This is a great tutorial! How far in advance can you make the centerpiece before the event and how do you keep the flowers (especially hydrangeas) hydrated until the event time? Thank you!
Why add the gel balls to the bottom of the vase? I think it would look really awesome if you had floated something in the vase....faux diamonds, pearls..etc....You certainly made it arrangement look easy!!!
How many actual hydrangea's heads are you using is ti 4-5 or there is more heads attached to one bush? just asking cause I will be using silk hydrangeas and i am getting 120 heads for 13 Pilsner vase centerpieces.
I love this centerpiece and would love to do it for my wedding!! Where did you find the plastic bowl that you were able to cut out to fit perfectly on the top of the vase to hold the foam?
I made a very similar arrangement using soaked floral foam, hydrangeas, roses and baby's breath. Unfortunately, 18- 24 hours later, all the hydrangeas were wilted. Do you have any recommendations on how to make the hydrangeas live longer?
@@crystalbrooklyn718 Hydrangea does not thrive in floral foam the way other flowers do. (it's name is related to the verb 'hydrate" as in drink a lot of water!). After cutting the stem on a sharp angle with a floral knife (scissors squeeze the stem, only use a sharp knife) then submerge the entire hydrangea first in a tub of room temp water so it drinks as much as possible. Hydrangea drinks from its leaves, petals as well as the stem. When you submerge, use Floral life or another flower "food" for cut flowers which accelerates water uptake. 2 hours should be plenty. Hydrangea should then last for a day in floral foam. But if you wish it to last longer--and you muse use floral foam--then place the hydrangea in a good size water tube after thoroughly hydrating it--and stick the water tube in the florAL foam. Use a top grade floral foam--Oasis plus. If you find a hydrangea droops after buying it, re cut the stem on a sharp angle and only with a sharp knife and plunge in water for 2 hours, it likely will come back if you submerge the entire stem and flower, leaves.
Hello and thank you so much for this video. What size hydrangea are you using? Select, premium, or jumbo? Or what was the circumference of the hydrangea you used?
Where did you purchase the plastic container? Also do you have a specific website you purchase your vases and flowers from. I'm trying to decide if I should attempt my own centerpieces.
I got tall vases from Hobby lobby last week and order some more on line, they were 1/2 prices off. 24 inches for only 12$ . I live in Houston we have a big party supplies store " Arnes " they have all kind of vases , but its non return . Good luck .
