Covering all possible scenarios with all possible test data for any given functionalities is a HERCULEAN TASK. In real world no tester would be able to write and execute test cases for all the possible test cases with the entire set of possible data.
So How to provide a maximum amount of test coverage?
That is where test case design techniques comes into picture. Test case design techniques allow us to create or design effective set of test cases for maximum test coverage. The beauty here is, test design techniques not only provide us the effective set of test cases, it also reduces the number of test cases to a greater extent.
In this video, I have explained why a test design technique is required with a banking module example. We will also be doing a task of identifying the possible number of test cases for the given module, identifying some valid and invalid test data, finding how long will it take to execute the identified test cases.
