Excellent design and well described. I have a bowrider with an inboard motor and I have been looking for trolling motor options partly to navigate shallow rocky areas and partly for fishing. So far yours is by far the best affordable option. Thanks!

Appreciate you making this video. I had just asked myself the question "can I rig my transom mount Minn Kota to work on the bow." You answered the question for me and also showed me how to do it...so 2 thumbs up!

    Hi,
Looks like a sweet installation. The longer trolling motor shaft makes a lot of sense.
Also, the PWM Pulse Width Modulation circuitry in the variable speed trolling motor is the way to go. Fish all day on a good charge.
    John

Thanks John. Not too many bow mounts have the PWM speed controllers and reverse. I'm working in a small space with a 14 foot boat and this just made sense.

Good sulution to having the Min Kota become bow mounted. Glad they are making some with PWM included.

The heart of this project is a commercial bracket that costs $80. Not really what I consider DIY. You've given me a good idea for making my own though, so thanks.

howd yours come out i made one out of a thin stainless steel sheet bent at a 90 and bolted a piece of wood on it where the TM clamps. Ive got it hangin off the side on the bow. Anything past 2 speed on my endura c2 it lifts off the wood; thinkin of just bolting all the way thru the wood somehow with wing nuts

I ended up buying a bow-mount motor and building a short, 3/4" plywood deck at the front of the boat. The deck is held down with heavy-duty (0.125") DIY aluminum brackets and 2X4s, and the trolling motor bracket is bolted to the deck with the manufacturer's SS through-bolts. Wish I could post a pic here. Ironically, the lower unit on my outboard failed shortly after installing the TM, and I made several trips out with only the trolling motor. In retrospect, it would have been nice to be able to move the TM to the transom temporarily, if only to make it easier getting the boat on and off the trailer. It's very sturdy at the bow though and will probably last many years. Good luck with your project!

Been looking for a used Traxis like yours. I want the variable speed so you are never going too fast or too slow and the control handle tilts up for easier steering. Good stuff but pricy. $350-$400 but the best choice.

You said you made that bracket? If not, can you pass a long the info? I'm looking to do the same thing on my boat because I'm on a tight budget and already have a nice transom mount that I could put to use since it doesn't work great as designed. Thanks.
