We used that type of zinc wire fence when we poured a slab of concrete for a shed, it’s 100% fine to use it instead of rebar.

You might want to use a straight board to level your concrete. You set it on top of your frame board and slide it from side to side as you work down your cement area. It won’t show the towel marks.

For the bathroom I'd suggest putting 100 mm XPS underneath the slab so the floor won't be cold in winter.
Yeah we will insulate that part. rest doesn't mater as it won't be walked with bear feet!

Not having gravel with stones is really not as strong as it would be with that added. It will be nice to have the cement floor though.

Are you not adding gravel to your cement mix? It looks like you are making mortar. The ratio for floor slab cement is typically 1 part cement, 2 parts sand and 3 parts gravel. You will get a lot more bulk out of your mix if you add gravel without reducing the strength of the slab. 👍
When using your striking board to flatten the slab, slide it back and forth on the long axis as you move it across the slab (short axis). With the sawing motion you will not destroy the surface Desi worked hard to make nice. 👍
Desi needs a float to finish the slab. Much easier and better than a trowel.👍
Make two standing boards with handles out of plywood that Desi can use to walk out onto the slab for the final float finish. Step from one board to the next, float the surface and work your way back off the slab.👍

Sorry but concreet is cement, sand,gravel, cement and sand just cement for bricklaying
David, my late husband was a concrete contractor large projects . Here in California, heavy clear plastic goes over a level bed of gravel then wire then the concret mix. When he did our home he had footings around the edge then the concrete was normally 4" thick unless it was for parking heavy things like motor home or tractor that would be 6 to 8 inches. You are such a hard working young man and the lovely Des. Blessing to you.
