Nice video. I definitely need to go back and explore that area more. You mentioned bad lighting, but I actually think the overcast conditions actually brought out the colors better than sunny weather would have. I went to the Moonscape Overlook and drove past some bentonite hills along Wild Horse Road on a sunny day in October and the colors were more washed out. I think overcast lighting conditions or golden hour would bring them out the best.

If you can see Factory Butte you are in a good place.
The area of Hanksville is full of dinosaur bones. Going there in winter is best in most ways other than mud as you say. Summer, too hot!
