I don't like depending on the apps, for me it's a real game to depend on your cell. The new Boss Katana mini X is the way to go. Less dependent on the apps and having several options directly on the amp. A THR 30III with more options in the way of the Boss mini X would be perfect.
I don't miss the spark 2 and I find its hype very exaggerated. I have more fun with my nux mighty lite bt. I might try the Boss Mini X which I think version 2 in the future might be a blast
