reggaeton in the home of reggae 👀🇵🇷🇯🇲 didn't know how possible it was to have English in the backdrop of the dembow but she made this beat cry 💯🔥
'Dembow' originated in Jamaica therefore English or Patois in the backdrop is nothing new. Reggaeton is basically the Spanish Reggae which started in Panama in the 70s/80s, thanks to J'can migrants. You're welcome.

If Spanish reggae, reggae and reggaeton were the same thing, they'd be called the same thing 😕 that beat is obviously synonymous nowadays with reggaeton & with Spanish lyrics. a lot of times, reggaeton in English sounds corny. the point was that she did a good job with it. this rythem is not a common rythem outside of a Latin country nowadays. and the old dance hall records dont sound lk this either. all to say, I understood your point, but the "your welcome" at the end bothered me lol 🤪
Lol yes, they are all different genres that have evolved in their own ways. I listen to all. 'Dembow' is actually still present in a lot of reggae/ dancehall songs although not very distinct, but I get your point abt being associated with reggaeton. I said "You're welcome" because a lot of Latinos like to act as if reggae had no influence, even when they copy/ remake reggae/dancehall materials.

I know Latinos who appreciate reggae/dancehall & even ska. There are a lot of recent songs with dembow as the core. Sometimes the pace is changed which makes it hard to detect, but if you listen to songs from Chronixx, Protoje & others who are bringing back the original reggae/dancehall style you'll hear it. If you listen to 'Sorry' by Justin Bieber, 'Shape of You' by Ed Sheeran, 'Cheap Thrills' by Sia , 'I'm In Control' by Aluna George ft Popcaan & other reggae influenced pop or tropical house songs, dembow is the core.
