    I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
It blesses me in my walk with the Lord! I came out of New Age beliefs and practiced occultic practices and it really helps to have all the content.
I have started my own RUclips channel too and I do verse by verse Bible studies, expound upon scriptures and teach how to apply. I share my testimonies as well!

Edified listening to this conversation. Didn't know how practical and relatable the Desert Fathers were. Thinking of picking up a copy of the Sayings in alphabetical order. Thanks so much you guys.

I find it disappointing that people in the chat were accusing the desert fathers of being elitist. They were walking in a life of submission to Christ. Any discomfort from an example of that reflects a conviction of dereliction not an apparent form of super spirituality.

Comment: The Aaronic priests wore the Hebrew letters: YHVH, probably pronounced: "Ye-Ho-Vah" but it was NOT sacrilegious!
The prohibition upon pronouncing God's name did not come about until the second temple period / destruction when the Romans/Greeks made it (and circumcision, Sabbath) punishable by death. The Jews then made it their rule, to avoid the people obeying the pagan government instead of them.

I know that the point of the podcast is focused on early church history, and in sense it seems like the discussion centers around the early church world view. I have to question why biblical world view seems to be removed from this early church view. You talk about this mass struggle and massive warfare of these early church fathers, BUT I don’t see this mass struggle in the Bible. Please note, I am not saying there isn’t spiritual warfare, but what I am saying is the mindset. What I seem to have heard here is a differing mindset about the approach to spiritual warfare. It seems that the biblical approach continually acknowledges the spiritual presence, but relies on God as if it is not an issue to spend time battling over because God is in control. However here in early church history the mindset gives more power to the demons/enemy and their own human ability/power to “battle” it. I think minute 48 is where a better picture comes in when it was mentioned that they may have equated their personal journey and the struggle with their sinful heart more as spiritual warfare. However, it seems again, to be a strikingly different perspective from the Bible, especially on the power and authority aspect of the battle. I would love to know how biblical world view parallels to these early church fathers because I can’t see that it does and so I have to question their teachings and perspective. I know that scripture doesn’t deny spiritual battling or even possession, but I don’t see where old or New Testament have such a mental struggle, Jesus battled one day and then went to love and serve people. I don’t see where in scripture that spiritual warfare has the authority to dominate your life over loving and serving people. Old Testament and especially the new they were present with the spiritual demons, they casted them out and moved along to serving and sharing about the kingdom of the Lord. From this discussion (which I know is truncated) leads me to think their mindset was misplaced on self and the battle with sin. To be locked up for 26 years on yourself seems against Jesus’s command to go and spread the gospel and love God and others. My genuine question is, how did these experiences and mindset of early church world view parallel to biblical understanding of spiritual warfare because I don’t see that it does.
