Otsukare Song was actually written and composed by J-Hope! During their "Wake Up" tour in Japan, J-Hope came up with the melody on the spot and combined it with the phrase "otsukaresama deshita" and thus the song was born! Suga was especially enthusiastic about Otsukare, so he jumped on the bandwagon and they decided to do a fun performance of the song together at their Japan fan-meeting. The song is heavily inspired by the "trot" genre, which is a genre of Korean popular music originating from the first half of the 20th century.
It's funny you say they could be a comedy duo, because "Sope" is actually the name of their comedic-singing duo they created together 😂 They only ever performed 2 songs, however it's still a running joke between them and the fans. Despite all these years, they still make reference to their duo and whether or not they plan to do a comeback together 😂 "Sope" is also the name ARMY use to refer to their friendship, as the friendship between J-Hope and Suga is actually one of the most popular friendships in the fandom (I'm sure you can see why 😝).
Apart from their amazing chemistry together and the fun, exciting atmosphere, one of my favourite parts of the performance is J-Hope's vibrato. J-Hope can actually sing quite well and demonstrates good technique (such as vibrato), on top of his amazing vocal projection. Even when he's speaking, J-Hope is very clear in his speech and projects his voice really well. Suga refers to J-Hope as the "main vocal" of Sope, which I imagine is a joke based on how members in kpop groups are assigned different roles such as "main vocal" or "main dancer" etc. 😂
Since you enjoyed this performance, I recommend you watch the other performance they did together. It's a comedic vocal duet they did covering the song "I Was Able To Eat Well" by Homme, which was a group signed under the same label as BTS.

*Ok, then.. this song is written by J-hope and produced by J-hope and Suga. I checked the information it says composed by “Sope”..*
a lot of comments saying some misinformation so I'll give you the right one lol. Jhope basically said Otsukare a lot to the Japanese staff working for them on their tours in Japan. So it got stuck in his head and he would just randomly say it a lot after that tour. Then, during their WAKE UP tour, J-Hope came up with the melody on the spot and combined it with the "sincere thank you for the hard work!“ it was very catchy and soon enough all of bts would sing it randomly. Especially jhope and suga during their behind the scene snippets to express their gratitude in a fun way. Since Yoongi was especially enthusiastic about Otsukare, he jumped on the bandwagon and asked J-Hope to work together on turning Otsukare into an actual song. Thats how the ultimate sope anthem was born. Jhope wrote and composed it, yoongi produced it. And then they performed it here.

This song was one of the most historical and iconic moments ever! And tbh, BTS got nos specific style when it comes to writing and composing songs, that's what makes them special! You can always expect the non expected with bangtan! Always new genres, melodies, story lines adn lyrics! They composed songs in a lot of musical types, rock, edm, classics, Latino, and a lot lot more and whatever genre you'd ever think about! In Bangtan world, we can safely say whoever you are, a fan or not, you'll definitely find at least a one song that you'll like and will go with your taste! They're really one of a kind! 😭✋🏻💜

BTS tends to do crazy tings at fan meets and Musters, which are special concerts for the fans. You're going to go crazy for your first festa. BTS debuted on June 13th 2013 and they celebrate the group's "birthday" by providing ARMY with new content daily for approximately 2 weeks, until their debut date. Last year, we got JK's song for ARMY, "Still With You", an MV for "We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal", watching the guys sing karaoke of their own songs, and other stuff. I'm sure that you could still find the schedule for Festa content, if you wanted to. It was and will be a crazy two weeks. It's less than 3 months away, now, and I can hardly wait!.
That sounds amazing. Honestly, there's so much content out there, I feel like I'll never catch up but at the same time I'm happy there's so much content out there... if that makes sense. 😅 I had never heard of Festa until now.
@@YouandMe14 Festa is a lot of fun, but also a LOT of content for people like me, that love watching reactions. I watch the original content first and then all of the reactions to it. There really is a huge amount of content. You've only barely scratched the surface. Bangtan Bombs and episodes are behind the scenes things that allow you to get to know the boys' personalities, but their various series and mini-series are where you can truly get to know them as people and their personalities. I know you'll get to those things eventually and I'm really looking forward to when you do.

hobi made the concept for the song because they say that sentence a lot to japanese staff in the back after the show is over and yoongi just went along with it hahah. hobi composed and wrote the song and yoongi produced it (as far as i'm aware). also, sope best comedy duo, agreed😭

All BTS members grew up with trot music and some still like it a lot even today (hello,Taehyung 😁) this is typical trot - fun, genuine,over the top :) you can look more into the genre, it's quite fascinating actually and very popular in Korea 😊 and yes, it's an original bts song 🤣 that's versatility for you!

Whenever I need a quick laugh/pick me up I search RUclips for reactions to SOPE Otsukare that I haven't viewed before. I loved your reaction. I was shocked the first time I heard it ... Sope mentioned in, in passing, in one of the BTS videos and I was curious. Even though the song is not traditional BTS, seeing Suga like this is amazing... such a contrast to Agust D😂 If anybody else had asked him to do this, he wouldn't have even answered them...but they're SOPE

I don't even care they probably didn't write it (though I just saw that flowerhobi said J-Hope wrote it!). I love all the BTS side performances in Japan. This is a fun song :) I think you shouldn't try hard on pleasing people with what you react to, it would be so unfair of people to expect from someone to like the same things they do. SOPE is definitely my favorite subunit! If you want to see them having fun you can watch their Hwagae Market vlives! The thing they did at the beginning of Otsukare Song when they open an imaginary door comes from there! Then you can listen to a bunch of their music in a language you understand, for which I am very jealous, lol.

This was a fun reaction to watch because you could understand the song. I had seen a reference to this song in the 'Who is BTS: The 7 members of Bangtan' but never seen the performance, it's so funny and it's cute that it started from J-Hope thanking the staff after their concerts in Japan.
