I feel it when BR says "Film watching has always been a personal experience & I witness a film alone, not with a group". No wonder he is an award winning critic.

Same . I prefer watching it alone . Now that I’m married I find a way to sneak in an early show before I have to watch it with family . 😂 early morning shows are most welcome .

@@Raider4967 you are left alone with your thoughts in the interval and after the movie atleast . You don’t have to opinionate soon necessarily or try to balance or marginalise your opinion against another .

One can't deny that Tamil film making has came a long way from stage drama to technical film making. A lot of our older directors, way before Sridar, western directors were directing Indian films. The producer could be an Indian but the director who knew how to use the camera was from west. Technical Film making predominately is about experimentation. If you look at Citizen Kane director Orson Welles would have experimented all types of camera angles and experimented with lenses which was even new to some western cameramen. However, they would have not known at that time, both in Germany, Italy and much of Eastern Europe there were directors experimenting with new techniques. So much of our earlier directors like Sridar, Balumahendra, etc have read up or watched these techniques. These techniques are there to help with the story telling, the light, sound, music, art design, camerawork are the aesthetics to elevate the story telling. If the story is not engaging and if the actors are not able to translate that visually to the audience with their body language and verbally then for the audience the film may not be appreciated. For example, there is a single scene in Jigirthanda Double X, when Lawrence will just stare at the fire after his father's death. In that single scene, Lawrence has showed with his facial expression how his mind was feeling about the truth about the real world. We all know how dumb/naive Lawrence character was before but that single scene is the "realisation" for him the actual cruelty that surrounded him. That was a simple shot, decent lighting for the night shot regardless that acting was what sealed the situation. Have you seen Lawrence ever acted like that before? I guess he just did what the director told him to do. I think we have also seen a lot of technique done by Barthirajah. Watch Vedam Puthithu. Even Balachandar said, he will not be able to make a film like that. That movie both interms of story telling and film technique was able to touch the audience heart. It's a moving picture. In a way it's similar to the Titanic movie storyline, Lover caught in difference social classes.

We need to postpone OTT release to 10 to 12 weeks. This will force people to watch movies for first 6 to 8 weeks. OTT also should take advantage to increase price since a lot of new audience hooked on OTT. Also, government needs to take advantage scrub piracy content to get entertainment tax boost.

    • @4kmovies554

OTT Won't Earn after That Bro Within Those 10 weeks Maximum Crowd will watch it, Few of them Only Rewatch it In OTT and Within that Period HD Piracy Also be leaked So OTT won't Accept it.

He is being politically correct in not directly criticizing anyone or any film. Quality of movies have dropped big time. Audience just want their heroes to be super heroes and say punch dialogues, few dance sequences and some emotional scenes. We need quality film makers who can do something beyond all this cliche. I only see hope for web series at the moment.
