All the more remarkable when you consider she can't actually speak any of them apart from her own Russian, so she has to memorise them all and sing them phonetically. She is apparently learning English in her spare time, though she doesn't get much of that.

Слово "универсальный" употребляют в тех случаях, когда артист способен исполнить что-то лёгкое и светлое наряду с тяжёлым и драматичным; спеть как грустное, так и весёлое; а иногда может уверенно зайти на территорию другого жанра. Но весь мой многолетний опыт знакомства со всевозможной музыкой говорит о том, что по-настоящему универсальных артистов не существует. Просто у одних рамки поуже, у других - пошире, но главное - далеко не каждый хороший артист рискует выходить за привычные границы. Я думаю, Диана Анкудинова является единственным исключением - лишь подтверждающим правило. У любого, даже самого наглого и самоуверенного артиста есть инстинкт самосохранения, - в том числе, и у Бузовой. Ни один сколько-нибудь здравомыслящий артист не рискнёт исполнять песни из основного репертуара Дианы Анкудиновой. Для этого просто нет ресурсов ни у кого. Одну-две песни - ещё возможно; но уже хотя бы пять-шесть любых песен - совершенно нереально, даже в виде пародии. Никто не в состоянии спеть и " Human", и "Реченьку", и "Ворону", и "What a Wonderful World" на более-менее приличном уровне. Именно об этом я и написал. Так что - нет, - не может это спеть ни Бузова, и никто другой: просто перечитайте внимательно список...

It's not just Spanish - it's the Ladino dialect used by Spanish Jews which developed in Spain prior to the Jews expulsion in the late 15th century. The original artist is Yasmin Levy, from Israel, who writes songs in Ladino. The venue where Diana is performing is the Woodgrouses' Nest Bard Club in Moscow. It's a small venue - about 150-200 capacity and is Diana's "local" - she has performed there many times and it's where she very often debuts new songs in her repertoire. Diana has sung in several languages, including Russian, French, English, German, Spanish and Arabic.
I appreciate you're worried about copyrights, however, apart from a few videos, which were originally shown on the NTV channel in Russia, Diana doesn't worry about copyright as she welcomes the exposure that reactors give her. Great comment. It's basically only the Russian state tv channels you have to worry about with Diana. NTV (HTB) among the worst, and that's where a lot of her tv performances are.

It is based on Russian folktales about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother at age 3. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh' It's Not Yet Evening" ruclips.net/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/видео.html. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song.

Those are the cornerstones of her singing career. Then you transition to her covers like Rechen'ka (14 y.o.) and others which she sang at the show You Are Super ! (her first season at that show on NTV = HTB, where her performaces are doggedly copirighted). The best way to show off your reactions to Diana's songs ( you hardly can call them "covers") is to borrow them from her official site.
