We didn’t put hay into it during the incubation, only later on, for a week, when it was changed to be a brooder (we finally used wood chips though). We put the incubator right next to our desk all the time so we can look tend to it whenever needed. So far we think it’s safe and quick and cheap. But if you happen to have other materials (plastic box, etc.), that would be even better for the incubator of course! Thanks again and have a great day!
