Brave opinion to have these days. I totally agree. People are really high and mighty about room for fish. I’m growing out 100s of guppies in 10gallons. Over feeding like crazy. Just changing water often. People will say I’m a fish abuser but these fish are better off than most fish.

My brothers, wife’s, cousins, friends, college roommate said that there was a guppy in her class getting a PhD

I haven't used Facebook in years because it is far too toxic and divisive. Not using it has increased my happiness and lowered stress immensely.
@@tobek284 Oh I hear ya on that. I've seen it ruin relationships and also families. What ever happened to good ole' pen and paper or a phone call? Half the problem with internet trolls are they can say almost anything and there are no consequences. Back in the day; we kept our thoughts to ourselves for fear of a good ole' fashion as$ woopin, or at least willing to dish one out when someone stepped out of line. Sadly; Things were "normal" then.

I've never done so, but I've known guppies live years, and breed in just a couple of pints of water. Deep gravel, live plants and minimal food seems to be the key.

Classic example is I had several guppies in a small fish pond made from a wine barrel, and when I moved house and took out the jars that were part of the decoration in the interior of the wine barrel - l ended up accidentally capturing one of my guppies in a jar all by himself and only just discovered him

Good question
Goldfish release a hormone which is condensed in a smaller body of water which stunts their growth. Their organs will not develope correctly as a result, and their life expectancy will be reduced.

Tank size doesn't hender guppy size.
Wouldn’t daily water changes dilute the hormone way more than weekly water changes? So tank size is not the only factor that effects hormone concentration

I literally got a 1g tank from Walmart for $10 yesterday cause it was on clearance and google said I could keep a betta in it but RUclips and Reddit say no what can I put in it cause my only other idea is brine shrimp but it’s bigger than a sea monkey tank and research on how to adjust it so they live is hard to come by

I can remember keeping guppies in mason jars when growing up.....goes into seclusion

I (for a few months) kept a pair in a large ugly fish bowl on my (homework)desk. My tank had needed a hard reset and it was summer. They did fine with weekly water changes, live plants, a minamal feeding schedule. Not a ideal long term but it did work.
.. I still have the bowl because I don't throw away things and I would say it is about a 3 gallon? The only thing its holding right now is random fish supplies (including unopened sample packets). Not a drop of water. That ugly glass spherical thing is questioning its life as we speak. I almost feel sorry for it.

I’ll probably get shot by the discus police. But I keep one of my more aggressive discus in a 8 gallon aio cube from petco with no issues with a once a month water change. I do have a lot of floating plants eating the poop though. Also I did add a better pump for better water turnover and added a bag of bio media to the pump chamber.
Pretty sure there are no discus police here, you should be safe. Lol

I'm thinking about getting just one or two guppies and putting them in a 3 gallon bowl. I've never kept a fish before. I'm definitely concerned about overfeeding and keeping the water healthy for the fish. Any advice?

I have 10 Debbie fry in a 4 gallon and I use a sponge filter which I occasionally switch with my main tank just cuz I want to keep the bacteria healthy in there.

@@MichaelsFishRoom I like to change a lot of things in the tank including the gravel and rocks and stuff and when I do that and filter wash sometimes my tank doesn't cycle correctly after but if I put a dirty sponge filter right in the new tank everything stays cycled

Sorry I missed this rant. Tuesday into Wed I became pretty sick. Drove myself to the hospital. Thursday they yanked my Gallbladder. Home today. I actually feel pretty good now.

@@MichaelsFishRoom I am doing pretty well! Thx! It was a pretty severe gall bladder attack and crazy me drove myself to the hospital in the middle of the night. Two nights in hospital and removal of the gallbladder. I'm back to water changes.

He is much better, he had dropsy from poor water conditions I think. I found the AWC system was not changing enough water in his tank.

Currently it is stocked with a handful of Neo’s and 2 baby assassin snails. I was thinking of moving 6 Chili Rasbora’s to it, do you think the weekly 40-50% wc will still be ok?

If the tank has natural plants and you are diligent about maintenance, should be fine.
I had one lady on Facebook threaten to call PETA on me cuz I use Rubbermaid tubs for my ball pythons.

Hey thank you for the video it was very helpful. I have a question for the 1 gallon tank. Is a couple moss balls and some floaters enough for a no filter tank? Does that give enough oxygen for a couple guppies? Thanks for the video new sub!
I would say, maybe! Depends on how much you feed and what you feed. Small amounts of high quality food like Dr. Bassleer should be ok.
Hey I dont have a big budget (40$) and I can only afford a (its a tank with a filter and food btw) 1 gallon tank which is 27$ which leaves me enough money for 3 fish and some cheap decor anyway. At my local fish store I can get a 1 guppy and 2 snail. Is the tank big enough for both????

Believe it or not I put guppies in a 2 gallon jar out side with a African sword plant, during the summer. Left them for weeks when I checked them out discovered they were thriving. Told the lady at the fish store she told me they were most likely living off mosquitoes
