Wow, the lyrics are amazing, it's Leia-Palette -ish, Yuppe style, but the description on the video says UtsuP made it. The music though, a good combination of Yuppe and UtsuP, I felt more Yuppe's influence, because this sounds kinda softer and melodic than "dull", so basically just perfect for me.
Evidently, this song is way more Yuyoyuppe-style, whereas Dull was more Utsu-P style. One of the most telling elements of that for me is how it plays with time signature. It's all over the place! Here's a breakdown: 0:00 (Intro) - Mostly 7/8, however, they put an extra beat (making a bar of 4/4) on the bar at 0:06, which has the effect of shifting the downbeat. This is a *very* Yuyoyuppe trick, and you can see it all over his last album *Draw.* It comes up a couple more times here too, I'll point them out! Whenever I reference a shift, it's a bar of 4/4. (ERRATA: There's not actually a shift here.) 0:17 - Another shift. Yuyoyuppe uses it to support his musical narrative, to form the canvas on which he creates his masterpieces; this time, with Utsu-P's driving riffs and guitar tone in tow. This is a really special track, and I'm so happy it exists. I'm hoping we see a split album from them in the near future; but at any rate, Dull and Vivid will be in my heart for ages to come. :) \m/
