Sunderland supporter here and i think you're spot on. We set the bar high with last seasons heroics and before that playoffs in our second season back in the championship was my personal aim. I think that’s fair with Norwich but I think Wagner has brought in players to play his style which he didn’t have last season such as Fassnacht who he worked with at Young Boys. I think the main reason for our inconsistency last season was our injuries which I don’t think we’ll have that much of a crisis this season (well I hope at least😂) I think we’ll just about finish in the play offs but I wouldn’t be surprised if we did finish just outside in 7th I think our record signing Christos Tzolis will finally get going for us and break out and have a properly good season for us as well as Sargent being more consistent and Fassnacht to help them both up there with Sara and Nunez as you mentioned, being more consistent after settling in to English football. Stats showed that last season Angus Gunn was one of the best goalkeepers in the league too which I think will help us. It also helps we’ve got players who know how to get promoted still like Stacey with Bournemouth, Duffy with Brighton, Barnes with Burnley, McLean and Hernandez with us so overall I think we’ll finish 4th but maybe I’m being bias 😂

One thing that has me excited as a Coventry fan is that we finished 5th last season despite a poor start, and like you said, we got our first win in October. I can see us starting a lot better after how last season went, and we should hopefully have no postponements to home games, which will boost momentum as well, playing no home games at the start of last season didn't help momentum imo, home advantage is important to have sometimes. It does look like an exciting season is possible, maybe we can dream of promotion.
As a Cardiff fan I think you hit the nail on the head with us, I agree, as long as we are not in a relegation fight next season, give me a comfortable 15th/16th I’ll be happy considering how our last 2 seasons have gone
Great vid as per usual Ben! I honeslty think my team (ipswich) will be the dark horses this season. I just think we'll finish between 6th-8th if we get the quailty players we need. Owners are more than happy to invest in getting these signings too.
Great video Ben, always look forward to this one! As for my table I’d say. 1: Leicester City- Very strong recruitment and the squad already there was the best in the league. The only thing with them could be the unknown with the manger but I thought that about Kompany last season! 😂 2: Middlesbrough- I like Carrick a lot. Archer will be a big loss but they have a clear style of play there now. With a full season I think he’ll be able to get the job done. 3: Leeds United- A very strong squad and a manager who’s been successful at this level previously. I do think they will lose some players soon though which is why I’m not saying top 2. 4: Coventry City- Really like how they’ve replaced Gyokeres. Simms will be good and the right back they’ve just signed looks very promising. They’d be my picks for playoff promotion. 5: Southampton- Not a Russell Martin fan, in preseason they gave us two goals in typical Martin fashion by losing the ball in their own half overplaying out from the back. With that being said they’ve got a very good squad for this level and the style will work against lesser sides more often than not. 6: Norwich City- Unsure on Wagner but they’ve made some decent signings with experience of promotion at this level. 7: West Bromwich Albion- This is a very tricky one to call, I think they’ve got good players and a great manager who’s proven at this level but as you say the owner situation makes it very hard to predict. 8: Sunderland- I like their recruitment style, definitely going in the right direction. 9: Stoke City- Have to back Pearson and Travers! 🍒It feels like they are going in the right direction for the first time in years. I like some of the other signings there as well. 10: Millwall- More of the same really. I expect they’ll be tough to beat at home, will struggle for goals occasionally. 11: Blackburn Rovers- Always a tough team to predict. Could go either way, I think they’ve got a decent manager but not enough quality to challenge the top six this season unfortunately. 12: Watford- I can see the manager going by November 😂, squad is a lot weaker currently as well. 13: Ipswich Town- I think some people are getting a bit carried away with Ipswich to be honest. Some good players, however many of them haven’t exactly been in Great championship sides previously, I think they’ll be comfortable and solid though. 14: Bristol City- A lot of this depends on Alex Scott and if he stays. They seem to be good at developing young players there so I’m sure if he does leave they’ll invest well. 15: Birmingham City- Liking some of the signings, Dembele can be great at this level if played. I think they need a goal scorer though. 16: Preston North End- I agree with you I can definitely see Preston struggling for goals, shouldn’t go down though. 17: Swansea City- Seems a bit risky, however I worry they’ll lose some key players like Grimes and Piroe. Change in style will take time adapting to as well. 18: Hull City- Some good players still there like Greaves, not loads to say about Hull, sorry Hull fans 😅 19: Plymouth Argyle- I think they’ll be fine, club seems stable, spending money and a good young manager. 20: Huddersfield Town- I’m not sure Warnock will last the whole season, they are a very unpredictable side! 21: Cardiff City- Unknown manager and they’ve been around the drop for a while now. If they get Kieffer Moore I think they’ll be just about ok. 22: Queens Park Rangers- Something about Ainsworth there doesn’t fit. So poor last season. 23: Sheffield Wednesday- Mainly due to the lack of planning and transfer business for the upcoming season. 24: Rotherham United- I don’t think they’ve got enough quality and they’ve lost a key source of goals in Ogbene.
@@bengoodwin4599 Hope so to! Pearson is a great championship midfielder just not quite good enough for us anymore. Travers is brilliant, was the best goalkeeper in the league when we went up. Best of luck for the season, will be keeping an eye out for your results! 🍒
Love this detailed summary and I agree with most of it. However, I think that a lot of people are underestimating Stoke this season. They're bringing in 12-13 new players and most of them are really top-notch at this level. Chiquinho, Vidigal and Ryan Mmaee are all real flair players and they will also have both Josh Tymon and Ki-Jana Hoever as attacking full-backs, so I think they could be real dark-horses this coming season. They seem to be very focused and organised and have got most of their transfers already sorted, so if they can get just get in a half-decent striker then I think they could really do well. I'll be surprised if Alex Neil doesn't get them into the top six by the end of the season. He's certainly got the players...
SWFC - Expected you to predict us to go down. It's the same feeling that I have. We haven't played great in pre-season, the squad is significantly weaker and we're showing no signs of getting better/to the standard required for next week. I'm not convinced by our transfer business, none of which are proven Championship quality which we desperately need. We'll see what happens.
As a blues fan, I've seen lots of people talking about a top 10 finish, while i have liked our recruitment I just don't see that happening. After watching us finish around relegation for 5 years, anything below 17th is a W

Fantastic Video as usual Ben . You are definitely the best at doing these kind of videos , your knowledge of the teams and players in the league is much better than others , you are unbiased and whilst I have seen lots of other championship content you are easily the GOAT of this league on RUclips. My only down point in this video is I had hoped you would have thought my beloved Birmingham City would be finishing higher. We have made some great signings , the takeover has gone well and was desperately needed … Mr Wagner seems like he will be a quality owner and Gary Cook as CEO ex Man City is another top appointment. I think we desperately need a quality goalscorer and a left sided centre back … Trusty would be brilliant , he was quality last season and then after years of doom and gloom I can finally see us going on an upward spiral. Keep up the good work with you videos and Keep Right On 💙
The difference between us (Bristol City) this year and last year is actually quite a lot. If u look at our squad as 22 players... they can all play a number of positions, and have all mostly experience and quality at this level. The one thing dragging us back I think will be the quality of the players and Nigel Pearson as a manager. Lots of fans are still sceptical of if NP is the right man. And with these 22 players if we arnt in and around 10th I think he has to go

I would have died to have ramsay at boro. He's a top player I hope he can show that in a preston shirt for yous! At aberdeen he was such an exciting young player. Excited to see him in the championship
I feel like some of the predictions especially for the title, automatic promotion, promotion playoffs and relegation are/will be mainly based on some key fixtures of the 2023/24 season. For example, the final day of the Championship season, there are some massive games like Rotherham United vs Cardiff City, Leeds United vs Southampton.
Completely missed when this was released but I'll do top 6, bottom 3 and biggest positive and negative surprise 1. Leicester 2. Southampton 3. Leeds 4. Boro (promoted) 5. Millwall 6. Burnley fan here in peace, relegated Cardiff QPR & Blackburn rovers, sorry rovers fans, promoted Leicester & & stoke city , play off winners Norwich or Leeds this was the hardest pick .😊😊😊
I recon Plymouth argyle will be the team to giant kill when they're at home. Something tells me they're going to effect the promotion race with games being played away at Plymouth.
Great video as always Ben, looking forward to another year of Championship madness and great content from yourself! From a WBA point, your prediction is fair as I honestly don’t know what to expect from us this season with player sales, state of the club etc. But if we keep the bulk of the main squad, Wallace, Swift, Molumby etc, on our day our 11 can beat 90% of teams in this league imo. I don’t think we’ll make the playoffs without a striker to add depth but I would fancy us around 7th, maybe just missing out. 1 - Southampton 2 - Leicester 3 - Middlesbrough 4- Norwich 5- Ipswich 6-Leeds 7-West Brom 8-Sunderland 9-Watford 10-Hull 11-Millwall 12-Coventry 13-Blackburn 14-Stoke 15-Bristol City 16- Swansea 17-Preston 18- Birmingham 19-Huddersfield 20-Cardiff 21-Plymouth 22-Rotherham 23-Sheffield Wednesday 24- QPR

Preston 17. QPR (maybe a shock to some but I just can't see them being as absolutely horrific as last season) 16. Blackburn 15. Watford 14. Leeds (I don't care how talented that squad is - Norwich proved last season that no matter how good you are these things can happen. Leeds just seem to be on a never-ending downward spiral and Daniel Farke doesn't fully convince me that he's the man to gel everyone together and get them into the playoffs at least.) 13. Stoke 12. Hull 11. Swansea 10. West Brom 9. Bristol City 8. Norwich 7. Ipswich 6. Millwall (this prediction is entirely based on me hoping they make it this time after agonisingly missing out for too long now) 5. Coventry 4. Sunderland (random playoff winners) 3. Southampton 2. Middlesbrough (keep Chuba Akpom firing like he did last season and they go up imo) 1. Leicester (if they don't get more than 100 points then they've failed lol)

As a cov fan I think the signings we’ve made improves our squad and it’s only the start with more coming in. And a bold prediction but I believe Simms will be a better player then gyokeres as he seems to be a better finisher and will link up better with players.
Southampton fan - dunno if it's just because I have incredibly low expectations because of how bad Jones and Selles were but i've been impressed with Martin so far, now he has better players you'll see him be able to realise his vision more effectively I think. Why would Hull spend the same amount as last season, they brought in some amazing players so this transfer window they only needed a few extra players. 10-7 will be their final positon
Love that everybody but the bookies are writing Leeds off. Apart from Rodrigo the players that have left were hardly pulling up trees last season and were more likely to set the opposition strikers up than our own. More players will be leaving they say but nobody seems to be making offers or those offers have been turned down. All we have is lots of speculation so if the pundits want to write Leeds off I don't mind it will just take the pressure off.
I have to be honest and I'm writing this after game day 1, I think Middlesbrough are really gonna struggle this year and Carrick could be sacked before the season is over, they really haven't signed well, I imagine they'll lose Akpom or Hackney, really really difficult year for them I think
As a Birmingham fan if we can get a good striker in & another centre back .then maybe we could get in the playoffs. Why not .just look at Luton & Coventry

Given that QPR and Rotherham are guaranteed to get relegated I don't think Sheffield Wednesday would be the 3rd one. Plymouth, Cardiff and Hudds any if not all of them should be weaker.
I think from a Huddersfield point of view we are waiting to see what we can get from player sales and waiting for premier league clubs to finish pre season. Then I think we will try get a few in. But I do agree with don’t get a few in I agree it will be a really tough year.

For note, my grandad (with BIG connections in Ipswich, a member of Ipswich's private forum, former coach at Ipswich and knowing people personally in quite notable positions in regards of recruitment and backroom staff) says that Ipswich are still looking to sign a striker despite Hirst's signing, most likely pushing Freddie Ladapo further down the pecking order. This just shows the ambition we have, 9th is fair but there's so much more Ipswich can do this season.
No way will saints finish second. Speaking as a swans fan, yes, they have a strong squad, but Martin has no plan b, and he’s one who will throw his players under the bus. Top ten finish at best.
Doom n gloom or what! Carrick would have got us automatically promoted last season if he had started the season, according to stats. We only got Archer in Jan, we will only proper miss Giles. Great vid as per usual Ben! I honeslty think my team (ipswich) will be the dark horses this season. I just think we'll finish between 6th-8th if we get the quailty players we need. Owners are more than happy to invest in getting these signings too.
Congrats you guys got 2nd
Hull finished 10th with Rosenior from November with players that weren’t his …very harsh.
Was a far worse league last season compared to this. I hope we do well but tbh I'm not excited.

Harsh on hull but very fair assessment of Blackburn, good research and I very much agree with a lot of your predictions, good video 👍
Great video Ben, always look forward to this one! As for my table I’d say.
1: Leicester City- Very strong recruitment and the squad already there was the best in the league. The only thing with them could be the unknown with the manger but I thought that about Kompany last season! 😂
2: Middlesbrough- I like Carrick a lot.
18: Hull City- Some good players still there like Greaves, not loads to say about Hull, sorry Hull fans 😅
19: Plymouth Argyle- I think they’ll be fine, club seems stable, spending money and a good young manager.
Hope the Bournemouth boys can take us up 🤣 travers is a great signing for us and Pearson was crucial last season.
@@bengoodwin4599
Hope so to! Pearson is a great championship midfielder just not quite good enough for us anymore. Travers is brilliant, was the best goalkeeper in the league when we went up. Best of luck for the season, will be keeping an eye out for your results! 🍒
@@jackstratts2569 thanks mate, I’ve got Bournemouth to finish 11th. Think you’ve had a cracking window and improved your manager so much.
100% agree. Most predictions have Stoke mid-table, but I think they’ll really push for the playoffs this season.

And with these 22 players if we arnt in and around 10th I think he has to go
The reason you’re going to have a good season & keep improving is because of Nigel Pearson

As it is right now, Leeds will not finish in the top 6 with the squad we have

From a WBA point, your prediction is fair as I honestly don’t know what to expect from us this season with player sales, state of the club etc. But if we keep the bulk of the main squad, Wallace, Swift, Molumby etc, on our day our 11 can beat 90% of teams in this league imo. I don’t think we’ll make the playoffs without a striker to add depth but I would fancy us around 7th, maybe just missing out.

given the time these predictions were made, STOKE 13th????? think there one of the teams to watch, yes i support Stoke, so given my obvious biased position, i still think we'll be in play offs minimum. but great knowledge young un
This just shows the ambition we have, 9th is fair but there's so much more Ipswich can do this season.
i see coventry finishing 3rd or 4th and winning the play off final this time
if hamer stays which he will
@@JamalRiaz-cn1qwHamer probably will go to premiership soon..Coventry ..Birmingham ..West Brom..all equal but Birmingham edge it👍👍👍
@@davidchamberlain5425 personally birmingham need more time, coventry are ahead and tbh so are west brom but west brom are a weird team to predict
No way will saints finish second. Speaking as a swans fan, yes, they have a strong squad, but Martin has no plan b, and he’s one who will throw his players under the bus. Top ten finish at best.
Not a chance boro will get too 6 atm imo top 10 will be good for us this season, unless we bring a load of quality players in now
Doom n gloom or what! Carrick would have got us automatically promoted last season if he had started the season, according to stats. We only got Archer in Jan, we will only proper miss Giles. We will sign a couple before end of window. Carrick has had a full pre season, We peaked too early last season and that 3 week gap where we knew we were in playh offs fucked up our form. We will finish second this season, or maybe first. I have full faith in Carrick
@@Astrophobia88 I do have full faith in carrick. I just don’t have trust in the board in terms of letting finances being available, it’s better than some of my mates saying avoiding relegation will be good for us, I’m just saying that without strengthening and without championship proven players we will be off and getting caught off guard
A really good assessment Ben,but what nobody on any of the predicted channels have said is that the teams coming down from the premiership, will face every home teams match as a cup final,IT WONT BE EASY FOR THEM believe me !!! a cup final every away match 🤣
Everyone really writing us off 😢(swfc)
as neutral it would be great to see exciting championship season without Leicester, Southampton and Leeds walking through it
Think Norwich are lowkey title contenders
