These seem to be very shortened versions of the dvd versions that I love watching. I hope people find them as inspiring As the longer versions. Keep walking
We climbed this today in low cloud rain and wind.(not forecast) Out of our comfort zone.We couldn’t see more than 10m ahead. We did the climb and back down the other ridge. 10miles took 7hours.I would not recommend in low cloud. This video clip makes it look romantic. It is fatal if you fall. The rock is slippy when wet.We couldn’t turn around as we had gone so far we wanted the shorter ridge climb back down,so took it slow.We met other hikers struggling and helped each other. We climbed Ben Nevis 2 days ago in 6 hours.Puts into perspective a slightly technical climb if the weather turns. ✌🏻🌏
Thank you for your comment. The weather in the mountains can change from minute to minute so always be aware. Of course the video can't guarantee the weather, but it is up to each individual to make informed decisions before and during their hike.
Thomas Blunt it just blew in. I stupidly thought we would go up through it. We literally walked from a summers day into hell. You couldn’t plan ahead as you couldn’t see. We couldn’t turn around as the parts we came across we didn’t want to do again. I knew if we got to the summit the other side was shorter decent. It was surprising busy, including youngsters! It didn’t end there, after descending and finally being able to breath, we got lost down in the basin, was just thick fog. Luckily unprepared me asked to read another walkers map and we made it out. We were exhausted. I must admit it was a hell of an experience. When at the end of Striding edge before climbing to the summit my partner whispered to me “I just want to go home” , at that moment I just felt helpless and stupid. I thought what have I done here? How have I got someone in this situation? Learned a lot of lessons that day. ✌🏻
I have just purchased the DVDs..This is not a moan just an heads up for those wishing to buy the DVDs. The quality of the DVD/s is nowhere near the quality of the clip above...I hope these can be released on Bluray (in at least HD 10.80p)..it makes so much difference to see the magic of the lakes in this quality. A wonderful series of programs that Wainwright, I am sure is proud of. Julia's love of the outdoors brings it all together.
@@TBWSport Hi, I believe when you view a clip on a laptop / computer it is different to TV, ie the same as when you watch a phone video on the tv it is going to be not as good. The quality is the same. These were filmed in 2006 so as you know technology has developed. But thank you for purchasing and I hope you enjoy your walks.
Swirral Edge isn't nearly so long as Striding so ascending and descending by the trail that skirts around the north side of the tarn would probably be much easier on your dog.
I've climbed them both -- Snowdon from near Bedgellert via the Watkin Path and Helvellyn from Glenridding. Both enjoyable hikes. Great views from both summits. What detracts from the Snowdon climb is the rail track with the shed right at the top. IMHO it doesn't do much for aesthetics. The summit of Helvellyn is rather flat so you don't get the same dramatic on top of the world feeling that you do with other Lake District peaks.
Definitely a dream of ours to hike this mountain! Fantastic overview
Julia you are totally wonderful, informative and you conjure up romantic images of your subject which just inspires everyone!
Nice clear video showing the route , would like to see a whole program like this for all the hills . Like the Munro show back in the 80's

They are just the route overviews. The full versions are available on DVD. Happy walking!
With the virus and no travel my boots are gathering dust making these essential viewing
Glad you are enjoying them!
The Outdoor Guide with Julia Bradbury If I can’t be out there then this gives a vicarious pleasure
Rosida Andriyana Thank you very much. Too kind.
Walked this today I’m pretty cold and very windy conditions which made it even better reaching the summit! Amazing place!
Glad you had an amazing time Terry!
Did I just see you on Antiques roadshow!? 😊🤗
Cracking insight - makes me want to go. Mark

Well, she didn't walk it there ......... just bloody talked about it🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Hi Max, this is a short clip from Julia's longer programme, to watch the whole walk you can buy the DVD of the series 😊
Thank you very much for your videos, I am just moving to UK from Czechia and looking forward to exploring your nature
Enjoy it!
i,d love to explore julia's nature...
Why?
Is it ok to take a dog up are is it to much
Thanks for watching. Depends on your dogs fitness and the weather. If it's too windy or your dog is not too fit then we would advise not to.
Swirral Edge isn't nearly so long as Striding so ascending and descending by the trail that skirts around the north side of the tarn would probably be much easier on your dog.
Nice video, excellent presentation, but an overrated mountain in my view. Snowdon is much more asthetically pleasing.
Luckily everyone enjoys different mountains!

Julia Bradbury narrates an aeriel video. No walking just talking.
This is just the route overview, you can get the full episode on DVD.
Its really not much of a ridge is it , and a bypass that really makes it easy , so why all the talk about this like its something scary 😅
