So true re the tomatoes in Spain. I remember having simple sliced tomatoes for the first time on a weekend trip to Alicante with my Spanish girlfriend after moving to Barcelona. It was just a typical local bar and I wasn't expecting much but it literally took my breath away. I gasped and was in awe of how good it was. The flavours were just out of this world. And it was just a tomato. It was like I had never had a real one before. I tell that story often. I will never forget that. I just love Spain and its fabulous culture.

Great vid! Subscribed! I lived on Calle Delicias from 2005 to 2011, 2 mins walk from Rossell. Great neighbourhood. I frequented El Rincon Asturiano on Calle Delicias, great cider, bravas, generous free tapas and the Fabada is excellent. Honourable mention too for El Principiado just up the street from Rossell. I haven't been in the old neighbourhood now for a year, can't wait to get back. Madrid is the best city in Europe by far. Thanks!

Also try Granada and Córdoba to have the best free tapas in Spain, you pay a glass and they serve you such an amount that you'll have eaten by the end of the drink. Take a look to: Migas, Cachopo, Pulpo a la Gallega, Cocido Montañés, Cocido Madrileño, Cecina de León, Oreja, Morro, Bravas, Cochinillo Asado of Segovia, Judiones de la Granja, Gazpacho, Salmorejo, Sopa Castellana, Caldereta de Cabrito and Chanfaina of Extremadura, Calsots of Tarragona, Cochifrito, Perdiz en Escabeche, Carcamusas of Toledo, Lomo Ibérico ... James, one of the things I most miss about Spain is the cheap affordable good bar food you can find anywhere. In England the only affordable food is the kfc, MacDonalds, burger king or a cold sandwich at the local supermarket . Sad!

going to madrid september, really struggling with what area for our first visits. we are in benidorm for 7 days with parents then off to madrid for 4 night then onto asturias to our house there.
We are looking to come back to Madrid for our second time next year. This time with two kids 4 and 1. What is a good neighborhood to find a kid friendly safe stay?
Excellent local tour of tapas, James. How many stomachs do you have? That was a lot of food. Generous tapas portions. My best tapas experience was in Granada. Amazing value! Probably because it's a student town. Never discovered local places in Seville like you have in Madrid. Maybe next time.
Tapas is something they serve to keep your from having a sour stomach after drinking sherry and sweet wines ! maybe that is why Spain is the only country that serves beer in small glasses instead of pint and liter mugs! Any Frat House recogniizes Tapas as hangover food , and nothing gives you more of a hangover then a night out drinking Sherries and Sangrias

I feel the same way! Lived in Estepona for 15 years now and appreciation of tomatoes! Eaten in season you need nothing more than a little bread, oil!

Eres lo contrario a Gareth Bale que en 8 años que ha estado en Madrid ha sido incapaz de adaptarse y aprender español aunque tú eres neozelandés y hablas perfectamente español, yo creo que eres Géminis, es mejor ser extrovertido que no introvertido para adaptarse a un país con una lengua y cultura diferente y tener habilidades sociales o facilidad para relacionarse que no al revés y también muy importante tener don de lenguas y si no eres feo mejor, parece ser que has tenido la suerte de nacer con una configuración astrológica afortunada pero no todos los extranjeros tienen tu características y a mucha gente nos cuesta muchísimo.adaptarnos a otros países diferentes a los nuestros, yo sé inglés más o menos aceptable y relacionarme con gente extranjera no es algo que me entusiasme, pero tu has tenido la suerte esa , de nacer con un carácter extrovertido , que disfrutas de todo, yo soy la antítesis tuya y cuando veo a gente como tú siento una mezcla de envidia y rabia
Seguramente un día regresaras a tu país o te irás a otro sitio, y será una etapa más de tu vida, la gente cuando es joven quiere conocer mundo y cuando va cumpliendo años tu chip.cambia y tus prioridades tambien

At the frist stop, Jesus' bar, he would never pass a food hygene certificate from here in England. Bar full of stock, carving meat next to the till, no refridgeration .
