What an amazing woman, wow being true to herself no matter what, Suranne played her perfectly and Ann was brilliant too for eventually realising what she wanted and she loved Anne for who she was, even Marianna was ashamed at how she dressed and acted I'm a big fan of period dramas and she is the best I've seen and it actually being a true story of a remarkable very clever woman and writing it all down in her diaries in a secret code !!!

Unfortunately, Tina Wish, the Emmy nominations were announced earlier this week and Suranne Jones was not among them. I believe this is a real injustice. Suranne simply “embodied” the person of Anne Lister; she owned the role. Perhaps this injustice will be remedied by her winning the BAFTA. We can only hope!!

I've seen that you get many gracious comments on your videos but would just love to revoice them - your editing is incredible and you so well capture the story and the pain and love between these two. If you notice Anne L. never says she loves Anne W. It is very evident in her journals that her heart, passions & desires- always belonged to Marianna. I wish it weren’t so; as I adore Ann W, she is truly the right match and temperament for Anne L. They married and traveled together, but Anne never gave her wife what she truly deserved...her undivided, heart. The show is excellent in every way, but I don’t believe it’s accurate in respects to Anne’s devotion to placing Ann’s needs above her own. Their romantic love displayed on screen doesn’t match the love displays in the journals. It’s true what John, her (servant) said, “that’s usually the way, when it comes to love...someone always loves someone more”.

I think Anne makes it perfectly clear by her actions and by her moments of weakness ("don't you dare do this to me again" "she always unhinges me" "I want you to be my wife" "you came so close") and cried for Ann while in bed with Mariana. She put her actions where her heart is. And the companion book makes it clear that it was Ann she couldn't get out of her mind on the trip she began with Mariana.
Elizabeth White the movie version is not what reflects, as far as what is written and translated in the diaries. Anne loved Ann but it’s not as it seems in this movie. Read the journals yourself and listen to the writers who translated it.
