After reading your comments I thought I would digress a little on TJ. I still consider TJ as the weakest link in this drama both in terms of how the character is written and portrayed. Yes he does have a stunning physical appeal, but this is a complex role that is most definitely not suited for a promising yet inexperienced actor like Deng Wei. He pulls off an endearing Ye Shiqi with ease. But he lacks depth and range and visibly struggles to get into character as TJ. His lost and stricken expressions are inappropriate for some of the drama's best, most intense moments. Also TJ's reputation as one of the most brilliant and cunning minds of Dahuang does not match with the character's weak and indecisive nature. For instance, as the cunning nine tailed fox, he is fooled by his brother and fiance quite easily. Kindness is a great virtue but it is not so at the expense of fooling your own self. There is clearly a writing issue but it does not excuse the actor's inability to make the character seem deeply conflicted rather than just weak and lacking basic sense and survival instincts. This is a glaring weakness that weighs on both my viewing experience and my rating. I hope he does redeem himself in S2.
I don't have the same take on this. Jing manages to show up for XY countless times. Yes, he has trouble standing up to his grandmother but that's the case for pretty much all Cdrama MLs where their mothers or grandmothers are concerned. He has clearly been a loyal friend to Feng Long of the Central Plains and his sister and seems to be able to accomplish everything asked of him to support Cang Xuan in his Tushan Jing clan leader role.

I totally agree with you. Out of all the MALE LEADS, TANG JIANCI really made a GREAT IMPRESSION on me. HIS ROLE AS XIANG LIU was executed perfectly, I can really FEEL HIS PAIN, LOVING XIAOYAO RESTRAINEDLY ... BUT OH!!! THE LOOK IN HIS EYES TELL IT ALL... XIAOYAO AND XIANG LU'S SCENES ARE MY FAV!!!
Menurut pandanga,ku semua aktor sudah berperan dengan sangat bagus, sesuai peran mereka masing2, kita janganlah menilai sesuatu berdasarkan rasa tidak suka atau rasa suka kita terhadap aktor tertentu secara personal, tapi lihat dan nilai lah secara objektif, pasti pandangan mu akan berbeda.. coba kamu bayangkan jika dalam drama " LYF " hanya diperankan oleh Tan Kinci saja, tanpa ada aktor lain yang mendukung tentu drama ini tidak menarik dan mendapatkan ranking tinggi... Secara jujur coba kita pikirkan... Aku dan banyak penonton dari luar negara Tiongkok, tidak pernah kenal aktor " Zhang Wanyi, Deng Wei, Tan Jianci atau Wang hongyi... Pada awalnya kami datang untuk menonton drama ini hanya karena bintang " YANG ZI " ku pikir siapa itu semua ML nya tidak terkenal ????.. dan tidak pernah ku tertarik menonton dramanya, tapi setelah terus ku ikuti ceritanya episode per episode, masuk akal ceritanya walaupun itu cerita fiksi, tapi ceritanya mudah dipahami, dan para aktor menyampaikannya dengan baik sehingga keseluruhan ceritanya menjadi hidup dan membuat penonton susah move on, akhirnya " LYF " menjadi drama paling hit dan sangat disukai seluruh penonton.. Lalu kemudian seluruh dunia mengenal nama2 aktor yang bermain, kemudian keempat aktor menjadi terkenal dan banyak tawaran... Itu bukan karena " Tan Jianci " atau Yang Zi seorang tapi berkat kerja keras mereka semua yang menjadikan mereka terkenal, termasuk kerja bagus orang2 yang dibalik layar... I agree with your positive review of Lost You Forever but would give it a 9.5 rating. I disagree with you on Tushan Jing's character assessment and would go with Xiao Yao's complete devotion and love for him as making a good judgement.
Yes! I wld give it a 9.3. This drama is endlessly making me wanting to see more episodes then just 2 episodes a day. To me ALL 5 played their roles very well. The under water background was not good enuf only... that's why it lost it's marks. The scenes underwater between XL & XY are great! For me I like watching both of them together compared to others! TSJ can be forgiving which is good BUT he's very unwise... Never bothered to investigate how many months the baby was... Bcos if he did... He could have discovered that it wasn't his!... & actually I did remember an episode earlier that his fiance mentioned to his brother TSH that she's pregnant 🤰 before their grandmother set TSJ up. Also how can you give up the Tushan clan group leader responsibility to a wicked half brother who is having an affair with his so called sly & wicked wife Fangfeng Yiyin. Yes I do find TSJ character kind of spineless... Sososori I might upset some people here. 🙏
Thanks for your detailed response much of which I agree with. As for TSJ, my feeling is that he is somewhat naive in the case of the pregnancy ascribed to him. With regard to his brother and their history, what would have been the only way to deal with it? Was there a way to prove to the family/clan what he had endured at his hands? Should he have found a way to kill him? To me, the first might have been impossible given his brother's deceptiveness and the second just doesn't seem to be in Jing's upstanding make-up as he tries to carry on with his responsibilities. Sadly, that has the heavy price of causing a rift in their declared love for each other.@@preciousaudrey4033

I agree with this assessment wholeheartedly, i give it a 9.5 also. I love the complete devotion and love that Tushan Jing has for her and don't think his character is spineless , lackluster or indecisive. And I must admit I do have a little love for Xiang Liu. If I wasn't rooting for TJ, it would definitely be XL.
I totally agree. Tushan Jing seems like he's a weak guy but Xiao Yao ❤ him. I would have preferred her to end up with Xiang Liu. However, her heart falls for Tushan Jing. And the book does say he dies. I think they will conform with the book of him dying. Wish the author, Tong Hua would provide Xiang Liu his own story though. He's an interesting character who deserves to be reincarnated or have his death faked so that he can just live in peace without the shackles of the promise he made with the one who saved him from slavery.
I strongly agree with all that you said. Yang Zi did an amazing portrayal. The guys were all awesome in their role. Any flaws was definitely NOT in the acting! Haven't seen the end as of yet and these clips that lure you in with vain words are just messing up the flow. Never seen so many lying clips before. But it really is an awesome drama!
I don’t agree with your review about the character of Tu Shan Jing. Actually, he is not spineless and boring. He demonstrates the toughest character by emerging triumphant over the most difficult trial in the story ~ he FORGIVES his brother and DECIDES not to seek revenge even if HE CAN. Moreover, it is only TSJ who is willing to give up everything to be with XY … the other male leads are unwilling to do so. From the beginning, he loved her completely and with unwavering devotion. Lastly, TSJ’s respect for his grandmother is also very admirable. While he can simply ignore her, he chooses not to. So in my opinion, TSJ emerges to be GREATEST character in the story. His KINDNESS and MAGNANIMITY beat them all. P.S. I only see chemistry between TSJ and XY ~ even if he has less screen time compared to the demon, his love scenes with XY leave a deep and lasting impact on me. Every time I watch XY with XL, I am extremely annoyed. Thus the character of TSJ must be understood at a higher and more sublime angle, just as XY said it very beautifully…..”he is the bright moon that is never defeated by darkness, … always radiating LIGHT!”
I agree with you. Xiaoyou doesn't want power, she just wants to live freely in peace. Only TSJ have the same wishes and let go everything. Other males cannot be her companion, becos they hold on to their power and throne.
I too do not agree with your review on Tushan Jing. I too see him as very honouring n particularly kind n forgiving. His love for Xiao Yao is strong n enduring. If one looks at how strong the opinions of elders were in those days, he still had the dare to speak to his grandmother. She it was along with his fiance who deceived him for their own ends. I really loved Deng Wei's acting.

I 100% agree with all you said, the best characters are Xiaoyao and xiangliu their performance is excellent. The chemistry is Wonderful, tusang jing is boring,is suffocating, the music, the scenery , the costume is a very good drama
I agree tusang Jing is boring and not innocent he and his fiance both cheat on each others. Jing shouldn't mess around knowing he's engage he shouldn't take long to cancel marriage. I prefer the other male lead he have his reason for his behavior and he's not fake 😅
This is so far the most comprehensive review i have seen. Agree with your review on each of the characters including Tushan Jing. Although i'd like to believe that this character will improve and bounce to life in season 2.

International fan here I have watched this its a fantastic drama Yang Zi is a brilliant actress along with the 4 guys chemistry is amazing remember this is how they are portrayed… did not see a problem with any of production quality or cinematography for me .. I would think it costs a pretty penny to make these dramas and is on my top ten list if S2 is as great as S1 then it will take third place roll on S2

I disagree totally to your comments on the character of TSJ played by Deng Wei. You do not understand his sense of responsibility towards the family, nor thr profound kindness and gentleness in him. You mistook them as weakness, but those are his strength.
I give the drama a 7 because of the first season. I don't like when they make a second season because that's when the drama goes down the drain. I think that the writer putting 4 male leads deteriorate the drama because now it doesn't make sense. If the writer or producer is planning to have the female lead with demon 😈 guy, then they should so. He only making Tushan Jing suffer and nothing good happens to him in the story. The character play by Tushan Jing might be boring and indesive because that's how his role was written not because he wants too. I don't like the female lead anymore because even though she promised Jing that she would wait for him she still flirting all the way with the demon 😈 guy who I think should disappear from the story now.
It is bassed on a book... so it is not about the producer changing the book just because he wants it :P By the way, I find Jing's character the most difficult to be played because "being shy, indecisive, cunning, family heartbroken, patience, hold back your emotions, flawless... and still try to take the female lead's love" it is really difficult , but I really liked his acting :) , and of course even in the book the own writer developed the character of the demon so much that even he didn't want to kill it xD...but he did it... it was meant to be like that from the beginning, so that's it. I am still in love with Jinq :3 , I won't develope a Stockholm syndrome love here xD with the demon, nobody who breaks a person's skin back deserves to be loved... even if he redims himself :V
When I saw that the "SOUL MATE" tag was with TushanJing my fingers were ready to rant my mind out, but after watching the vid I will forgive that error in tagging. XiangLiu is XiaoYao's Soul mate lol YangZi said it multiple times and the drama shows it clearly. XiaoYao and XiangLiu/FangfengBei's moments shows their love altho its restrained and covered it still show and glows
Currently the rule in Chinese entertainment business is that part 2/sequels need to have a year gap in between them. So most probably next summer slot unless something changes.

Love this review. The main actress was outstanding. but I didn't like the cangxuan actor. It was bad acting for me. So was the guy as Ye shiqi. Love the plot though.
How do you know? She didn't. And there is still season 2. Just because they've written it in such a way as to make you believe that. Doesn't mean the fairy wand of storytelling isn't going to just throw it all up in the air snd story new directions

It isn't my cup of tea. I just dropped watching this drama. Bloody Romance & Goodbye my princess left ever lasting impressions on my mind,even months after watching those C dramas. Eagerly waiting with bated breath for Nirvana in Fire-3.

He demonstrates the toughest character by emerging triumphant over the most difficult trial in the story ~ he FORGIVES his brother and DECIDES not to seek revenge even if HE CAN. Moreover, it is only TSJ who is willing to give up everything to be with XY … the other male leads are unwilling to do so. From the beginning, he loved her completely and with unwavering devotion. Lastly, TSJ’s respect for his grandmother is also very admirable. While he can simply ignore her, he chooses not to. So in my opinion, TSJ emerges to be GREATEST character in the story. His KINDNESS and MAGNANIMITY beat them all.
P.S.
I only see chemistry between TSJ and XY ~ even if he has less screen time compared to the demon, his love scenes with XY leave a deep and lasting impact on me. Every time I watch XY with XL, I am extremely annoyed.
Thus the character of TSJ must be understood at a higher and more sublime angle, just as XY said it very beautifully…..”he is the bright moon that is never defeated by darkness, … always radiating LIGHT!”

I agree with you. Xiaoyou doesn't want power, she just wants to live freely in peace. Only TSJ have the same wishes and let go everything. Other males cannot be her companion, becos they hold on to their power and throne.
I too do not agree with your review on Tushan Jing. I too see him as very honouring n particularly kind n forgiving. His love for Xiao Yao is strong n enduring. If one looks at how strong the opinions of elders were in those days, he still had the dare to speak to his grandmother. She it was along with his fiance who deceived him for their own ends. I really loved Deng Wei's acting.

I agree tusang Jing is boring and not innocent he and his fiance both cheat on each others. Jing shouldn't mess around knowing he's engage he shouldn't take long to cancel marriage. I prefer the other male lead he have his reason for his behavior and he's not fake 😅

International fan here I have watched this its a fantastic drama Yang Zi is a brilliant actress along with the 4 guys chemistry is amazing remember this is how they are portrayed… did not see a problem with any of production quality or cinematography for me .. I would think it costs a pretty penny to make these dramas and is on my top ten list if S2 is as great as S1 then it will take third place roll on S2

I disagree totally to your comments on the character of TSJ played by Deng Wei. You do not understand his sense of responsibility towards the family, nor thr profound kindness and gentleness in him. You mistook them as weakness, but those are his strength.

I give the drama a 7 because of the first season. I don't like when they make a second season because that's when the drama goes down the drain. I think that the writer putting 4 male leads deteriorate the drama because now it doesn't make sense. If the writer or producer is planning to have the female lead with demon 😈 guy, then they should so. He only making Tushan Jing suffer and nothing good happens to him in the story. The character play by Tushan Jing might be boring and indesive because that's how his role was written not because he wants too. I don't like the female lead anymore because even though she promised Jing that she would wait for him she still flirting all the way with the demon 😈 guy who I think should disappear from the story now.
It is bassed on a book... so it is not about the producer changing the book just because he wants it :P By the way, I find Jing's character the most difficult to be played because "being shy, indecisive, cunning, family heartbroken, patience, hold back your emotions, flawless... and still try to take the female lead's love" it is really difficult , but I really liked his acting :) , and of course even in the book the own writer developed the character of the demon so much that even he didn't want to kill it xD...but he did it... it was meant to be like that from the beginning, so that's it. I am still in love with Jinq :3 , I won't develope a Stockholm syndrome love here xD with the demon, nobody who breaks a person's skin back deserves to be loved... even if he redims himself :V
When I saw that the "SOUL MATE" tag was with TushanJing my fingers were ready to rant my mind out, but after watching the vid I will forgive that error in tagging. XiangLiu is XiaoYao's Soul mate lol YangZi said it multiple times and the drama shows it clearly. XiaoYao and XiangLiu/FangfengBei's moments shows their love altho its restrained and covered it still show and glows

Currently the rule in Chinese entertainment business is that part 2/sequels need to have a year gap in between them. So most probably next summer slot unless something changes.

Love this review. The main actress was outstanding. but I didn't like the cangxuan actor. It was bad acting for me. So was the guy as Ye shiqi. Love the plot though.

How do you know? She didn't. And there is still season 2.
Just because they've written it in such a way as to make you believe that. Doesn't mean the fairy wand of storytelling isn't going to just throw it all up in the air snd story new directions
