Good to hear from you. Lost my job at 61. Made it to 62 and early SS. Lost a lot of money taking it early but had no choice. That was almost 7 years ago and still am retired. Living within our means but the good Lord has taken care of us and I know He always will. Be safe my friend!
Thanks. I'm pushing it a bit retiring at 57 my wife just turned 62 so she will start getting early SS next month. It's barely enough to cover the truck payment ut it's something. If we can just get this house sold for a good price we should be fine. It'll work out.
Feel ya, Winter here seasonal non employed and with the price of mechanics nowadays any wrenching I can do I'm willing to bust a knuckle to save buck too, Gotta' luv HF and the internet helping with that ! Best wishes to the family, Keep yer head up!
HF has some decent tools. A lot of junk too so you have to choose carefully. :D I don't mind doing stuff myself when I can. When I was working it was a matter of not having time for fun much less for anything else. RUclips is great for showing how to do stuff. I saved about $200 fixing the turntable in the microwave. Only cost $18 for a motor and a 10 min YT vid to show me how. lol
Yep, gotta have decent tools. I started collecting tools a few years ago so am pretty well equipped to do minor stuff on my own. gave away my floor jack and stands when we moved the 1st time. Needed to replace them. Wife was not happy but...
Those are great jacks. Use them at home and at work. But I’m sure as you know they are not light to lift LOL. Me and my dad struggled to get it out of our car. I like they come in different colors too. At work we have orange, yellow, green. At home I’ve got a black one. Thinking of getting another one as well since I do so much work at home. Also I have their 44 inch box at work top bottom and side and it’s doing very well too.
While Harbor Freight known for selling a lot of "junk", they do have some good products at a decent price too. I agree about the weight of the jack. Thing is massive. Thanks for commenting. :D
The Daytona Super Duty has some great reviews. Basically the same jack as Snap-On. Snap-On sued HF for infringement but it came out that their USA made jack was actually made in the same factory and by the same designers in China as HF hired for the Daytona. HF prevailed. :D
While I was working I had very little free time to do much but should have most of the tools and now the time going forward. Now if my joints will just hold out. :D
I can and used to do a lot of stuff myself but as I got busy and my salary went up it was actually cheaper and easier for me to let someone else do a lot of the car/truck maintenance. It's all coming round again to where I'll have to do whatever I can myself to save money. Heck I just fixed my microwave. Turntable stopped working. I went on line and found a RUclips video on it and replaced the motor for about $18. :D
RC62 good work on the microwave! I know the feeling about work taking over, as I climbed the corporate ladder, I had less time to do stuff. At least we got five weeks off a year, I used to use three of the working on home projects, it was a great release from the corporate stuff. I was lucky enough to be able to take early retirement at 58, so now I have all the time to do my own thing, but I often still pay the dealer to service my car, so I can get on with my wood projects!
Yeah it's only 5 years old. Problem is it is in a higher price range and there is a lot of new construction going on in this area. Seems like home sales are slowing down a bit. I'm looking at homes about 1/2 the cost of this one and see a lot of those are dropping their asking prices. Only had 2 couples look at the house in 2 months and no offers yet.
Sorry to hear that Tom. My income is going to be zero until I turn 62 and take early Social Security in 5 years. Jeannie applied (she's 62) and will start getting a check next month. It's pretty small though and barely covers my truck payment.
Good thinkin man. Keep us posted on the house sale.
Wish Jeannie thought so. She was not pleased. If you never hear from me again you'll know why. :D
Nice lift.
Thx Nev. The jack has some really good reviews. Should last me.
Happy 2020. Hope you get new employment 👍✨🤒
Thanks, same to you Joe.

As you have already learned, having the right kit is the first step in doing things for yourself and doing them well.

Good to see ya, at least till ya get caught.
I had to confess, she was not pleased. Not sure she bought the explanation. I'll be sleeping with one eye open tonight. :D

I just ratted you out to Jeannie! She's really ticked. );->
I ratted myself out, and yep, she was ticked. Gonna sleep with one eye open for a few nights. :D
I have the same jack and jack stands. They work well on my excursion.

Good to see this, again sorry that happened looking forward to seeing more vids from ya
Thanks.
Good luck Rob, as your good carpenter skills, you should do good with some mechanical tasks too.
I learned a lot from my Dad. Wish I had paid more attention when he was around but I am fairly capable of doing some things myself. :D
I try to do my own maintenance, especially now I'm retired, have to do something to pass the time lol Hope you sell the house soon!
While I was working I had very little free time to do much but should have most of the tools and now the time going forward. Now if my joints will just hold out. :D
I always like to do my own maintenance, I’ve always found difficulty paying someone else to do jobs I can do my self!

Nice jack and stands, Doing your own services will save a few dollars, I hope you sell soon. TC
Thanks. I've always done some stuff on my own but will have to ramp it up a bit.
house is what , 5 -6 years old ! the entire neighburhood is that new if im not wrong ,so it should be easy to sell , allmost brand new !!
