First, I don't see where the Bible says Potiphar was a eunich. You are reading scripture and including that in there. Eunich doesn't ALWAYS mean castrated. The entomology of the word means ONE WHO CAN BE TRUSTED (hence probably castration by those with harems or as you say 'punishment') but eunichs are also God fearing men...that are true to their religious covenants. JOSEPH WAS A EUNICH because he refused to sleep w/ Potiphars WIFE. Joseph was true to HIS COVENANTS with God's commandment (no premarital sex). Joseph proved to the Pharoah that he was a EUNICH....ONE WHO COULD BE TRUSTED by NOT sleeping with Potiphar's wife.
@@carlosdanger1843 It's the TRUE meaning of the word. Since JOSEPH was true to his covenants... he was a eunuch. A widower who never marries again because he is faithful to his wife who departed...IS A EUNUCH. One who waits until marriage...IS A EUNUCH. A young male virgin missionary....IS A EUNUCH. He could have sex...but chooses not too because of his 'mission'.These are the type of people by COVENANT that can be trusted. (in case you look to employ one) You are thinking of eunuchs as castrated men...yes...that's true...but can they be trusted? With harems YES. That's what you are thinking of as eunuchs; but that is more or less the modern interpretation... as the true interpretation simply means One who can be trusted...and did not the Pharoah TRUST Joseph. Lesson: Be true to the promises made to God even if you go to prison... and you will one day be elevated in all things. This is just an added dimension to the scriptures...again proving they are indeed true.
No. Potiphar was NOT a male--who-had-his-testicles-cut-off at some stage. Bible scholar, Gordon Johnston discusses the application of the term to Potiphar and points out: ''research has failed to turn up any evidence for the use of eunuchs as officials in Egypt.* He further notes: ''Although later uses of סָרִיס designate eunuchs, neither the original [Akkadian] etymology nor the Egyptian usage of the term had any connotation of sexual impotence.'' * Gordon H. Johnston, "סריס", New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis, (Zondervan, 1997) 3:289-290.
Matthew 19:12)- Only 3 reason for eunuch - they where born that way, made that way, and they made themselves that way for heaven sake..It's odd title question now after I listen to this I got to go back to the Bible just to see if I missed something.
1. Intersex or born with undeveloped testicles 2. Those castrated as prisoners and those who let themselves castrated to get into positions of power and wealth (like the said eunuch officials) 3. Those who did it themselves in form of religiosity

Look at the LXX, it has the word Eunuch in the text of Genesis 39:1.
Also, please give me a Scriptural reference for Joseph being called a Eunuch…not saying it’s not true, I just don’t remember that. Thanks!
@@carlosdanger1843 My King James Bible doesn't mention that at all.

There is no Biblical basis for the idea that Potiphar was a eunuch.
See the LXX, Genesis 39:1 has the word Eunuch right in the text.

If he wasn't a eunich why did his wife press Joseph so hard?
They sure endured a lot of pain and suffering
Thank you!
Wasn't Potiphera a priest, a man? How does on misinterpret that?
In Septuagint texts in says eunuch instead of priest.
