i think the lack of stability is the reason he throws as far as he does. (but not in that order). THeres always a give and take. You need two legs to apply the greatest balanced force forwards but adam doesnt really need to lunge forward, he needs to uncoil in an upward manner. How he's adapted to that need is to send that left leg not only high but extremely far back from his shoulders. That allows him to use significantly much more torque that his competitors.
the faster the left leg gets down the farther closed your shoulders are allowing for a better orbit and a farther throw so i understand the change in the technique
