Beautiful song brings back happy memories from my youth . I was always watching the Eurovision contest , and still remember this song , I was 12, now 50 years later I am happy to find this song back.I love the lyrics and the tune and their performance. True talent.
I was five in 1973 and remember hearing this song quite a bit on American pop radio. I used to love it even though I couldn't understand the words. It just randomly crossed my mind, and here it is. So nice to put faces to the music.
I was born and raised in the nearby eastern side of Los Angeles, California, where most people spoke Spanish as either a second language or as their primary language. There was also a heavy Mexican culture of both song, dance, food & culture, but especially the music, primarily the huge assortment of Mariachi musicians. There was much joy and happiness within the community of culture. However, being a huge listener to popular radio, when I first heard this song, "Eres Tu" from Mocedades on American Top Forty with Casey Kasem, over and over and over again, I don't know, as I just couldn't put my finger on it, but I verily knew that there was something exponentially different in the way this composition was written, arranged, orchestrated, produced and especially the lead vocalist's unique accent & in her dialect. It was just plainly uncommon sounding within the Latino community I resided in. Something was very, very different. I just couldn't solidify the difference, but I could hear a difference! I was quite young then, perhaps only eleven or twelve years of age at the time, when this song was released to radio stations. Decades and decades later, I learned this incredible recording was actually produced and recorded in the country of Spain; Basque country to be more specific and to my amazement, that is where my, mostly paternal and some of my maternal side of ancestry is originally from. Please do not misunderstand me, I dearly love Mexico and especially Baja, California, just ask all my friends, colleagues and close associates, of my yearly trips to 260 miles south of Ventura County, where I reside now! However this song, truly, with any doubt, brought me back to my European, Spaniard and Basque beginnings, like no other musical piece has ever done, or I have ever heard. Irony, perhaps? Possible. But so very true. BolsaChicaRadio

She sang in Mocedades and El Consorcio. Amaya Uranga deserves a tribute from ESC and RTVE. Let's give recognition to the best artists when they're still alive. ❤

I see a lot of comments in English and I'm surprised, I wasn't even born when this song was popular and it was until this year (2024) I listened to this song (full) for first time... but it seems this song was popular in countries where spanish wasn't the first language, and I didn't know that...
The lead singer seems to find this amusing and was smiling thru some of it :) I loved this song ever since I was a young kid but never knew the words. I loved it anyway.

This got a lot of airplay in its day on American pop radio. A bit unusual for a non-English song, but the harmonies work and people loved it.
